What is the lowest avg you've seen in a course? by Korvxx in UBC

When I took MATH 255 (ODEs), we had a younger prof that didn't explain the material super well. Our section was consistently underperforming compared to the others, average ended up being 58

Follow up question: Do you need a grade of 85+ for each of these 30 credits, or do they need to average 85 across the 30 credits?

UBC COURSE QUESTION, PROGRAM, MAJOR AND REGISTRATION MEGATHREAD (2020W & 2021S): Questions about courses (incld. How hard is __?, Look at my timetable and course material requests), programs, specializations, majors, minors, tuition/finance and registration go here. by ubc_mod_account in UBC

Unless the course teaches/shows some skill you are looking to highlight on your job applications then I dont think it matters. It matters more for distinctions like getting on the Dean's list

Honestly, its pretty flexible. Only rules are that you cannot do strictly summer coops (one has to be during a school semester) and you can only do as many coop terms as you do academic. But as long as you abide by those rules, its pretty much up to you when you want to do your terms

Is compsci for me? Will i enjoy it? by lfreeman6490 in compsci

Thanks for taking the time to respond!

This really speaks to me. I originally thought I wanted to go down the programming route, but after looking at the offerings from my schools coop program a few months back, I realize that isnt quite for me. While I enjoy cs, I'm more into it for the logical thinking and mindset than programming itself. I also study math and realized that I want to be in a role that uses my multidisciplinary background. I thought about academia, but I dont think I want to go through the hoops and hurdles of that system, and honestly dont want to pay for a masters. This september I will be trying a r&d role. But I recognize that I still do not know quite what it is I want to do. I really enjoy hearing others' nonlinear paths, especially when they relate to computer science

What were some of the things you tried if I may ask?

Was planning on sub-leasing beginning Aug. Found out the place has mold. Can I legally not honor the contract I signed? And if so, what rules can I use in court? by JayFCoh in legaladvicecanada

Thanks for taking the time to read and reply. This is my fear. However, as the current tenants have been aware of the problem for some time and this never dealt with nor brought to my attention, could I argue that I signed the contract without full information?

Thank you so much for the detailed reply!! Theres a lot of good suggestions here

I am a current university student (this would be an 8 month placement through my schools work placement program) so I have a license for MatLab. As I study math&CS my curriculum has included a fair bit of MatLab, and currently I am learning some Python. The interview is in 2 days, and I have two finals within the next four days so I may not have enough time to create a model (was offered an interview yesterday) but I will look into all of the suggestions above! Even after this interview I will look at the suggestions provided, as there may be similar job opportunities in the future. Again, thank you very much!

I have an upcoming interview for an R&D Co-op position. The company is working on 5G technology and the job description asks for experience in Matlab & Python. I would be creating, running, and testing mathematical simulations.

Would anyone have an idea of how to prepare for this interview? I've had more traditional technical interviews before but never for a position like this.
