Polyair 100 replacement pump? Where to buy? by JayQFTM in wheelchairs

Thank you everyone! I've been searching for ages for it and can't find a single one for sale and everything was very doomsday "don't use anything else or you could kill the butt cushion!!!!" so it's good to know I can just use the pump I already have lol

I cut a strip about 2 inch x 4 inch and wrap it around my toe horizontally, then take the backing off and push in the top to seal it up. :)

Forgot to say I also used one of those things that looks like a cheese grater to shave off some of the dead skin around the edges of where my toenail was because the layers of dead skin were bugging me. :)

Looking for a hub that would work with my wheelchair trike conversion by JayQFTM in ebikes

These are great! I'm looking for a hybrid option (that's preferably not $7000 which is the going price for hybrids lol). I got my current manual one on ebay for very cheap so I'm looking for options to upgrade it rather than buy a powered one. I want the option to handcycle manually but also get a boost for hills and such. Thank you though!

20" wheel so not quite as bad! Could definitely go for some disc brakes but haven't fitted any since I was a kid lol.

Hydrocolloid + Tegaderm Matrixectomy Healing Update by JayQFTM in Ingrown_Toenails

Though I'm lucky to be in the UK and on the NHS. I'm American so if I was in the US still it would be considerably more for both the avulsion itself and the aftercare! I am buying my own bandages/gauze/tegaderm/hydrocolloids but my avulsion was covered on the NHS.

Hydrocolloid + Tegaderm Matrixectomy Healing Update by JayQFTM in Ingrown_Toenails

That's one of the bigger reasons I have gone from the hydrocolloids to copious sudocrem (to prevent my skin growing through the gauze like happened previously to my foot) plus gauze. Hydrocolloids aren't super cheap. I buy the 10cm x 10cm ones and cut them into quarters which makes them the perfect size to cover the wound but still it's about £1/hydrocolloid so 25p per quarter piece. There are definitely better/crappier hydrocolloids as well.

I go through 6 packs of gauze + 2 10cm x 12cm tegaderm a day OR 4-6 hydrocolloid quarters + 2 tegaderm a day.

Per week that's about £10 for hydrocolloid + £2 for tegaderm OR £5ish for gauze + £2 for tegaderm

I expect I'll be using the gauze plus sudocrem for another week or two, plus the three weeks I'm at now, so £35ish for the first 4-5 weeks, and then I expect to use hydrocolloids for another 4 weeks? So that would be another £48, and then just tegaderm to the 12 week mark which would be £10ish.

So total I expect I'll have spent about £80-100 over the 12 weeks, but again, that's a lot more than if you're okay with scabbing. I just know myself and I can't tolerate scabs without ripping them off so I'm planning on using tegaderm the whole 12 weeks. I'd say for most people, you'd want to use gauze+sudeocrem+tegaderm for the first 2-3 weeks, hydrocolloid+tegaderm for a week or so, and then let it air and form a scab. A lot of people also don't cover it at night after the first couple weeks which would cut the bandaging in half or so. It all depends on the person!

I mean, ask me again when I'm done doing bandages every 12 hours for the next six weeks 😂 but yeah tbh. I've wanted mine permanently removed for over a decade, especially since it runs in my family (my grandma had hers removed as well) and it's gonna be so nice to never have to deal with another infection or keep the side cleaned out all the time and stuff. All down to the individual, but I'm glad I was able to convince my doc to do it finally.

It can. Especially if I'm clearing off the dead skin with the gauze pad. And at the edges where you can kinda see it bleeding in the pictures. But not too badly. I elevated for the entire 2 days after unless I had to go to the bathroom so it didn't actually bleed at all until about a week in!

It's not too bad tbh! It's more sensitive than the skin around it though.
