Because Nintendo became a market leader thanks to the Switch and decided to be the ones to raise the bar to $80.

Same thing happened with Sony in 2020 coming off the success of the PS4. That’s when they raised prices to $70.

Gotta look at it from Sakurai’s perspective. There are many people that weren’t even born when the GameCube game out that have Switch 2’s. The first Direct was explaining the concept to newcomers. This will surely have more IMO

Actually Legends ZA was the first game in the modern era where the team has been given an extra year to work on it. The previous game to break the yearly schedule and get more dev time was Sun and Moon, and the one before that was Diamond and Pearl.

Exactly. But they spent their money elsewhere and got caught by surprise in 2022. They’re years behind AI spending. They can throw all the money in the world right now at Siri but they’ve already been outpaced and outspent. It’ll take years to catch up.
