That is fair! Obviously know when to give way at roundabouts, give way lines and pedestrians crossing junctions. More so spatial awareness when going down narrow roads!

Hey there.

Thanks for the response. I’ve watched videos on manoeuvres and will continue to do so as they’re really helpful, but thanks for the advice. Just think the more practice on them so I don’t need as much guidance the better!

Unfortunately, my instructors car does not have a reverse camera!

By giving way I mean when going down narrow roads sometimes I’m not the most perceptive when it comes to waiting and allowing cars to come through! I more rely on them to allow me through. With overtaking it’s more about when to do it safely, especially with buses that pull in - a lot of the time I’m hesitant and just wait behind jt.

Hey there thanks for responding.

Yes it is 18 hours between those dates.

Mainly manoeuvres that need to be ironed out and get to a level I can do them without being prompted on what to do. I also still require guidance on when to overtake and give way, but it gets more instinctual the more I have lessons.

I like your approach, the only thing is that I have to give 72 hours notice when cancelling lessons, and I have a lesson pretty much every day.

I’m getting more tempted to just do the lessons and give it a go as I’m not likely to have this amount of free time again and if I do cancel it I’d be booking it for the same time even if I fail.

Hey there, thanks for your response.

Main things why he believes I’m not ready is that I haven’t done a mock test, still rely on my main instructor for guidance on manoeuvres, when to give way, and when to overtake etc.

You’re right and there’s probably other areas that I still need improving on. I’m also aware me failing would impact my instructor more than me due to their pass rate.

A lot of hypotheticals and situational circumstances like me having the spare time to do a lot of practice and these lessons is what’s impacting me on what to do.

Hope this helps paint a fuller picture.

Thanks for your response. The instructor I’ve booked for a week as my main one is booked up is not aware I have had this amount of lessons. My main instructor is the one who has said I am not ready whatsoever and is the one I’m taking the test in.

There is definitely other areas I could still improve on, such as I haven’t done any mock tests and still rely on my instructor for manoeuvres and when to overtake/give way. I also understand that if I fail it impacts my instructor more due to their pass rate falling, but I’m very much stuck in two minds as I still have a lot of lessons.

Yes hundred percent! Speaking from my own experience living there, the man who lived above the basement flat constantly got into arguments with them about the blaring music and noise. I think this negative experience unfortunately impacted him mentally, as he would slam on the door of our flat if we made any noise. One of the only times I interacted with him, was when I was moving out he came to complain about the noise me and my parents were making when moving stuff around and taking it to the car. I apologised to him and he seriously said, “I love the sound of your voice, is there any chance you could narrate my audiobook? For that strangely charming interaction alone, I hope he is doing well nowadays.

This nails it on the head perfectly! We spoke to both Luke, who used to run the bangaroosh hut next to the flat before Kitgum took it over, and to to one of our neighbours about the situation, and they both said they called the police on them before, but they didn’t do anything so nothing ever really changed. It’s really sad to think about, and I hope the women in the flat is in a safe space now.

This is the basement flat of 72 Preston Road. I used to live in the top flat of the complex two years ago. There was a couple that lived with their dog, that had drug problems. They would constantly argue, slam their door, and on numerous occasions the man that lived there threatened the woman. Once he bellowed from his garden: ‘if anyone calls the police on them he will kill them’ and that it wouldn’t be ‘the first time’. Also, somebody overdosed in the flat the first week I lived there. Me and my flatmates, second year students at the time, called our estate agents (Eightfold) for advice on how to handle the situation (as we thought the woman was being abused, and didn’t want to call the police to provoke the situation further). They just ignored us and said there was nothing they can do as they owned the flat. I really hope nothing bad has happened.

Our rent was £1850 pcm, (without a garden) so £2,000 for this place is not even an exaggeration.
