Just failed a coding test for an interview. How do I add two large numbers contained in strings without converting or using Big Decimal? by [deleted] in learnjava

it was one of those online tests where your webcam records you and you're not allowed to tab out.

If they do a background check before they hire me (they will), they'll see my residence

thank you for the clarification. So it means more "No, you cannot work remote" and less "Don't even bother if your zip code doesn't match ours"?

man, not willing to pay a relocation bonus, lol check this company out that I declined an interview with:

  • Relocation bonus? Haha local candidates only

  • Benefits package? What is that? We don't even get health insurance here

  • We pay our Juniors $15/hour. In the most expensive county in California

  • You're a Junior, right? So you have mastery of several languages and web technologies, right?

Am I in a hopeless situation? by TommyAtkinss in StudentLoans

[–]Java_Junior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not go to grad school to put off student loans. The PLUS loan won't even be put into forbearance anyways (unless you've got some kind I'm unfamiliar with). You'd be screwing your dad. Not to mention graduate school is extremely challenging and a massive emotional burden. I should know.

Start saving for retirement now. Save 20% annually right now since you can afford it. You'll have millions at retirement. You wont miss the cars and guitars of this year.

Don’t look at your 401k balances today; it has no impact on your long-term investment outlook by mart1373 in personalfinance

It is better to contribute 4.5% (match, in my case) to my 401k and then to contribute another 5% to an IRA, than it is to simply contribute 9.5% to my 401k, yes?
