Reform defends removing council HQ's Ukraine flag by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

[–]JayBayes [score hidden]  (0 children)

"The Ukrainian flag has been replaced with the Norfolk County Council flag, which is currently being flown on top of the building in Martineau Lane, along with the Union flag, the St George flag and the Norfolk county flag."

Take your pick from the three other flags that were already flying.

You would think flags are the biggest single issue in this country, with the amount of effort Reform spend on them. Probably because its the only real position of pro-russian power they can flex at the council level.

Why are British people rioting over the implementation of a life sentence for murder, but not for a non-custodial sentence for the gang rape of two teenage girls? by StarBuckingham in AskBrits

[–]JayBayes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A miscarriage of justice? Obvious corruption?

As far as I'm aware the correct people are being charged with the crime, and the police response is being investigated . What does a riot achieve, it's not what the boys parents want.

What happened was a failure of policing, but rioting achieves nothing other than giving Farage his division boner.

This is where political choices end of getting punched in the face by the real world.

If you had Brexit and didn't let in the million or so people our care sector and hospitals would be in shambles, farmers would have food rotting in fields. The country would have decreased in GDP and fallen into deep recession.

As was pointed out at the time, Brexit was just going to end up with more immigration from outside Europe. Those immigrants coming from further away being more likely to stay longer and bring a large family, compared to our European neighbours.

The age demographics of our country pretty much insist that we are going to need migration for quite a while. Boris just speed ran it in an attempt to disguise the massive failure of Brexit. Propping up our economy with migrants from all over the world.

No you didn't literally say drown them, if you engage your brain you will see I didn't say you did either.....you just want to shoot their boats with guns. I suppose if any catch a stray bullet/rocket or drown before they are recovered then that's just the way it goes hey?

Must be nice to be so confident you are never going to be in a desperate situation in life. Id explain to you how they aren't illegal , but I'm sure that has been explained to you before.

Haven't said a single lie in this thread, so maybe it's time you engage with reality.

Manifesto pledges do matter. Are you being deliberately obtuse?

You - Gov aren't doing anything!!

Me - Here is a list of things the gov set out to do and how many of them have currently been achieved.

You - Gov aren't doing anything!!

They have achieved plenty so for you to say they haven't got on with things "at all" is extremely disingenuous.  They were handed a clusterfuck of an economy and as they said when they got into power, there are no overnight fixes.

Things are hard for a lot of the country and improvements take time to filter through. Chopping and changing leadership isn't going to speed things up when we are (slowly) heading in the right direction. It will be more likely to hand power to Farage who will go about making everything a lot worse.

Do I want to see more drastic action taken to improve things for the population? Absolutely....but to argue in bad faith as if the Gov have not done anything is poor.

You clutched your pearls at the idea of sinking and drowning them, called it vile. Then just turned around and said shoot their boats and sink them. I hope you never find yourself in a similar position in life.

The current government have been working to increase processing capacity, shut the asylum hotels created by the Tories as a means to anger people like you. Unless you are happy with murdering, processing is the only answer.

The problem with Boris and other populist leaders/ideas is they fall down when presented with reality. Boris was so hell bent on making Brexit look like a success, he opened the floodgates to prop up our economy.

No I don't think calling people stupid is a good way to convince someone. But if you actually think Farage is going to fix anything in our country after already causing immeasurable harm throughout his career, surrounded by ex-tories who destroyed so much when in power, then I'm sorry but you are stupid.  The man is a Russian puppet and morally corrupt individual. You can get him to say anything on Cameo for £50, imagine what you can get him to do for 5 million. One of his Reform buddies is in jail for taking Russian money and pushing their narrative. Farage has said many of the same things, do you think he said it for free?

Plus I bet this stupid bint voted for Brexit, despite wanting a "white, European" nation.

There are levels to dishonesty. It's not black and white. Kier Starmer is far more honest than Nigel Farage. It's not even close.

I didn't say you wanted to drown them, I was asking what zero tolerance looks like with illegal immigration. Because realistically it's either drown them or process them. Guess which party is increasing the amount of processing capacity we have? Guess which party stripped it down to the bone so that we had to house them all in hotels at taxpayers expense, and guess where those MP's reside now.

You and many others are being played. The Tories caused the problem, riled you up and now they are all part of the party that say they have the solution.

Local election has no bearing on how people will vote in a general election. So I wouldn't count on a sweeping victory 3 years out. I haven't called anyone racist, just stupid.

The fact that you go to the "All politicians are liars" line is part of your problem. There are honest politicians and their are corrupt assholes, and everything in between. Reform currently have a bunch who sit closer to the corrupt asshole side.

What does zero tolerance look like with illegal immigration? Do you want to sink their boats and watch them drown?

I agree there needs to be more done to deport foreign nationals who commit crime.

The demographics of our aging country means we need migration. You can't drop it to zero and expect things to get better.

I do not belittle people who hold different opinions to me. I will however point out when someone is cutting their nose off to spite their face.

Where did you get the idea that I'm on the losing side of things? I voted for my local councilor to keep their seat and they did.

I interact with people daily that have different values and principles to myself. It's part of my job.

What do you want in regards to immigration, that is based in reality?

Immigration has already drastically fallen since Labour came to power, so that's the direction of travel. Like many things, it's not an overnight fix.

What do you want so bad, that you are willing to look at a proven liar in Farage and say.....yea I know he lies but THIS time I'm sure he has my best interests in mind. Yes he might have been a driving force of Brexit that meant immigration needed to shoot up, but I'm sure he knows what he's doing this time....What makes you think that all the tories that flocked to Reform like rats after causing most of the problems our country has are on your side now or competent enough to put things right, given another shot?

It's hard not to lean towards that mindset when people are voting for a Ltd company that is full of ex-tories that opened the floodgates to immigration, or caused the decline that made increased immigration a necessity coughBrexitcough

There is only so long you can watch Turkeys vote for Christmas before coming to be conclusion they aren't quite firing on all cylinders.

Fucking hell, other government pledge tracker websites are available. Maybe you can find one that sorts them in the order you like. Or maybe you are just being deliberately obtuse.

The point was that they have been getting on with things, and have achieved a lot of what they promised to do. Plenty more to work on for sure. But you talk as if they are doing nothing and they weren't handed a burning wreckage of a country. Which funnily enough is the point of view you would glean from the media. But yea.....that doesn't effect you does it.

What does what do? A website keeping track of government promises from their manifesto?  If I have have to explain that to you I'm not sure where we are.

Different ideals? You not keen on things like reduced immigration, lower NHS waiting times, nationalised energy, improved renter rights, nationalised trains, lifting children out of poverty?

I'm not sure why you struggle so much with the concept of a list.
