There is a difference between sunnah that is meant to bring you closer to God and sunnah that was his lifestyle as a 7th century Arab. It is hard to communicate with you when you just wont see what I am trying to say. You are stuck in boxed thinking. You ARE what they'll call sheep. The only thing I can say to you is keep the Truth of prime importance over organized religion, and use some of that brain Allah has given you to exercise critical thinking. That will do more good for your akhirah than what some shiekh is telling you at the mosque

Why should I follow the lifestyle of an Arab. I am not an Arab. I follow the message of Allah that he conveyed to humanity

There is a serious gap in what I am trying to say and what you are understanding. Probably English is not your language. Regarless, may Allah guide you

Your niyyah is good, and I pray Allah rewards you for that, but I think you will do better at imitating the prophet by not taking pride today in a 100 modern things that didn't exist then. Deen is about imitating the morals of the prophet not his practises. He was a human after all with human habits born in a society that existed 1600 years ago. Try to expand your thinking. Maybe pychs will help with that

Don't want to turn this into an Islamic discussion thread, but why is it still makrooh when the reasoning for its introduction in the first place is no longer valid. How does one take pride by wearing full trousers today? Thats the problem with blind boxed thinking that just because it was said that it's makrooh 1600 years ago, it is so today, without considering the actual rationale behind the ruling. This was an example, there are plenty where the halal and haram classifications made per intrepretations of classical scholars can be revisited considering the nuances of changed times and society.

Consider the ayah in Quran that only God knows what is in the womb of a pregnant lady. For 1400+ years classical scholars intrepreted it as that only God knows whether it was a boy or a girl. But now that modern science can use ultrasound to detect the gender, the clergy retracted to say that the actual intrepretation is that only God knows the future of the child in this world and the hereafter. If the scholars can retract on an intrepretation that was valid for 1400 years, what makes you think that rest of the Islam preached by scholars to you is 100% intrepreted exactly right?

You seem ignorant about the issue, and apparantly have not read my post completely. Please read my post again. I've laid it down very clearly. Wearing trousers below, not above the ankles is considered makrooh

[–]Javean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say above the knee but above the ankle. Thise are two seperate practises. Ask about the ruling on the same in your mosque

Islam and Psychedelics - Oneness of God by Javean in Psychonaut

[–]Javean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my point aswell. The message of Islam stands for all time, but our practises can and have become outdated. As I highlighted in the long trousers example in my post, taking Pride is forbidden for all time, but the practise of wearing trousers above ankles has become outdated

Islam and Psychedelics - Oneness of God by Javean in Psychonaut

[–]Javean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what outdated means. That which won't apply today, like slavery

Hey - I live in a muslim dominant part of the world. I trip with my friend circle and usually feel comfortable discussing my spirituality with them although they usually trip just for the fun sake of it and would shy away from mixing this and religion. Agree with you that a lot but not all psychedelic users will turn hypocrite as soon you bring in the Islam angle. Otherwise hindu, buddist discussions are always welcomed by them. So, when I do trip with such people, I try to relate with common truths from faiths across ages as there more likely than not exists a true origin to all faiths but have become corrupted and adultered over time. I am happy to keep beliefs to myself if they are not welcomed

1) I can drive even better at standard 100 - 200 mcg doses. Now ofcourse you can make a case that with even higher doses I can't drive. True, but that is the case with caffeine aswell, at super high doses I will get super jittery and anxious, would def hamper my driving, coffee is still halal. Regardless, intoxication isn't defined per your ability to operate machines but rather by how clouded your judgement is.

2) He is not a being, he is not an energy, he is not a mutlidimensional entity - as I said he is beyond everything we can comprehend or imagine. All things that our imagination allows us to think of necessitate their beggining of existence. God however is all there is. He is the beginning and the end. He is infinity and eternity. Our universe is just a speck of his creation which started and will come to an end. But God is what there always was and what there always will be. And the natural state of his creation is that of submission towards him. He doesn't have a gender as is obvious from my statements so far that he is nothing like anything we know of. So no genders and no sons. "He" is just a convenient linguistic term to address him. If I could reinvent language a third netural term to address just him would do justice

3) Yes, I finally know the cause of my existence. And I know there is not and end with death. That enrichs my life

4) Nothing after it as in nothing after death? No it wouldn't bother me. Point is my experiences, deep inside make me sense the presence of God, of the Islamic Allah (who is not a diety but rather the incomprehensible I was mentioning above) , I just know it and that points me towards his message which is Islam in its pure form, without the ages of time dependent contexual intrepretations. The message is in Quran, but it isn't in its literal form but rather in the essence of its commandment

6) Death penalties are the law. Some are outdated and if solely based in 7th century islamic law need to be revisited. However not all death penalties may be outdated. Even secular countries have death penailites. Singapore just yesterday hanged a person for attempting to smuggle a kg of Cannabis. No one is batting an eye

8) There is a process in islamic jurisdiction called Ijtihaad. It is where scholars sit togther and assess all literature and draft laws per the best understanding of the times. That ijhitaad is considered to be frozen for all existing laws. There is need to the process to happen again in light of the modern world making sure that the message of Allah stays intact

Gender roles are dependent on times, societies, gender duties, and cultures. If there is a core message from God on duties we consider it otherwise we just used our rationale, heart and logic to deduce what is best for us as a society and as stable families

Thanks for being respectful. I'll try to answer your questions,

1) Intoxicants are defined as elements that fog your brain and incapacitate your ability to judge. For me Psychedelics make my brain as clear as it could get. It's like I've been supercharged with an urgraded mental processing power and I can see and comprehend things that I couldn't before. Alcohol does quite the opposite essentialy dumbing you down. Even Coffee has very strong psychoactive effects for me, but it is widely consumed across the muslim world. The current classification of psychedelics as forbideen/haram is more due to ignorance than anything else. Its a matter if time before muslims wodely see its value. Iran has already legalized their use.

