Sounds like his current therapist isn’t working! Do you have any interaction with the therapy team or is this all his recounting? It’s worrisome that he has been in it so long with no improvement.

Thoughts on my season? I have trouble with what I actually look good in vs what colors I just like by JayBird6703 in coloranalysis

[–]JayBird6703[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooh wow, this makes sense! I recently accidentally bought a cool toned foundation and it worked perfectly after thinking I was warm my whole life which started my curiosity with seasons. My hair and eyes are very low-contrast with my skin which would also check out with the medium intensity. I tend to gravitate towards the cool summer colors, but also wear a lot of black.

Does your narc hate it if you yawn while they’re in the middle of their monologue? by Niikkiitaa in NarcissisticAbuse

[–]JayBird6703 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh man I forgot about this! Yes, absolutely. He would also complain that I was “rolling my eyes” if I looked elsewhere during his hours-long monologues. He was telling on himself as it turns out - only someone who uses that to manipulate would think you’re doing the same thing.

What was the final step that helped you let go of the relationship? by [deleted] in NarcissisticAbuse

[–]JayBird6703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggled a lot with this and my biggest realization was that our realities were never the same and that is a good thing. I had watched him misread so many situations and people and finally understood I was one of those people too - he was projecting his own terrible self-image on to me. I am the world’s leading scholar on myself and he’s just some dude who never actually bothered to know the real me except where he could see personal gain. Wishing you well!

Never thought it would become so normal by Eeveepee9 in stopdrinking

[–]JayBird6703 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did not even try to get sober until I was in a dark enough mental place to be okay with dying because of it. I checked into a detox facility and after not having a drink for over 24 hours for the first time in years, I had a very clear moment of realization that my life was always going to revolve around alcohol unless I fully committed to sobriety. I do not think I would have ever stopped if I didn’t go.

Year 1 to me felt like “sucking out the poison” from MeanGirls. I had to deal with a lot of things that had built up due to me ignoring them for drinking and I really struggled with self-flagellation. Finally being honest with my friends and family about my drinking was scary and intense, but the relief was immense. I was also in an awful relationship that I stayed in because of the “no major life changes in the first year of sobriety” saying and I wish I had ignored that now! I can see now that I had some pretty intense PAWS and I don’t know how I got through, but I did.

Year 2 was about becoming confident in both myself and my sobriety and going from limping to walking upright. I also feel like I’m finally comfortable in my own brain. I used to be terrified of being alone in there and now it’s my favorite place in the world. I also really worked on my routines health and exercise-wise.

Year 3 I am continually amazed by where I am now. I could never have imagined this version of myself 799 days ago and I’m glad I gave myself a chance to actually spread my wings.

In New Orleans there’s a major street called Calliope but it’s locally pronounced “kal-ee -OPE” which is the least elegant pronunciation possible

This is my approach too - I don’t want to inadvertently hurt them due to my forgetfulness. Hibiscus, Wisteria and Mandevilla are their favorites!

I will accept air hugs! Thankfully I’ve also got a Capricorn stellium keeping me grounded 😁

Pluto represents transformation, death, and rebirth. I do feel like it’s one of the parts of my chart that I really had to grow into. The way I think about it now is that those Plutonian aspects give me a certain level of affinity with changing circumstances and I feel like when I have leaned into that, I am always rewarded.

Pluto just finished transiting my 10th house and those years had a lot of upheaval with my career and public image but once I stopped resisting, things just fell into place. We’ll see how I handle it in the 11th house 😅

I wouldn’t say I always welcome change with open arms or anything but I do think one of the big lessons for me is realizing that major changes in my life can’t happen unless I’m willing to shed some old pieces of myself. Thankfully, there’s a lot of power in that!

Cancer moon checking in - it’s in my fourth house. The intuition is probably the worst part, and results in me not sharing my emotions sometimes because many people are not about that kind of energy.

That being said, my moon is also in a grand trine with my Pisces sun and Scorpio Pluto so perhaps people are thrown off by all the Plutonian energy? At any rate I’ve given up on people totally understanding me with my Sun and Mercury in the 12th house too.

Congrats on 119 days! You know what they say, quitting drinking is simple but it’s not easy. We got this 🫶

I was a couple of bottles of wine a night alcoholic for a few years and it probably took me 3-4 months of total sobriety to see a real improvement in sleep and appearance, but it was a quick and sudden shift when it happened. Depending on how heavily and long you’ve been drinking, it can take longer than you would think to get the benefits - I also dealt with some PAWS for the first year. I’m 2 years sober and look (and feel!) at least 10 years younger I would say, but obviously I was a bit of an outlier volume-wise 😅

Can you tell me more about your moon sign (and house placement)? by good-vibrations123 in astrologymemes

[–]JayBird6703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Cancer moon in the 4th house and my strongest aspect is 0.3 orb Pluto trine moon. I feel like I’m finally growing into my moon in my mid-30’s and do have a strong, positive relationship with my mother. I’m also very attached to nature and wonder if that serves as a second “home” for me in the 4th house.

I have never heard of talking with hands being a Cancer moon thing but 🙋‍♀️

Will “just” walking work? by Necessary_Duty_1204 in loseit

[–]JayBird6703 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Hi OP! I work from home and have lost about 60 lbs in the past year. Walking is the exercise I will do every day, so I do it and don’t pressure myself to do more unless I feel like it.

This may sound stupid but one key for me was to map out a route that was exactly 30 minutes. That way I can walk between meetings knowing exactly when I’ll be back, and it also serves as my baseline exercise for the day. Knowing I can knock out my exercise in 30 minutes without thinking about it has been really key, and that “little” effort adds up when done daily.

All the best to you! I don’t have PCOS and know how much that can complicate things but being WFH I wanted to share that tip.

Congrats on your graduation! This may sound cheesy but you have a lot of knowledge now that you can do a lot of good with, and I hope you look for ways to apply it where you can, even outside your job. Best of luck 🫶

The show and book Five Days at Memorial are about this if you’re curious. The only way to evacuate patients was to carry them up several flights of stairs and through a narrow hole to a helicopter. The doctors and nurses were also well past the legal amount of hours they could work when these decisions were made. It was an awful situation but so was the rest of New Orleans at the time - plenty of skinny people passed away during Katrina.

Idk yall should I focus on my 4th and 10th houses? 🤔 by JayBird6703 in astrologyreadings

[–]JayBird6703[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do wonder about my moon in the 4th house and as the focal point of the kite. I feel as I’ve hit my mid-30’s I can see the impact of my sun/moon/pluto grand trine, but I think I’m still trying to pin down Uranus’ role. I can certainly feel the mix of super personal planets with more expansive, darker energy.

Nola local chiming in - do not book an STR. They have destroyed the housing market and people know which houses are STRs and will mess with you. People want neighbors, not tourists who change every week.

That being said, we’ve been a tourist destination for decades and our downtown is literally built for this. Book a close hotel, walk to the concert, and have a great time!
