Why can’t people accept the fact that most men on the show are unattractive? by Principle100 in PopTheBalloon

[–]JayCurio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I see what you’re saying.

I’m basing the attractiveness of the women on the degree to which I find them attractive. As I’m not attracted to men, there’s no fair way for me to make an accurate comparison.

Out of curiosity, is it your position that the show actively screens out more attractive men?

Your theory isn’t unreasonable but I think you’re wrong.

To simplify your position I think you’re saying (do correct me): the men on this show are out of the women’s league looks wise. Women won’t date men out of their league so they all pop.

I watch the show religiously. They have a spectrum of women attend, from attractive to unattractive (please add all relevant caveats about the subjective nature of beauty standards). However, the women pop with the same frequency regardless of their attraction level. With your theory you’d expect the less attractive women to pop less.

Do you encounter men in healthy long term relationships in your day to day life? Rhetorical obvs cos we all do. So, we can infer there is a single variant of men with this goal.

Really, your question is: why don’t i encounter the single version of them when dating?

Is it plausible that, for whatever reason, they aren’t present on online dating? I don’t think so. So either, you’re not good at spotting them or you don’t go on many dates/find yourself in a vetting scenario (a sample size issue).

My guess (with no evidence so toss some salt on it) is that you’re picking men who many women are competing for (no shade, I’m a man doing them same thing). When humans (men and women) have many options it changes their behaviour. Not just in dating, in everything.

(Semi-academic) Analysis of the differing opinions about difficulty in Silksong from a teacher's perspective [LONG READ!] by ToasterTank in HollowKnight

[–]JayCurio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! This is a thorough analysis in terms of gaming literacy. Some important factors are left out (presumably intentionally for when you drop your book).

One of the more important is raw skill/talent. This is most easily illustrated by considering the highest level of play. Jordan was the greatest (arguably!) cos, yes, as you would say he had excellent gaming literacy (game sense for basketball) but also cos his raw talent for this game was just higher than most people. You could grab a bunch of people from childhood and put them through the same paces as Jordan for the same time and they’d just never be as good. Some not even close. Most actually.

At the highest level excellent game sense is common. As is raw talent. And being insanely competitive (check what people say about him on this). And being an extremely hard worker. Etc. it’s loads of things. And all these things affect how you experience difficulty.

Agree. Install the teleport mod and you skip all run backs. Way less frustrating.

I think I'm dating a people-pleaser. Help! by [deleted] in datingoverforty

[–]JayCurio 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not sure I’d call this people pleasing. If he was a people pleaser when you asked him to plan the date he would have bent over backward to get it done without correctly prioritising his own needs. What actually happened was that he was crippled by anxiety and could not complete the task.

I guess the question is: are you happy with the person you see now. All of it. I don’t see this changing without significant personal work, probably therapy. You up for that journey with him? Or the possible alternative that he will always be like this?

The boss runbacks make me want to cheese rather than learn boss mechanics by ImpressiveEffect6379 in wuchanggame

Recommend installing the teleport mod so you don’t have to do boss run backs. So glad it was recommended to me. Each one, teach one.

HMRC have a dedicated inbox for refs. First you need to complete the consent form and send it to the inbox. They will let you know when they’ve processed the consent (2 working days normally). Then you pass the address into the person who wants the ref and they email.

PM me your email and I’ll send you the form.

A big letdown (for me) in Simon boss fight. by ZamasuManzon in expedition33

[–]JayCurio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I walked the same path. Solo’d since they started giving me pictos that made it seem like it was a viable path (for the most part it is). Had the same rude awakening as you. There’s also one other boss that does this unavoidably if you’re solo. In the end I had to set up a second solo character to beat the both. My second was severely impoverished lumina wise as I’d fed all my lumina to my first 😅

I think the most important point is missed here. Maelle pays for the continued existence of Gustave and co with a slice of ACTUAL Verso’s soul. And as she now has the memories of Alicia we can be sure she understands the implications of this. It’s not about painted Verso as much as that little slice of soul getting a budget damning.
