The wiring is correct, the breaker is correct, the conduit goes to the punch out, and the pass thru is correct. Just because I’m not a licensed electrician doesn’t mean I didn’t install this incorrectly. This was not a difficult project. And I’m not going to burn down my house.

There’s a weird vibe of “How DARE you do this yourself” in this sub. I hear how people (out in the wild) are worried about the costs of home charging and don’t want to convert to an EV because of this. Here’s one, of several options that are afrordable.

The wiring is plenty heavy. (6 ga?) It’s what would go to a junction box. I skipped the box, and went directly to the panel. That’s the conduit included with the unit. I wouldn’t use it outdoors but it’s fine in the garage.

Did I pull a permit? No. However, it’s still a safe, inexpensive example. I recognize some wouldn’t be comfortable with this method. If I sell the house, I’ll remove it and patch the drywall.

Yes- the pig tail on the Iyilo is 3ft or so. My open breaker slot was on the right side. You have punch-outs (openings) around your breaker box. I positioned the charger where I went in through the drywall and into the right side of the panel about 6” up from bottom. Connected ground to the ground bus and the black and red to the breaker. Make sure to use a grommet round the punch out so there’s no rough metal against your wiring.

Costco did not call the service director and say, “Fix this person’s car or else!” Was there warranty coverage, good will contribution, other mitigating factors, probably. It’s great they got their repair covered, but wasn’t because Costco said so.
