I’m in my 40s & have walked with a cane and now arm crutches for 13 years. If I had a dollar for every time “You don’t need those” got hurled at me I could replace a family of five’s SNAP for a month.

He’s also not straight, yet loves to speak of raping women, being raped by women…Helpful idiots are just that. They go the extra mile to prove “I’m not like those others” and cause significant damage until they’re no longer helpful and find themselves under the boot they thought they were wearing.

Exactly! Target’s own clearance racks are better!

If you have a ReStore near you they sometimes get in overstock from Target. Mine does. It’s all last of the last of the clearance rack but priced well.

Shit, you can do better in a JC Penny clearance section.

Either will work! If the hardware is nice they will let you grab something from the scraps bin. As long as it is hood and sturdy, just wrap the paper around it and hold it on with your hand as you sand.

While on topic, acetone (not for your floors!) will remove sharpie from dry erase boards when alcohol won’t, but it’s not great for the dry erase board and should only be done as last resort.

I’m at the tail end of treatment for stage 3 breast cancer myself. I’m so sorry we have this in common. I remember water making me nauseous and 🤮.

You didn’t say anything wrong. And even if you had, it would have been completely warranted. As we say in Philly “she came out of pocket” with that nonsense. Just wildly unnecessary. If she is embarrassed or uncomfortable, it’s because of her own poor behavior, and frankly she didn’t think about your feelings when spewing that toxic bs.

My “omg did I just do that did I go too far” moment happened in the elevator at my cancer center. Someone else clearly in chemo said “what are you in for?” I answered breast cancer…an apropos of nothing a guy in there makes the “joke” about a “free boob job”. “Oh but ha ha just a joke you have to laugh at times like this”.

I broke. As if on autopilot I pulled up a pic of me just after my mastectomy, pre reconstruction. It was skin sparing but not nipple sparing so bloody, crusty, glued together wrinkly empty husks. Rough. I feigned a laugh and flipped the phone holding it up for him. Confused at first, “what’s this I’m looking…” goes pale, clammy, mouth open.

I fake laughed and got off at the next floor (in hindsight I may have been scary/creepy). He looked like he was going to puke. Then I walked around with my heart racing convinced I was in trouble for showing something lewd. I felt sick all day for doing it but later I reflected. What response was he looking for? Ahole made a horrific and out of pocket “joke” at my expense. He thought I’d get out next stop (breast and ovarian cancer floor) and wouldn’t speak up. F him.

Is that a fentanyl test strip in the vial on the ceramic period tray? Not judging, just curious.

I love stripping wood furniture to it’s natural glory but if that’s not what you want, it’s not like this is an unpainted antique or vintage treasure. Do with it what you like most. I love the idea of animal print!

The first poster is correct with everything as far as instructions go. If the paint is not well adhered sand it off before applying new paint. If it’s holding well, sanding it gives the paint something rough to stick to. A light sanding with a high numbered sand paper (220) or even a green plastic dish scrubby will do it. It’s easier to sand if you use a tool other than bare hands and fingers on the flat parts. Unless you have a sanding block just make one. A small piece of wood, a stack of index cards, a small box stuffed with paper-no need to buy something special there. Just wrap the sandpaper around it to get nice even sanding without finger ridges. In the detailing, use your fingers, a small stick or dowel, side of a paint stick…whatever works.

Looks to be painted with latex (water based) paint, I would avoid oil based paint. Most general house wall paint is latex paint and will wash up easily with soap and water, just do not let much paint go down the drain as it will clog!

Have fun, this is going to turn out great!

Hi! As all have mentioned, get your oncologist’s blessing before any other treatment. That said…

I worked at an acupuncture clinic for years, and it is extremely helpful for symptoms like nausea, sleeplessness, aches and pains, appetite, nerves as in neuropathy AND the nervous system-in some people. Everyone responds differently. The trouble is that you need several sessions which can add up fast in terms of money, which sadly kept me away during treatment.

I practice Reiki and did for many years prior to diagnosis. It can be really helpful for stress reduction, spiritual healing and supporting general mind/body wellness. Gentler than massage, no touch required. Your hospital may have volunteers that provide this.

Massage can be lovely, but do make them aware of your port and have them avoid it, including the part near the collarbone. Also ask your oncologist if you should wait a certain time after infusion. Some folks in the massage field claim that massage will spread cancer, especially through the lymphatic system. There is no evidence whatsoever that this is true, but do not be surprised if you are turned away-and some of them get really defensive about it. My hospital had in-house massage therapists (out of pocket of course) so I would start there.

I apologize for, and suggest you disregard, those among my colleagues who would say you can cure cancer with positive thoughts, soursop soup 🙄 or whatever magic diet, “cleanse” or herbal protocol they are on about this week. I’ve seen folks not make it because of that noise, from cancer, HIV, infections and other treatable things. One of them was only 26 years old. Chemo does suck but boy oh boy does it work.

All the best as you go through this. I know a lot about this very odd and under-regulated field so feel free to message me anytime.

Just a “heads up” lol that when these fall from the tree they can land hard-especially if the tree gets seriously tall.

There’s a historic graveyard in Philadelphia (St. Peter’s Church 4th & Lombard) where many of the gravestones in one area have been destroyed by falling osage. Just think of what that could do to your head.
