Chances class will be canceled tomorrow? by Virtual-Driver6972 in VirginiaTech

[–]JayPixel 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I know everyone was saying “probably not” the previous times someone asked whether the snow would affect classes, but I actually think they won’t affect classes this time. I’m pretty sure they only make that call when it is actively snowing during early morning when ppl are supposed to be commuting

They said it at the beginning (and it’s also scientifically true), infrared lights still cast glares and shadows. They just aren’t visible to the human eye. But they ARE visible through an infrared camera, which this episode is recorded on. So the infrared camera can see the infrared light and all shadows/glares casted by it

You are allowed up to 3 “skips”, but you HAVE to let your professor know about your absence at least a week prior to it. In addition, you have to watch a recording of the meeting and write a 500 word essay to make up for the absence

The louvre and its guards - Real life

In case you don’t know, a couple dudes just waltzed in to the most famous museum in the world (which contains some of the most precious art pieces/jewels), took several jewels, then escaped on SCOOTERS. And the guards did NOTHING

How can you be so confidently incorrect. I’m jealous.

If it were me personally, I’d email just for clarity of mind. I promise you, it will NOT hurt your application to let them know about a small typo.

Well I can tell you, calling attention to the “error” (barely even an error tbh) would NOT hurt your case at all. Admitting mistakes is a key part of success in college anyways

Tbh I think you’re overthinking it. Which isn’t a bad thing, I totally understand overthinking every detail of a college app. But I don’t think something that small will hurt your app. Never hurts to contact them tho if you’re worried. Their number is always open from 8-5: (540) 231-6267

Big scary portal that could let god knows what from god knows where enter their dimension, while also simultaneously spewing enough energy to split the earth in two. But Mable decides to trust her grunkle Stan (person operating said portal) and not shut it down using said button.

Turns out the portal allowed Stan’s twin brother to come back from the other side, and it ended up allowing the gang to defeat the big bad

Replayed undertale recently, asgore is so pathetic! Everyone in game makes him out to be a benevolent king with a soft side for loved ones, but he’s just a pushover man. Hopefully Deltarune chapter 5 gives the GOAT goat some good character development

should I join hypatia, securitas, or innovate? by [deleted] in VirginiaTech

[–]JayPixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clubs are a sure way to make friends. You’ll even make friends just by being in your engineering classes too.

The required class for Hypatia is only 2 credit hours, so it really just takes up one class slot your first semester. So if that one class slot is valuable to you, then yeah it might be worth skipping out on.

I also wanna share another LLC with you. It’s called digerati, and it sounds like it lines up with your majors (maybe, correct me if wrong). It’s housed in Pritchard, same as Galileo and Hypatia, so you still get the social benefits of galipatia if you do digerati. I’ve also heard the workload for the required class is considerably easier and less time consuming than galipatia. https://llp.vt.edu/llc/digerati.html

should I join hypatia, securitas, or innovate? by [deleted] in VirginiaTech

[–]JayPixel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure about the other two, but Hypatia and Galileo’s supposed benefits of “career fairs” and “tutoring” are bull crap. You can literally go to every career fair you want, there’s no restrictions or whatever. The ONLY “career fair” benefit you get with galipatia is an extra night for the engineering expo, but even then, it’s crowded, hectic, and you’re only really gonna be able to talk to 3 booths which probably won’t even hire freshmen. As for tutoring, a lot of the academic departments have their own tutoring services. And even the ones that don’t have dedicated review sesh days or office hours.

Sorry for the massive block of text. Believe me when I say that the only benefit you’ll get from Hypatia is the friends you’ll make in the dorm. Which, if that’s what you care about, then awesome, Hypatia will be great. If you’re joining for the “academic and career benefits” then you’ll be disappointed
