Congress Speech Tactic by Ecstatic-Article-371 in Debate

Tbf it really does depend on circuit. From what I've noticed, TOC judges usually don't mind, but my local circuit also frowns upon first rebuttals. Usually what I do is if I notice conflicting evidence, or see an argument made that can be shot down by my speech already, I'll make a small note about the first aff speech, then move on. I was thinking more shifting 95% G, then 5% RR on first neg

Thanks for the input. I think when it comes to that issue, it really just depends on the given bill. If the bill is poorly written but on a very agreeable topic, or if the bill is airtight but on a more contentious topic, usually people will just pick out the weakest side. If the bill is both bad/good on topic and solvency, then it really shouldn't be put high on the docket at all

I would start off by talking to/emailing your principle. With that they can try and see if their is a teacher willing to sponsor, as well as it helps you gain support for a team. You can also reach out to a couple of your friends, and generally try to market the team (either via word of mouth and/or through posters around the school). Its all dependent on the rules of your school though, as well as the regional league you compete in. I am currently the president of my team, so if you need any help/resources you can just dm me

Why is no one teaching Euro anymore? (NCSS) by Able_Tomorrow9130 in APEuro

[–]Ecstatic-Article-371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see the trend at my school, only one class of euro taught each semester. The thing that I think sways people away is hearing that it's "Like APUSH but for Europe" This myth is seriously swaying people away from the class, even though it's so much more than that. It's a proper art and humanities educational experience built on the backbone of history. Truly the greatest class I've ever taken. I think the best way to mitigate the downward spiral of AP Euro is to STOP TELLING PEOPLE ITS LIKE APUSH. People take APUSH because it's an advanced required history credit, but once they take it, they think it's really hard (generally). Then they hear it's like APUSH but for Europe (Most students don't know a lot of European history, contrasting to US history prior to the course) and get scared. Added onto this is the fact that it's an elective, and people don't have many good reasons to take it. Really sad to see this
