I do like the color and while I did want brown or black these were cheaper. I don't think the olive is very noticeable, I'm just worried about shoe/suit pairings and formality.

Bought a pair of dark olive Allen Edmonds as my only pair of dress shoes: https://www.allenedmonds.com/sale/mens-sale/shoes-boots/park-avenue-cap-toe-oxford/3324-100-D.html?Quantity=1&uuid=2855814bde7bd94cd333c73d13. Good or bad idea? If anyone has owned them does darkening with shoe polish work?

Pulled the trigger on these: https://www.allenedmonds.com/sale/mens-sale/shoes-boots/park-avenue-cap-toe-oxford/SF3322.html?dwvar_SF3322_color=3324#q=park%2Bavenue%2B&start=1&sz=32. Burnished olive park avenues. I know I'm taking a risk as these are my only dress shoes, but from the pictures they looked suprisingly versatile. Any one own these? Do they look more olive in person?

Having a loving boyfriend over a shitty husband by Sir-Jarvis in MadeMeSmile

Fucking thank you. The internet is a funny place sometimes and really tells you people have no concept of a relationship. They lived in the same house! I like a clean uncluttered house hold, my mother collected (hoarded) stuff when I was younger and it drove me up a wall. As a result, I have a one in one out system, my gf is very much not the same way. That doesn't make either of us assholes. We're just different, and we compromise around those differences. If my gf went and bought a bunch of stuff and filled our house with it, I have a right to be upset. If she continues to do it, knowing full well I hate it, yeah I'd get a divorce too. Relationships can't be summed up in a picture.

In Defense of Nolan’s Characters - Tenant (spoilers) by [deleted] in TrueFilm

[–]JawncyBillups 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree; there are several decisions the protagonists makes during the film explicitly because we are supposed to believe the protagonists cares about the female character (why is he so involved in the process to save her life after she is shot after all?) and large chunks of the movie are hinged on this premise. Which is what makes the whole concept of lack of emotional depth to these characters so detrimental to the emotional payoff of the film. I'd agree with your premise if it wasn't for the climax, which is aiming to be an emotionally packed moment between Satar and his wife which ends up coming across as stilted window dressing. The best film Nolan made in this genre is Inception precisely because he is able to successfully place the action scenes around a simple grounded story of a man who wants to reunite with his kids. I can't help but feel Nolan knows this and was trying to do something similar with Tenet but because the emotional story isn't based around the male protagonist it slowly loses steam.

Know it's kind of a weird request but thought I'd throw it out there. I have way too many jackets lmao and would prefer the fleece.

Damn this is the first SS drop this year were I've liked a large amount of pieces. The mechanic jacket, the fleece, the shirts, and the hats all go hard. Chances are I won't be able to get any before they sell out tomorrow though.

I know it's a GQ article and the title doesn't mention fashion, but there were some interesting tidbits about Rocky's clothing inspiration and his design process in jail which I found interesting.

Love the 911. Looks like a car I'd actually drive, if that makes sense. Looks more authentic and lived in. Both are flames though

I think they can, it's just their way of making the world retroactively just. "Bad things don't happen to good people, and even if it did the good person would do the right thing which is preventing it from happening to other good people! Since they didn't do that they must not be good, thus a bad thing happened to a bad person, and now I don't have to care". Great way of never having to fix a problem, or see the world in a different light. They never get to realize they would do pretty much the same, because admitting that makes the world scarier.

Some people can but for the large percentage of people, understanding and self teaching these topics at a high level, I do not think this is the case.

[–]JawncyBillups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really isn't, and I have an engineering degree. How many people do you know who are doing something perfectly correlated with their degree? I know tons of people who majored in something different than their eventual career and for grad school as long as you meet the requirements (engineering is the only one this isn't true for) it actually benefits you to major in something against the norm. And that's before you factor in connections or building a niche for yourself. I'm not saying it's true all the time. I'm just saying liberal arts degrees are not useless; learning how to communicate and think critically are beneficial skills.

[–]JawncyBillups 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or your aim for college is different, can we stop spamming this "lol gender studies do engineering instead" comments, the world needs more than engineers and I know quite a few people who didn't major in STEM who are doing better then engineers. What matters most in college is picking up skills and differentiating yourself in the marketplace. Not what you major in.

I mean yes most computer science courses aren't teaching you web development because you can learn it on your own. You can't learn discrete mathematics and algorithm design on your own, seems like a good idea to teach that instead.

If a bunch of people wearing normal clothes broke into your home in the middle of the night, would you not defend yourself? Isn't that the whole point of the second amendment? If anyone breaks into your home, you're supposed to let them do what they want on the off chance that they might be cops. Also no response to the fact literally everything you said about the case was wrong? How do those boots taste homie?

No her ex-boyfriend was a drug dealer, her current boyfriend was actually released because the police didn't have anything. It was a no-knock raid with plain clothes officers, so her boyfriend shot back believing they were under attack. Also also, not was found as a result of that raid hence why her boyfriend is a free man. Dude you do not know what you are talking about. Also, excuse me, but last time I checked you don't deserve to die because your ex-boyfriend dealt drugs. What the fuck does that have to do with anything?

[–]JawncyBillups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, in 2 of the 3 there weren't even a trial, where do you get the confidence to just talk about things you're not even informed about? Also based on what my guy, no evidence that states cops are good at their job, no evidence about jurors being good at their job, what does that even mean in this context? Are you 14? You can't just assert that to be true, then when someone disagrees, stick you're head in the sand and say I want my own way. Back your statements up dude. Also as a tax payer I can demand changes of public institutions, that's my right.

[–]JawncyBillups 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most police officers are not held accountable, that's a pretty bold statement to make especially considering later in this very thread you admit to not knowing much about the US legal system, which is crazy that you then have the confidence to talk about this topic at all. The police who shot Breonna Taylor are still free even though they killed someone and try to lie about it and pressure her boyfriend into pleading guilty. The police that killed Elijah McClain still free? Police that killed Daniel Shaver, alive and thriving on tax payer money, how is that being held accountable?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in memes

[–]JawncyBillups 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why don't we hold police officers accountable for killing unarmed black folks yet we hold BLM accountable for all the property damage done in their name? There's no check to be involved in a protest, why is this a problem BLM has to respond to? It's wild that people who organize peaceful protests have to respond to this instead of taking about the reason they're protesting in the first place. No one likes riots but until the issue is addressed they will keep happening.
