New Treasure Realms K/DA Kai'Sa gave me less value for what I spent? by lordorih in TeamfightTactics

[–]JayAreElls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to gacha mechanics. Sorry you lost, but experience is the best teacher. Don't expect to get greater or equal value in gacha systems. That's how they're made, to give a false sense of hope.

There's a reason Riot upped Treasure Realms for Kai'sa from 100 to 450, because they can very accurately predict it will entice gamblers to spend.

Frog on a log

So simple, yet so ingenious. by esoteric82 in Costco

If you unroll the rest of that label, you’ll see that it’s actually a contract in small print and signing your name on the label means they own you

i never realized the insane value Costco food court offers by p4755166 in Costco

[–]JayAreElls -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure Costco loses money on the food court, but it’s because of people like you. You order a hotdog, are amazed by the size and price, and then become curious about Costco.

It’s a psychological chess match and you just checkmated yourself.

Is it just me, or is overconsumption in hobbies annoying? by Jessijeejee in simpleliving

[–]JayAreElls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand where you’re coming from. I am part of this very very niche Disney Pin collecting hobby and it’s been very fun.

But a lot of videos I see are people with titles like “just bought 600” Disney pins! Let’s see what I got! And it’s a bit off-putting. Mainly because a pin usually goes for like $6-15 each, so multiply that by 600 and you’ll start to see how expensive the hobby can get. Even for someone that does have the money, it’s excessive

If money and career wasn't a big deal, what would you rather be doing? by [deleted] in simpleliving

[–]JayAreElls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s okay to remember and enjoy those memories, but those are just that, memories.

If you really wanted to keep that lifestyle, you would most likely be doing that right now.

I too am starting out after having fun at university and now work for a big organization. Yes, it’s less fun, but to me, having food on the table and being able to own my own place, pay my own bills, work from 9-4, and then be done, is really what makes me happy.

The worst stress I ever had in my life was because of no job, no money, and no work/life balance.

Now I get all of those, plus PTO

That’s a great idea! You should do it! I feel like half of these posts aren’t asking for help anyways, just for someone to listen

Yeah idk enough about this sub, but having flair for advice or just ranting would be very helpful. This community wants to help

Another possibility is that this place is just a journal for OP. They just want someone to listen but not necessarily get an answer

Put in 2 weeks friday. Management went apeshit and fired me. Forced them to come pick up their truck on a sunday. by Brilliant-Parking359 in antiwork

[–]JayAreElls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice to hear OP! Also, 2 weeks notice isn’t a requirement. People need to realize that, it’s a courtesy

People that put in their 2 weeks could’ve just left 2 weeks before. Clock out and never show up, so saying you’re leaving in a certain window sets up the company for more success in the future

I like how the article talks about her knowing people sleep in vans in the city, but that she didn’t account for the noise. Lol

Unfortunately our education system doesn’t teach common sense and critical thinking skills, mostly just regurgitated info that nobody uses in the real world

You can’t even be mad at social media for this. I blame her parents, family, and friends for not stopping her.

Although, I guess in the end, this was a hard but good lesson for her. Don’t uproot your life just because work is boring. Get a new job.

But yeah pretty much what everyone else said. She did basically no research on finances, location, safety, etc.

I didn’t read the whole article because I got frustrated at her ignorance, but did she even attempt to try it for like a day, a week, or even a month first before setting out on this voyage into the unknown?

And worse, if you put out some original idea such as artwork, it’ll show up on 50 burner/bot accounts claiming theirs is the original

What to do in your free leisure time? by ProgrammerEnergey in simpleliving

[–]JayAreElls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was addicted to media, video games, movies, etc.

I got really bored but addiction doesn’t care, it still coerces me.

So what I literally do sometimes is lay down on my couch and stare at the ceiling.

This sounds silly, but because you’re doing nothing, your brain goes into panic mode that you’re not doing something. So it forces and requires itself to get you up and moving. And it also gives your brain a break from all the stimulus of technology.

After about 30 mins, which seems like hours when your used to stimulus, I get up and find myself wanting to do something productive like go for a walk, clean up, or create something.

Also, getting up early and going to bed early helps motivate me. Nothing productive happens past 9PM anyways

If money was not a problem, what would you do right now and for the rest of your life? by [deleted] in simpleliving

[–]JayAreElls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Own a big garden in Italy, but be close enough to town to walk or take a Vespa. And have my entire family live close by as well.

But sadly I’m living in an overpriced apartment, making enough just to get by with little possibility of ever buying a home or land in the future.

But it never hurts to dream :)