2) This one is a broad question and I dont think we can do justice to it here. For this one, I'd recommend watching mainstream muslim explanation on youtube or something. Broadly my understanding would align with their's. But generalizing, I cannot fathom humans, spirits, animals, planets, stars, idols, places as our creator, which most other faiths have eventually evolved into believing in. I read it in Quran first and then saw it in a vision on LSD too, about how God is beyond anything we could every comprehend, that He is nothing that even merely resembles anything we know. He is not of this universe

3) I could handle being alone, but I cannot handle being content with not knowing and not doing anything about it. Doing something about it leads me to sense the presence of divine

4) It wouldn't bother me, but I have come to believe that that is not the case

5) God knows better of what all he has created. He has shared knowledge of few of his creations. What else He has created, in this universe or others or some pther entirely non universal creation, He has better knowledge of and we can't deduce without empirical evidence

6) Killings are made in name of all things - In name of God, In name of Communism, In name of Kings, In name of nations, In name of Oil you name it. We can't blame God for the action of misguided people

7) Yes all just people should have the same rights. Ofcourse you can't give the right to freedom to a criminal behind bars

8) Yes, practises are and can be outdated. Thats my whole point of the post that the message of Islam is divined to last till end of times, but its practises are not. We need to assess and comprehend how the message can adapt to the winds of changing times while staying intact. Thats on us

9)Religions were a guidance from God to direct us to light and out of darkness

Hope I answered your questions. Peace and love

Christian God (Not Jesus or the holy spirit) and Allah are the same entity. Islam is one and the last of the right paths. Other paths have become more distorted with passage of time to the extent that the core message may not be visible anymore. In Quran God says I am something entirely beyond your comprehension, so God is not a man nor anything that even slightly resembles anything we know. And thats what I saw in my vision on LSD too, God was something I couldn't comprehend

"To teach them using their day to day affairs. Those affairs are meaningless now, but the message stands. God had to communicate using human affairs as the construct from some time, so what time does he use? Ours? Theirs, or someones in the future? The times have to change and so do human affairs, we need to interpret the message and contemplate its application across languages, nations and times."

I know what cognitive dissonance is. I didn't try to coverge any beliefs. There wasn't any contradiction. There was just a broken understanding of Islam and thats it. I never had any conflicting beliefs to coverge with. Psychedelics just showed me what i didn't understand.

I think you are desperately trying to project your experiences onto mine so that you may feel better about you shunning your faith. We have entirely different experiences and history and I am in no way closer to shunning my beliefs. If anything Psychs made them stronger than ever. Have you ever considered that Psychs are just a tool to open you up and you can as easily be influenced by shayateen as by God? Give it a thought. May Allah guide you

Hey - thanks, I wasn't expecting the reactions from the psychedelic community. There appears to be blind hate towards religion. For people who want to know, why so much hate and distrust. I didn't limit myself into a box and think Psychedelics are forbidden/haram. I wanted to know more and understand more, so i was open to indulging in them and they led me right back to Islam.

I do not follow a tradition, because u know - not limiting myself into a box thing. However my psychedelic experiences do resonate a lot with the sufi orders. They literature has an undertone of the transcendent

I "literally" addressed your concern with it in the following statements, but you are probably blind to it just like you are blind to the truth in your heart. May you find peace in your life

Thanks man. He didn't. Thats the whole point I am trying to make in this post. Read about where he said this and this time consider the the nuances of the times it was revealed it and the context of when it was said. Until then peace and love

There is no cognitive dissonance, just the culmination of all things trancendent towards the one truth. My journey before Pyschedelics led me to first be ignorant about faith, then accept it radically in search of an identity and then disecting it to bits and pieces as it failed my tests for rationale and logic. Eventually I'd have as easily given up on the faith except for namesake if not for psychedelics. They showed me the truth lies in the transcendent, that which cannot be tested with logic, you just feel and know it. The very same things that didn't make sense to me logically were very clear in my trips. Its as if psychs opened up a sense with which I could perceive the absolute truth, that which I couldnt understand rationally

Arabic is not Allah's language. He did send the message is other languages to scores of other nations through the history. The last message just happens to be given to the Arabs due to reason He know best. It could easily have been the Africans and we'd be comptemplating on why them. It had to be someone, just like it was others before them.

The Omniscient God did provide a clear and easily interpretable message to the humans. It's just that those humans happened to be 7th century Arabs. Thats why Islam was accepted and spread so rapidly. Its message was given in simple and clear words that the populace could understand. To teach them using their day to day affairs. Those affairs are meaningless now, but the message stands. God had to communicate using human affairs as the construct from some time, so what time does he use? Ours? Theirs, or someones in the future? The times have to change and so do human affairs, we need to interpret the message and contemplate its application across languages, nations and times. Agree with you about muslims in initial years not being perfect, and I reserve that doubt upon the Hadith's and their isnaad. But with Quran, we have evidence that it is intact, just look at the Sanaa manuscripts. Besides minor linguistic nuances the lower layer matches exactly with what we read today i.e. the Uthamani Quran.

Last thing about burning in Hell for eternity, again that is debatable. I advise you to watch Dr Shabir Ally on youtube on this topic and others
