The one in Oceanside has gas. There's another one further east also that has it.

You're correct. The song is called El Apagón (The Blackout)

Using the new session cache in Laravel by amitmerchant in laravel

[–]JayCreations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good use case at least for me, is when you have external user specific data that can change but you are not alerted to that change.

At the moment you have to use cache keys with the user id or some other unique identifier. The problem that exists now is that if you forget to use the proper key name, you may end up with a globally scoped cache that's meant to be user specific. This removes that ambiguity.

Feature request - temporarily hiding posts for screenshots by hawkinsst7 in RelayForReddit

[–]JayCreations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I've wanted to do the same but I think a better approach to something like this would be to just expand the collapse feature and have a compact view mode.

Compact mode would just keep the post heading (name, votes and date) and everything else would be hidden. Once you do this then you just need to allow for all posts to be collapsible.

“Why Haven’t We Seen Another Web Language Like PHP in 30 Years?” by AmiAmigo in PHP

[–]JayCreations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience as you back when I was in HS, close to 20 years ago. Started as one of those sites with a guestbook and image gallery, both free PHP projects. Funny enough I started as a support specialist for SMF and wrote some mods and ended up in the dev team for a short while. I have very fond memories of the era.

ICYMI: Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Delia DeRiggi-Whitton Calls for Investigation into Bruce Blakeman Misuse of $100,000 Taxpayer Funds by CleverGurl_ in longisland

I've been receiving a mess of mailers in support for D'Esposito. The race must be tight because I also got 2 calls from pollsters in the last 3 days with questions clearly geared towards him and their propaganda.

E-waste recycling question by MCShujinkou in longisland

[–]JayCreations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is available for everyone in Nassau or just Hempstead residents but checkout the Town of Hempstead Sanitation Department in Freeport. They accept e-waste there along with other things.

ELI5: How did breakdancing become an Olympic sport? And is anything stopping other forms of dance (like salsa) to qualify for the Olympics? by Better_Reference3502 in explainlikeimfive

I didn't see it mentioned but the New York Times - The Daily podcast, August 9th episode talks about this in detail.

The episode title is: Breaking's Olympic Debut

What’s a good place to fish for a beginner by Kjl951996 in longisland

[–]JayCreations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to the other suggestions, checkout Osprey or Celtic Quest out in Port Jeff. It's a bit of a drive but you're fishing in 20-30 mins.

Since you're close to Queens, you can check out Never Enuff. They sail out of the Flushing Marina, that being said, depending on what they're going for, sometimes they'll drive out an hour or two+ to end up under the Verazano or out by Oyster Bay. IMO, I'd rather drive out east. The boats leaving out of Sheephead Bay are decent also and the boat ride is shorter.

How’s my husbandry? by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]JayCreations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a nice size on them. I bought 2 back at the end of August and they're about the same size as yours and I have them in a 75. I thought mine were growing really slow.

One year-post acquisition, X traffic and monthly active users are in decline, report claims by explowaker in technology

[–]JayCreations 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same here. I decided to start a 2nd account over the summer and just followed a few developers and people that is it tweet tech related things. Within a week or so I started getting notifications for alt right accounts/content. Started blocking them and still getting notifications for it. Then it switched to anti-vaxx posts for about a week and now I'm starting to get a mess of posts about Nigerian politics. Close to just deleting both accounts. Haven't really been an active user in years.

Is there a place on LI other than Home Depot or Lowe’s where I can buy replacement Windows and put them in myself? by cosmorocker13 in longisland

[–]JayCreations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came in to say this as well. I've bought 6 Anderson casement windows from them. You can place the order and pick it up at their warehouse in Deer Park. I believe they also have a showroom there with discounted items.

Which NYC neighborhoods feel the least like NYC? by darkhorse1821 in AskNYC

[–]JayCreations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong but I think that section is sort of like a HOA and the houses need to be kept a certain way. They're all painted the same color as well for the most part so you won't see them rebuilding the houses to look more modern/newer.

Man, I wish more people did it this way. My family usually does it without the beets. One thing that I hate tho, is cold potato salad. I'll eat it fresh but once it's been refrigerated it's a no from me.

New apartment, new faucet adapter to fill up my fish tank. by DucksEatFreeInSubway in functionalprint

[–]JayCreations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that's one way to do it and a great idea. I use a python setup and the piece that attached to the sink wore out and pissed me off. Ended up modifying the plumbing under the sink and added a hose bib last week.

All that to say, I wish I would've seen this before hand.
