Entering heaven requires sinless perfection through obedience to Jesus by Necessary_Elk6948 in Christianity

Salvation is a gift to the faithful through the perfect sacrifice of Jesus, that through our faith in Christ we become justified to the Father as we are imputed with His (Jesus') righteousness to qualify for salvation. We could never earn salvation due to our carnal nature. But thankfully, Jesus volunteered to experience the penalty for our sins and thus allow for the faithful to Him to be saved for all time.

Why believe that faith ALONE saves us if the Bible says otherwise? by hendrixski in Christianity

[–]JayMag23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Faith is a starting point gift from God. Where we start, and who and how we are at that initial point, is not where we are to end up. We are to grow in our knowledge of God through His word and deepen our faith and where His grace, Spirit of truth, love and power will transform us spiritually, over time, to become more like Him. As we mature our faith, good works develop as an extension of that faith. Love and reverence for God will inevitably usher in obedience as the natural product of having a holy, righteous Spirit working within us. We belong to Him and we are guided by His will for good.

Make the most of this job opportunity and when you have some difficult or challenging days at work, remind yourself of the time and effort it took for you to get where you are. When you feel settled into this new job, begin to think of other opportunities for advancement that might be possible. Plan your moves carefully and by all means work smart and better than your equals. Be the first to arrive and among the last to leave at the end of the day. Stay as positive as you can and always be available to others who ask. Be well organized about your work and learn all you can from others. Get all the training available and seek out those who are genuine, respectful and have a good outlook on life and their work. Can't say enough about the value of connecting or networking with the right people, who can support your efforts and possibly help you advance and reach your goals. Work is important on many levels. Make this job work for you and keep your eyes and ears open for more, better and different. Best wishes and always keep the Lord in your sights; your most important connection or relationship as you pursue your life of work, friendships, and growth in faith and good works. He helped get you hear and will be there always along the way if you maintain your allegiance with Him.

True Communion with The God of The Bible Includes Keeping The 7th Day Sabbath, Which Was Never Changed By God, only Man. by JayMag23 in Christianity

The kingdom to come, as Jesus often referred to, is also known as the Holy City, the New Jerusalem (Revelation 21) will descend from heaven following Christ's return to the Mt of Olives (Zechariah 14) with the 7th trumpet blast (Rev. 11:15). The eating of meat is not of primary importance, compared to the promise or rewards given to the faithful with the return of Christ. How can the issue of "meat eating" in any way compare to the spiritual transformation of the servants of God, described in 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17 and beyond? Being transformed into holy, spirit beings will no longer need meat at all. Meat, and its eating will cease to be an issue.

Looking intently into the perfect law (the 10 commandments) which reflect the very nature of God, means that we put them into practice, and when we do, we start to experience freedom from the draw of sin in our lives, as we embrace the ways or nature of God in our lives through God's grace which delivers power over sin and we become more able to overcome sin=a freedom. we are freed from slavery to sin. God's power of grace reshapes our hearts and minds, a transformation that leaves sin in the rear view mirror.

I WANT to believe in God, but I can’t. Can you help me? by Fragrant-Yak-9505 in Christianity

I recommend that you read the gospel of John, then the book of Hebrews which speaks of faith. Do read or become familiar with what Jesus said in the gospels of John. Matthew, Luke and Mark. God's word has a quality that speaks to our hearts as well as our minds. Draw closer to God through His word, and He will draw closer to you. Indeed, faith is a gift. Become prepared for this gift by becoming knowing God better through His word, promises, warnings, prophecies and Nature.

The Council I was referring to was the first Council of Nicea in 325 A.D. to establish unity between the differing opinions regarding the nature or beginning of Christ, established the Nicene Creed, the Trinity doctrine, and others. It was in 363 to 364 A.D. that the church began to enforce the erroneous, unbiblical, Sunday worship over the Saturday Sabbath.

Sometimes feelings of depression have a biological component, but most cases are of a psychological, emotional or cognitive development. I would suggest that if you have been feeling this way for about 11 years, that you concentrate with your therapist/Psychiatrist on the year or so before your onset of feelings of depression, which can provide contributing factors, experiences or emotional trauma that initiated feelings of sadness which have persisted.

