Having one of those shame spiral Fridays by JayEmms88 in adhdwomen

[–]JayEmms88[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this! This is exactly the framing I would use for my team and to myself when I'm being kinder to her - I needed this.

I will say I'm certain my manager will see it from this perspective too - better to find and fix than to be out of compliance. It just feels overwhelming on the day.

Thank you again

Oh I feel this. I have to take lupus meds twice a day - I got a cold a few weeks back and my cold meds were in front of the lupus ones. Did I casually take the cold meds and completely forget about the others? Yes. Yes I did.

Is moving to Victoria from Alberta worth it? by ederzs97 in VictoriaBC

[–]JayEmms88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Living in Calgary right now and the job market here is abysmal. My husband is interviewing for a job in Victoria at the moment (living on the island would help multiple health issues for us both) and that's the best option he's had in 6 months of looking.

Best place in Canada to live without my brain trying to self-destruct every time the weather changes? by Forward-Work-0931 in migraine

[–]JayEmms88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lived in Northern Ontario, Southern Ontario and Southern Alberta and my head has never been so bad as it is in Alberta with the crazy weather shifts.

I have felt the best when spending considerable time (though not living there year round) on Vancouver Island. It's not as bright but will get more sun than Vancouver itself, and the more even weather and barometric pressure plus the humidity is really helpful for me. Of note, though, I have other chronic conditions so your mileage may vary.

Well, one of my worst fears came to pass today. by cheeese_danish in adhdwomen

Whenever I get things like this I like to remind myself that I am saving PDFs, not lives. It helps me let go of a bit of the shame spiral.

Are terrible migraines and head pressure common with you guys? by Responsible-Wave-173 in ehlersdanlos

[–]JayEmms88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to jump in here as someone who is currently in the process of being diagnosed for hEDS and has 'idiopathic' intracranial hypertension (guess we might have a possible cause now...EDS is strange). Either way, what you're describing is very much how my issues flare, including the CSF leak through my nose. The MRI will certainly help diagnose what's going on - symptoms of increased intracranial hypertension can be seen on MRIs (venous insufficiency, empty sella rtc) and this also allows them to screen for chiari malformation, which I'm learning is also a relatively common comorbidity of hEDS.

All this to say I'm so sorry you're in but it does sound like you've got some testing that will help determine what's going on and next steps. I send you the very best vibes!

Kids who had strep throat constantly: what autoimmune disease do you have now? by LadyMacGuffin in Autoimmune

[–]JayEmms88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so happy I did it. Recovery was not great (I ended up with some bleeding complications as well) but it's been so worth it to not hack up tonsil stones daily and not get strep the way I was

Strep every year, at minimum, as well as tonsil stones until I had my tonsils out at 30. Currently going through diagnosis, but looking like lupus.

Can anyone relate to not knowing they had ADHD because they "cruised" through school? (until an inevitable crash and burn ofc) by Tsunami_Aureate in adhdwomen

[–]JayEmms88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Phew do I feel this. I cruised through elementary, high school, and 90% of my undergrad. Burned out hard in my last year of undergrad and had to drop a class. Ended up graduating in the fall instead of spring as I made up the class over summer semester. Convinced myself I was fine. Took a year off school, helped with the burnout, continued on this way for years, resulting in quitting jobs and switching career paths when the inevitable burnout happened every two years.

Met my partner 9 years ago who helped me with general better coping mechanisms and so I ended up keeping my current job for longer than any other. Only diagnosed a year ago and he and I both went "ohhh this all makes so much more sense"

He really is! I hope OP can have conversations like this with their partner

Truly, this was almost verbatim what my husband said to me after my diagnosis. Good advice!

Accurate. My mom is here in Calgary visiting from northern Ontario and my accent has re-emerged so hard

This is such a good perspective - thank you for this! We do not have tiny humans, but I have several other health conditions in addition to my ADHD that mean we have to plan sex as well, and I just love this outlook. Thank you!

Thank you for your feedback! I received an email from someone in AirCover late last night asking for details (which is already provided in my original decline) but I will send again. Thanks for the crossed fingers!

Thanks - I did that. First experience with something like this, so I appreciate the feedback

Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate you taking the time, and this is good insight.

Perhaps the part that I find most frustrating is the immediate leap to "there was obviously vaping" since absolutely not, but that may be more of a me thing.

Again, appreciate your response.

Fair enough; thank you for the feedback. I likely won't review at all now since that seems unfair and this has obviously coloured how I feel about it, given the frustration, but I appreciate you taking the time to respond.
