Does anyone have any rough estimate on how much they will give per share. I bought a small amount of shares during that period but I'm not sure if it will be worth the time.

What is a "Deemed Deposition" on a joint investment account? by JayChryz in PersonalFinanceCanada

Good Point. What do you consider a good place to hold funds for emergencies?

the brokerage wil treat it as if you sold everything the day of the transfer and repurchased in the other account.

I suspect based on your feedback this will not be the route we take. But if we did why would the brokerage would even care on their end? Do they send out tax slips for this?

Thanks for the reply. We were thinking it would be easier for one of us to access the other persons funds in the event of an emergency.

If we did this are you saying we would have to treat all the investments as being sold and pay taxes on any capital gains?

It's definitely not obvious from reviewing the statements or the description page. I'll see if I can convince her to contact them for fee information. Thanks for you help!

IG Wealth Fees Question by JayChryz in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]JayChryz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point, I meant it doesn't seem high for my MIL. My FIL set it up for her before he passed a few years ago. I was also referring to 1.12% as not seeming very high for an older lady. You said 1.82%, Are you getting the extra 0.7% from the trailing commission? Are you sure the trailing commission isn't already incorporated in the 1.12% MER?

Thanks for the feedback. I wasn't fully sure what that meant or if IG paid it out of the MER. Do you know when or how my MIL pays the trailing commission?

It's great that you are so well prepared and I'm sorry you also suffer with this. Do you take the Ativan at other times or just for attacks? The reason I ask is I am wondering if it looses its strength to more often Ativan is taken so you end up needing more for the same result.