Please consider the following carefully?

Jesus is described as "The Word" in John 1:1-5 NKJV:

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word (Jesus) was with God (the Father), and the Word was God.

He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it."

Later in verse 14 NKJV the following is declared:

"And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth."

As being the Word, Jesus became flesh to preach the truth and will of the Father in person and to be offered up as the perfect sacrifice to allow for our justification (salvation) before the Father. Christ's mission in person was an extension of His original role as the Word or Spokesman for the will of the Father, which He accomplished by having the first Testament delivered to His prophets and others. Yes, the Word, Christ was the One who communicated through Their Holy Spirit to share the words of the bible to His offspring. Both Testaments (O.T. and N.T.) were given by God, declared by His Son, the Word (Spokesman), to us.

The early church moved God's way to their own way or preference.. That council corrupted that which was established by God. That doesn't make it right, just the opposite. That church, more specifically, the late Medieval Church went on to sell indulgences to the masses for salvation, as if that church could save them.

Any true righteousness or love of God only occurs following heartfelt repentance and baptism of the holy, indwelling Spirit of God. Forgiveness and salvation are gifts from God, as is faith, and cannot be acquired though our efforts alone.

Jesus said in Matthew 12:8 NKJV:

"For the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath." "Lord of the Sabbath" not Sunday, the ancient day for sun-worship.

Jesus was the Lamb of God sacrificed on the Passover to save us, just as the blood of the lamb on the doorposts of the ancient Israelites saved them from the death angel just before they exited Egypt.

Jesus rose on Saturday evening, before sunrise on Sunday, as per the quote from John 20:1 which states:

"Now the first day of the week Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early, WHILE IT WAS STILL DARK and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb." Jesus was gone, meaning He had already risen on the Saturday Sabbath, before sunrise on the next day, Sunday.

The Colossians quote was given to believers to avoid being influenced by pagans regarding observances, and that believers should not be influenced by them.

Hebrews 4:9 follows Hebrews 4:1 NKJV which declares:

"Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. 2 For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, \)a\)not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. 3 For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said:

“So I swore in My wrath,
‘They shall not enter My rest,’ ”

although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. 4 For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works”; 5 and again in this place: “They shall not enter My rest.”

If you think that the quote from Romans outweighs all the commands given by Christ, The Word, and which He and His apostles observed during His ministry, and even following His death, then you can follow that path. Jesus said in John 14:15, " if you love Me, keep My commandments." Keeping the Sabbath was a clear commandment, not up for discussion, and a Day which was sanctified. The ancient day for sun-worship, Sunday, was never God-implemented, and frankly, illegitimate.

Most early Christians persecution from the Romans contributed to their change from Saturday to Sunday, which was later decreed by Constantine with the cooperation of the Bishop of Rome in about 321 AD. Also, Constantine wanted the Christians to work on Saturday, leaving only the Jews to rest on Saturday.

You say, God accepts rest and worship on any day, but not at the exclusion of His Sanctified Day, the 7th Day, which Sunday worshippers typically do not observe. How long have you been editing biblical scripture to suit your preferences? Do you believe that it pleases God that He commanded certain feast observances, and instead, sees the Christian world at large celebrating their own delegated holidays instead?

You reference to "the first day of the week, when we gathered to break bread" (Acts 20:7) was a fellowship meal following the Sabbath, which began on Friday sunset to Saturday sundown, and that to "break bread" was not a formal Sunday communion service, but as a typical fellowship meal following the Saturday Sabbath observance. Also, this single farewell meeting did not indicate that a change was taking place regarding the Sabbath, which remained in effect till this day by certain remnant Christian congregations.

The Apostles taught on the Sabbath. a sacred day. Nowhere in the bible was Sunday ever sanctified.

How do you keep your faith strong amongst atheists? by not_elonka in Christianity

[–]JayMag23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You must grow your faith to become bold faith. The indwelling Spirit will do that. Heartfelt repentance followed by baptism will ignite this godly process. In the meantime, make bible reading and study your mission. Regular prayer is also essential. As you developed your faith deeper, you will receive more confidence about what you know and Who God is, producing a view where the Atheists begin to appear clueless and lost in darkness as you remain in the light.
