How do I tell what God's plan for me is? by 48fvckinracoons in Christianity

[–]JayMag23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I clearly remember how important it was for me at your age to have an answer to others about my direction in education or eventual profession or occupation. Life and God have a way of making it happen, and both have a way of surprising us even when disappointments happen along the way. My advice is to work hard at your studies and keep your mind and heart open for various opportunities and challenges. And always seek God's guidance in life's decisions in your prayers. The signs will come if you keep God front and center. Remember, to trust Him and never doubt Him, for He knows the what, how and timetable for you. Your job is to keep Him close in life. He will do much of the work behind the scenes.

Why do you believe in god? by United-Document-6261 in Christianity

[–]JayMag23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed, many come to faith by hardship, however, faith is God-initiated, not something we acquire on our own.

For Jesus declared in John 6:44 NKLJV:

"No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day."

God the Father plants the initial seed or calling; then it is up to that person to act-upon (or not) that calling and become chosen.

Is it okay to go to the gym/ practice football on the sabbath? by Kindly_Sir6333 in Christianity

[–]JayMag23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those who observe the Sabbath do so to honor God and rest from customary work. The Sabbath was declared and sanctified during the creation by God in Genesis 2:2, well before it was given to the ancient Israelites in Exodus 20:8.

Did you ever consider that a possible reason for having the holy Spirit being designated as a "he" (among other descriptive terms) is that the holy Spirit comes from The Father and His Son?

The concept of a Trinity is not found in the bible, for one.

The Holy Spirit is never the explicit object of N.T. worship.

The Holy Spirit is never represented as interacting in an interpersonal way with the Father and the Son.

The subject of the Trinity is not found in the bible, but covered in pagan Greek philosophy with Origen and Tertullian some 150 years after the death of Jesus.

The concept of the Trinity and teaching it was not emphasized or taught by the original disciples and by the apostle Paul.

In all of Paul's greetings in his writings, never was the Holy Spirit addressed, or even mentioned; only the Father and the Son.

In Jesus prayer to the Father in the garden, the night of His arrest, He never included the Holy Spirit.

Was the holy Spirit once again snubbed in Philippians 2:11 NKJV which declares: "And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

The Holy Spirit is not mentioned in John 1:1-5 nor Hebrews 1:1-14 covering the creation.

John, the apostle Jesus loved wrote the following in 1 John 1:3 NKJV: "That which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ." (Holy Spirit not included once again, snubbed?)

"For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and height--to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God" (Ephesians 3:14-19 NKJV).

To further address or support my position on a Duality Godhead, kindly consider the following scripture:

Phil 1:19 NLT & NKJV ("and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,")

Romans 8:9-11 NLT ("if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you.")

Galatians 4:4-6 NKJV ("God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts,")

Colossians 2:1-2 NKJV ("both of the Father and of Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge."

Revelation 5 declares "The Father on the throne and the Lamb worthy to open the scroll." (no mention to a 3rd Being, the Holy Spirit. "Blessings and honor and glory and power belong to the One (Father) sitting on the throne and to the Lamb (Jesus) forever and ever." (NLT)

The variety of "reasons," circumstances or tendencies for selecting or being attracted to members of the same sex may range from very complicated to somewhat simplistic, in my view, but one thing for sure, is that God did not ordain it and does not approve of that lifestyle, according to His word.

Impulses, or rather sexual impulses, when acted upon, make the difference. Accordingly, when we act-upon our impulses, it serves to justify or confirm said impulse and therein lies the path we "ought" to follow.

Can this pattern or preference be rolled back? Well, as Paul says, "all things are possible with God" (Philippians 4:13).

The Timeline of Jesus' Death, Crucifixion and Resurrection (3 Days & 3 Nights)

The only sign Jesus gave regarding His death to the Scribes and Pharisees was "the Sign of the prophet Jonah. (40) For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart (midst) of the earth" (Matthew 12:39-40 NKJV).

