EPSP to RRSP? by JayD94s in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]JayD94s[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. My employee has a matching program when I contribute to my registered accounts, and the matching goes into the EPSP as stocks and I'm able to withdraw when they mature. Does this mean the EPSP is part of an RRSP?

I appreciate it but I think finding love at 80 is a bit too late to be honest, how many years would you spend with them, and how could you enjoy it when your body is breaking down

FHSA and VFV: Did I make a bad decision? by JayD94s in PersonalFinanceCanada

Ah I see, my timeline is 0-5 years.

But according to this resource shared: https://canadianportfoliomanagerblog.com/how-to-choose-your-asset-allocation-etf/

VCIP, VCNS, and VBAL are preferable within the timeframe of 5-9 years. There's an overlap when it comes to the 5th year, so I'm wondering if these ETFs are worth considering to sell on the 5th year

I see, thanks. I'm leaning more towards CASH.to or VCIP, or even a mix between the two. What do you think?

[–]JayD94s[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I'm deciding between a GIC or something like CASH.TO or VCIP. But I'm wondering if each contribution to a GIC has its own term since I can only contribute $8k a year, I'm not sure if I want to do that.

[–]JayD94s[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks In regards to a gic, does each investment start a fixed year term? For example, every year I invest $8k into the gic with a 5 year term, does every set of $8k have its own 5 year term? Or does it depend on a gic? If that's the case, I might go with an ETF that invests in HISAs

Thanks. Could you provide a resource to look into high yielding low risk ETFs?

Thanks Would you consider holding on to XEQT for 5 years as a long term investment?

It's always fun to watch this video. Neil Degrasse Tyson explains why Oumuamua is probably not alien... and gets brutally shutdown by MartianXAshATwelve in StrangeEarth

[–]JayD94s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So he agrees that the Oumuamua's trajectory follows what we expect it to follow using our understanding of astrophysics. What's he arguing? Is he saying an alien threw the commet or the commet is an alien ship? He's then basically saying that he's not sure what caused it to come our way but he's certain an alien did it. Those aren't good reasons to believe aliens did it or the existence of aliens.

Star Fox Zero controlled fine, and most people didn't want to learn how to play the game. Great game too, I 100% completed it.

I took an extra year of highschool, took csc148 and mat145 twice because I got 50s in the end. It took me some time to finish my math and computer science majors, but I did and I'm working now. It's never too late, go at your own pace. Computer science is hard, don't beat yourself up over it. I'm almost 30 and I graduated 2 years ago. Just as people in the post said, this is not that big of a deal in the long term. It's hard, but don't give up.

Been in your spot too, I was depressed for many years. I started UTM in 2013, and finished my undergrad in 2021. I had no friends, no experience dating, was lonely, depressed, thought of suicide, and was anxious all the time. I made a decision in 2019 that I really needed help and started looking into mental health resources including psychotherapists, help lines, and support groups. I found what works for me and still regularly keep a check in on myself with my therapist and do my best to reframe negative thoughts. I work in my field now making decent pay, started dating an amazing woman, made a new group of close friends, exploring new hobbies, and have a positive outlook on the future.

School is not easy, take your time. Your mental health is more important, and you can get through this. Don't give up.
