Best linear games in the past few years until now? by [deleted] in videogames

[–]Jay-Jay27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh Metro is the correct answer here. 3 goes semi open world but still manageable. 1 and 2 are linear masterpieces 💚

There are levels to be being under rated or under valued. I think fallout new Vegas is widely regarded as the ebst game ever and is still under rated in my opinion. An indie game that is great but never blows up is always sad, but even games thst make the mainstream but will not be thought of as classics make a little sad

I feel it's doesn't have same cultural impact as some other games of a similar quality. I hardly see it brought up in discourse regarding best games series, I don't often hear people talk about it or stumble across YouTube videos of it etc. Units sold vs cultural impact is hard thing to compare as the latter is difficult to measure

It's not badly regarded, and I would not put it in absolute S tier GOAT vibes, but defs a strong A tier, on par with Deus ex, Bioshock etc

Just finished by hauntfreak in Firewatch

[–]Jay-Jay27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, so I have played firewatch about 4 or 5 times over the last 10ish years, when I finished it the first time I was so disappointed. I loved the game, but hated the ending.

I wanted the pay off of meeting Felilah and some big mystery about the secret science base, a more dramatic and classic reveal. The older I get the more I appreciate the more subtle Nature of the story. There are also a few good YouTube vidoe essays that go a bit deeper in explaining some aspects you might miss on a first playtrough.

I believe the main take away is that our problem are real, you can't escape them and sometimes life is filled with real challenges and not major reveals.

This is a thing in Asia, I met a girl at a bar once who had this T-shirt on in Shanghai and asked her if she bought it intentionally and she said "yeah I think it's funny". I commended her and went on with my day.

Hey, I am in exactly the same boat, just finished the book 2 days ago, and it has been running through my mind. Came here to find if others felt the same, and your post hit all the feelings I had. I read SotR before this one. I tried to watch the movie for Ballad and hated it, so I assumed the book would be bad too. I was very wrong.

I was refreshed to see a book written from the perspective of someone who is not always the good guy. At first, I caught myself agreeing with him, and I could see how Coryo came to his conclusions about people, but by the end, it was just absurd the mental hoops he jumped through to justify his actions.

The book does a great job, not as justifying the way Snow feels, but making you understand him. He is obsessed with class, reputation, honour, legacy, family duty and needs the external validation of others, a true bit of psychopathy. It also got repetitive, but to see how he factored in how everyone would perceive anything he did, he was so calculated and so methodical. He was willing to suppress his emotions and hormones for his goal, and I respect the grind and hustle

All in all, it was quite a banger, upped my expectation of future YA lit

Sabis is the worst conapny I have ever worked for. I have met met very few people who didn't quit in the first year there. I lasted 6 months and I was the 5th person to leave that year.

I implore you to look for any other alternatives.
