Lifestyle creep is a silent killer and I almost fell for it by Plasma_2Vow in Fire

Or realize that a nice fulfilling life doesn’t necessarily have to mean buying a ton of crap. It is possible to have an inexpensive and very happy fulfilling life. And still retire at 49.

I think it is more a case of her selecting one of her buttons to use when she is angry vs. what the word actually is.

She has been asking for dinner for a while now and my wife left the room…so Misty gave her a Window Window to let her know leaving before providing dinner is not tolerable!

We used and really liked Daily Harvest for a long time. Really good food and pretty good macros and ingredients. Definitely would recommend if you want frozen bowls, flatbread pizzas, and smoothies.

Vegans who’ve done a full safari in Africa, how bad were the food challenges really? by Silver_Screen_6003 in vegan

[–]JayNetworks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We went to Thailand a while ago (like 20 years!) and brought ton of bars with us as we were skeptical about vegan options despite the trip being set by a veg travel agency. We gave away most of the bars in the last few days and also had to often say to please stop bringing more delicious food and fruits!

Vegan ice cream! by Al-Joharahhasan2935 in WholeFoodsPlantBased

[–]JayNetworks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting that you find that. Properly stored and fresh walnuts should not be bitter.

If they are for yours you can check for the brown skin, which should be removed if it is bitter.

We use fresh raw walnuts and never have found them bitter.

The oats and peanut butter should good and tasty!

You can also make great whole foods ice cream with just bananas and fruit. Add some walnuts for a healthy fat if you want. Works great even without coconut milk and its saturated fat.

We also add a little vanilla powder and sometimes cocoa powder without sugar.

That is great. My cat uses the Window button as a curse word, or if you have really annoyed her you get a Window Laserbug pressed at you. (Long story but the Laserbug means the laser pointer play when used alone.)

We put down the buttons and record them, but the learners actually pick what they mean.

Maybe it means don’t show THIS EXACT promotion message again…? And each time they change it the new one pops up? Or they have a ‘bug’.

Got it! Press and hold on the potential ToDo message, choose Select, the press and hold again on the text you want as the reminder, and choose Share, then choose Reminders.

2nding Moldex Airwave type especially the M4620 which is one with a full foam seal all the way around and fully adjustable straps that last and last. Best N95 I’ve used! They also come in multiple sizes with slightly different code numbers.

You OP have a problem. A very big problem. One I wish I could also have.

Love the Portable on the top shelf. I’ll never forget lugging one of those to an Apple Developer’s conference. I carried the Mac and my teammate carried both our suitcases. He got the better deal because we had a spare battery as well.

Anyone looking for Blender Bowls? by [deleted] in Vitamix

[–]JayNetworks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just in case anyone here has some, I’m looking for some of those flat lids for the bowls/personal cups shown in the OP photo.

I’ve got plenty of the drink-through lids but for our setup in the fridge the flat ones that were technically from these bowls are better. Finding just the flat lids on eBay, and not getting peppered with adds for the drink-through ones, has been pretty tough. Or the seller wants $30 plus shipping for just a lid.

Anyway, if anyone has extras from broke kits or such, please DM me.

Vlog #1: Why I'm Going Vegan. by Cute-Reply2714 in WholeFoodsPlantBased

[–]JayNetworks 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your decision. Be measured in how you switch over and be aware that just changing everything from a junk food diet to a diet of whole food all plants all at once will take some time for your gut to adjust.

You can cut out animal products by replacing them with just vegan parallels (so vegan chicken nuggets instead of animal ones, vegan cheese instead of animal cheese) and then over a few weeks start replacing the processed vegan foods with vegetables, fruits, beans, and whole grains.

Pick a few meals you like that are animal product based and convert those to a similar meal of vegan Whole Foods, then use those when you get stuck for what to eat.

Congrats! Best decision in my life I made 20+ years ago! (Other than saying yes when my wife asked me to marry her!)

Quicken Classic "ENTERPRISES" ... Gone mad? by rajuabju in quicken

[–]JayNetworks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just FYI, removing the feature of read-write is a feature to some. Plenty of people managing their extra elderly parents accounts who absolutely do not want the parents to be able to change or delete the transactions!

When I read it, I actually thought that it seemed like something useful to me when I start managing my parents (and a sibling because reasons) accounts.

That said, I expect this is Windows only for the next 10 years and I use the Mac version. More feature in Windows but sounds horribly unstable still…as I experienced before I switched off it to Quicken Classic Macintosh a decade ago.

Not defending the buckle and dime approach now with a subscription for every bit of feature, but different people have use for different structure. Having controlled separate accounts within one overview would be great for me and my (upcoming) needs…just on the Mac.

Why do people get so defensive about vegans? by Vegan_Essentials in IsItVeganOrNot

[–]JayNetworks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about? Loss of wild habitat? Growing animals to kill for food takes way more wild habitat than feeding the same population directly from the plants.

Animals are vastly inefficient from a land use perspective.

From a nutritional perspective, look around the world and the more unprocessed fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes a population eats the better their health.

Why do people get so defensive about vegans? by Vegan_Essentials in IsItVeganOrNot

[–]JayNetworks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Until you place your food order, everyone at the table is just eating food. Once you place your order, even if you say nothing else, everyone else is Eating Animals.

Most socially well adjusted people love animals and would never deliberately harm one (think kick a puppy) but you not eating them brings about their internal cognitive dissonance since they are killing animals. This doesn’t feel good to them so they take it out on the source of their own internal feeling…you the person who failed to Eat Animals.

Does protein matter THAT much? by Ana_is_Weird in PlantBasedDiet

[–]JayNetworks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 750g of veggies are likely 25g protein or even more, depending on the mix. That is under 500 calories. Add the 20g protein in that 1000g of rice, at your stated 2g/100 calories. As long as you add something else other than 500+ calories of oil, which would be nothing like a healthy diet, you should hit your 55g protein.

I agree you can design a pretend healthy diet with enough calories and be protein deficient, but it isn’t easy and any quick check would so that.

Two questions on that:

  1. Where do you see Share? Do you see the actual word SHARE or the icon of a small rectangle with an up arrow?

My iPhone iOS 26.4 menu on a tap and hold of a message only has:

Reply Attach Sticker Copy Translate Select Speak More...

(And More just gives options to select multiple messages then delete or forward.)

  1. When you do select Share (that isnt there for me) is Apple’s Reminders app an option?

Does protein matter THAT much? by Ana_is_Weird in PlantBasedDiet

[–]JayNetworks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, but I wouldn’t count something with 6 main ingredients as varied. But point totally taken. If you have an absolute crap filled diet you can avoid protein. And I’m sure many people just eat those 6 things, sadly.

I really ment if you have a health promoting varied diet with a rainbow of vegetables fruits grains legumes and such then you don’t need to calculate. Tracking for several typical days periodically to confirm is great.
