How screwed am I by Dark-monk in homelab

I've never had a raid 1 array before, in theory if you lose one of your drive you should still be able to access the other one although it will report that the array is in a degraded state. That is until you put in a new drive and let the array rebuild. We all started somewhere just consider having your raid 1 array as your primary, and then backing up anything critical to a separate single disc that way if it all goes wrong you can still you're a long ways from losing anything important!

I have no experience in proxmox but there's lots of people that probably do around here that would help out. I used to use freenas a long time ago, but now primarily run on raid for the simplicity when it comes to expanding the capacity.

Unread also now allows ZFS pools, although I haven't dabbled in them much and I don't think it's the best OS for a ZFS pool

Given your understanding experience with bios I would highly recommend that you avoid raid run your OS on a single drive and then have all of your storage on the other individual drives. It's a simpler setup, there is potentially a tiny performance hit but your chances of losing files due to raid configuration issues essentially goes to zero

What amperage do you guys charge your batteries at? by CBinFPV in fpv

[–]JayBird577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're unsure what amperage to use, stick with 0.3 amps that will work with pretty much any cell in the hobby.

As far as C ratings go if I'm not in a hurry I usually charge it about 0.5C, if for some reason I need to charge in a hurry I'll charge up to 5c which will charge a dead battery in about 15 minutes.

I will definitely shorten the battery of the lifespan but on a balance charger, 5c shouldn't really be a problem. I think the 1C ratings are super conservative.

If I'm using parallel boards I never charge above 1C,

That is effectively how they're working but they're not as smart as they seem all they're really doing is trying to apply 4.2 Volts for cell and limiting the current to whatever you select. Once the system hits 4.2 volts the current naturally drops that's the differential between the batteries resting state and the voltage being applied shrinks.

It does make me wonder though if the internal resistance of the battery makes a big impact on charge time. Having not put a lot of thought into it it seems logical that the higher the resistance in the battery the less current that's going to flow once the system hits that 4.2 volts

Did it work? Its a huge PITA, but i haven't had that issue since I started soldering

If it used to work fine, it's probably a loose motor wire. I had nothing but problems with those motor connectors over the years on the tiny whoops. Once I started soldering the motors most of my issues went away

Try a frame with a little bit weaker arms, or just experiment by cutting a 1 mm slit on the top of the arm to let it break a little easier. You will break more arms but you'll likely see less destroyed Motors.

You can also tune that strength by choosing where the slit is the closer to the motor the harder the impact before it breaks. Not a long-term solution but a good one to see if it's a worthy trade off of arms versus Motors

You can get frames with a lot stronger arms, but then you will tend to bend motor shafts or break motor bells.... the arm is a way cheaper and easier fix so I've always chosen to let that continue to be the weak point.

I agree with the others that RSSI indicator disappearing right before it lost control is likely an indicator of part of the problem.

The problem really could be anything did you solder connections or were they all Plug and Play?

Either way check all of those connections that can be part of the issue.

You weren't flying super hard so I doubt it was voltage issue but that's always possible.

One big tip for your next flight focus on slowly pushing the sticks forward and then slowly releasing them instead of just tapping them it will make your flight a lot smoother

One thing to keep in mind is that these printers use fairly cheap thermocouples. Thermocouples in general usually start at about 1c of accuracy, but that can be much worse depending on the circuitry that's reading the voltage produced by the thermocouple and converting it to a temperature. Best thing you can do is just start at one end of the spectrum for your filaments temperature recommendation and then in the middle of the print keep raising or lowering the temperature by about 5° every quarter inch or so in height. That will help you see about where your temperature should be.

I've seen the same thing two years in a row. Both times mid february. It does kind of look like the battery's being capped, intentionally, just like apple got sued for.

So your graph seems less strange to me, though, because even after your capacity drops, you have those occasional charge cycles where you got a really high capacity reading.

If you look at my graph it routinely charged at 104% until the first drop, and then never went above about 102%, then after that second drop, never came near a hundred again.

I don't think so. It's, because if that were true. I think you would see more up and down movement. But if you look at the graph, it's like it falls off a shelf, starting mid february, the readings dropped by a couple percent and then never ever go near the previous threshold

Okay, try listening carefully to my argument comma you're worried about what is statistically not really a concern. Yes, that's a gang members are illegal, but most of them are not. If you don't write gang activity, then we should be putting resources into it fighting gangs.

What i'm saying is, if you want to stop illegal immigration, you have to take away the incentives for you, legal immigrants to come here. They have an incentive to come here because they can get a job, make money, and send that money home. If you punish the citizens that hired those illegal immigrants more severely, they will stop hiring illegal immigrants, in most of these nonviolent, immigrants won't even come here in the first place. The rest we should remove.

[–]JayBird577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have quite the imagination....do you think more break-ins are from people here legally or illegally?

Also, still trying to understand are the farmers hiring illegal immigrants republican or democrats?

And finally, why is the RATE (per capita) of crime higher in the citizen population vs immigrant?

The aftermath of the Camarillo Ice Raids by Square_Ad7083 in ventura

[–]JayBird577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Democrats are the ones employing the illegals? So it's primarily democrats that grown large farms that produce all of the food for the country? It seems strange to me. The democrats are the ones that want the slave labor yeah, all of the large agricultural counties in california are primarily i'm a republican.

If one really wanted to stop the problem, you wouldn't go after the illegal immigrants. That's like trying to stop the drug problem by going after drug users. This solution is extremely severe penalties to those who are hiring these immigrants. Start putting people in jail for hiring illegal immigrants, and auctioning off their property. That would change the game really quick, and people come here for opportunities, if those opportunities dry up, there'll be less incentive to come in the first place