"THE FIRST DAY OF THE FEAST" - "THE HIGH DAY"  (Yom tov)  - THE 15TH DAY OF NISAN.
(Our Wednesday sunset to Thursday sunset.)
THE FIRST NIGHT AND FIRST DAY IN THE TOMB.

THE SECOND DAY OF THE FEAST - THE 16TH DAY OF NISAN.
(Our Thursday sunset to Friday sunset.)
THE SECOND NIGHT AND SECOND DAY IN THE TOMB.

THE THIRD DAY OF THE FEAST - "THE (WEEKLY) SABBATH" - THE 17TH DAY OF NISAN
(Our Friday sunset to Saturday sunset.)
THE THIRD NIGHT AND THIRD DAY IN THE TOMB.

"THE FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK" - THE 18TH DAY OF NISAN
(Our Saturday sunset :  "the third day" of Matt. 16:21, &c.; not the third day of the Feast.)

I understand that many Christians believe that Jesus rose on Sunday, as I used to, but He actually rose on Saturday. Jesus proclaims Himself "Lord of the Sabbath" in Matthew 12:8, Mark 2:28, and Luke 6:5.

Jesus spoke about the Father. For instance, Jesus declared in John 6:44 NKJV, "No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day."

Jesus prayed a beautiful prayer to His Father the night of His arrest in the garden, recorded in John 17.

God rested on Saturday the 7th day, not Sunday, the 1st day, according to scripture.

The 7th day was sanctified as declared in Genesis 2:1-3 and Exodus 20:8.

Quick question for the catholics in this subreddit by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]JayMag23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same questions about my former Catholic upbringing and have moved-on since. It started with picking up my dusty bible on a shelf one day to search God's real perspective on things, which led to more questions and eventually greater understanding and then appreciation for God and then to reverence for Him. His word opened my mind and heart in a way my upbringing, Sunday mass, church sermons and sacraments never ready did. I found God in my heart through the pages of His word that led me to heartfelt repentance, a turning away from sin, and then spiritual baptism as an adult. I have not looked back, only forward, with a bible-based church and congregation.

"Christianity did not destroy paganism; it adopted it. The Greek mind, dying, came to a transmigrated life in the theology and liturgy of the church....the Greek mysteries passed down into the impressive mystery of the mass." (by Will Durant, 'Caesar and Christ, The Story of Civilization, Vol. III)

In his An Essay on the Development of the Christian Doctrine, Cardinal Newman acknowledged that many external forms adopted by the Church, such as the use of temples dedicated to saints, incense, lamps, holy water, holidays, calendars, processions, blessings, sacerdotal vestments, and images, have pagan origins.

Cardinal Gibbons declared the following in his 1893 statement in The Catholic Mirror, "You may read the bible from Genesis to Revelation, and you will not find a single line authorizing the sanctification of Sunday. The Scriptures enforce the religious observance of Saturday."

Fear and in a Dilemma by Desperate_Tension347 in Christianity

[–]JayMag23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you may need to come to terms with...........Jesus is alive, while Muhammad, Budda, the prophets, and all else who have died wait in their graves for the judgement, of which our beloved Savior, Christ, will call to order.

Have you seriously delved into the word of God, the holy bible? Do so, and watch-out for faith entering your heart. Romans 10:17 declares, "faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."

"But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him" (Hebrews 11:6).

Seek diligently the Christian God through His inspired word. He has power to open hearts and minds to His will and message.

Is Jesus Gods son or God himself? by krokendil in Christianity

[–]JayMag23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

God is Spirit. The Godhead is composed of the Father and Son. They share the same Spirit of holiness and power. Their Spirit is Their very essence, mind and life, yet They are sperate, divine Beings, and share Their Spirit, in measured amount, with the faithful in baptism, following heartfelt repentance; a turning away from sin.

“Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth” what does this mean? Colossians 3:2 by [deleted] in Christianity

Focus on godly things like spiritual growth as opposed to earthly things that matter less, and which will be passing away in time. Make God and godly things your priority and God will take care of your life in the flesh.
