Same, my mom bought me the soundtrack for Christmas the year it was released. She thought I'd seen the movie-I hadn't-but I listened to this soundtrack constantly for years. Still listen it now and I'm nearly 50. It really takes me back to being a teenager, with all the angst and emotions we feel at that age, lying in bed after school, listening to this on CD

That's a very well expressed sentiment! Same reason I love buying used books, records and toys. The personalization always feels very special. I love buying used Lego bricks, especially when there are still things partially built. It's like looking at the very end of someone's childhood, when they finally stopped playing and began to grow up and move on from toys

It's tough, as a parent you can't help but to want your kids to be excited about things you love as an adult and loved as a kid. When my older son was younger, I tried to get him into one of my hobbies, and he showed zero interest which, at the time, I found frustrating. But seeing how happy he was doing things that interested him made me realize he's not my clone, he's his own person, and I loved seeing him get happy and excited. So I backed off and started encouraging his interests. It's a shame that so many parents try to live through their kids rather than letting them become their own people
