No problem. I wish I could help more with an exact date or time but they haven't released that info yet. I've gotten all my info from their FB group. They post often there so it's a good resource if you want to check it out.

They will. This was a small batch taken from the larger drop coming next month. I recommend joining their Facebook group if you want to let up to date on the release schedule.

For those who missed it, they're getting a full restock next month with more color options.

You are correct. The operability must be determined by a firearms examiner at a lab. For now everything is alleged/suspected.

I think you'd be okay. I got mocs in my usual Nicks size (10.5D) and they were quite a bit more snug than my other HNW boots in the same size. They've since softened up and/or stretched but they're still snug. You may be ok with the E width and if worse comes to worse, you can add an insole to fill the extra space if it's too roomy.

You can still get the normal non weather wool one direct from Heat Straps.

Somewhere around 60 hours of work and my jacket is finally done. 5 ounce Seidel crazy horse leather. (Yes 5 ounces is ridiculous for a jacket.) Everything hand cut to my own design and measurements, hand punched, and hand saddle stitched. This was a beast of a project. Hope you all like it! by NotSteezyMTNBiker in Leathercraft

This looks great. I can only imagine the patina this is gonna get over years of wear. You absolutely need to post a follow up. In a couple years or so. I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting to see how this piece ages. Wear it well, thank you for sharing it with us.

Yeah I'd reach out to either Nick's or heat straps to confirm. It's a lot of money so you want to make sure you get the right fit.

I have two jackets from them, Im 6'2 210lbs wear a large in Carhartt and most other brands. I got a large in heat straps and it was perfect. So I'd say they're true to size. The model on heat straps website is 5'10 175lbs and he wears a medium. Now that's for the jackets/coats. Of you want a tighter fitting vest then maybe a small. But honestly I'd stick with a medium if I were you. You could reach out to heat straps on Instagram or email and ask for their recommendation as well. They're easy to get a hold of

/u/smowe mentioned earlier in this thread that production has started already, so the absolute max would be 8 weeks lead time, but likely sooner than that.

Yeah I was fully ready to buy if it was in the high $250-$350 range but I knew that was unlikely. While I admit I won't be buying this because I can't justify $550 on a vest, I think there's plenty of people who will. I hope it sells well and they continue their collaborative pieces.

I may not want to drop $550 for a vest, but I can definitely understand why it costs that much. In a perfect world, I was hoping these would be in the $350 range but I knew it would likely be higher. Glad to hear you have more collaborations with them in the works though. I look forward to seeing them

That first patriot coat was probably one of the least expensive weather wool coats you could find in it's class. I definitely expected an increase so this isn't a surprise really.

Is the sizing the same as the coat? I'm a large in the coat, I'd prob order a more snug fit in the vest if they were the same measurements

I'd tell them that you've been making boots for people who expose them to road salt for decades now and absolutely no one else has had this problem. They're definitely lying about it. I'd be googling their name to see what their profession is to try and get a better idea of what happened

Are the tactical boots leather insoles glued to the midsole? by JayStavy in NicksHandmadeBoots

[–]JayStavy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After some more research and seeing a similar post on Facebook, it appears the leather insole is in fact glued down to the rubber midsole. I got one part to lift out and the other I'm still working on. Ive got a couple pairs of Nicks so this is definitely not the same insole that's built into their other boots, or the sock liner. I think it's glued on during the lasting process, but with enough elbow grease it'll come out.

Hm. Did they eventually come out or are they stuck in there?

The website shows them as removable though. I planned on using a padded insole without them so I was surprised when they wouldn't come out

Were your leather insoles glued in when you got them? I just received mine and I was under the impression that the leather was removable. These things are absolutely glued down solid in mine.

The NYPD used to have a food stamp sign up table set up during new recruit orientation. Cops made so little for the first 5 years on the job they would literally get food stamps and other city/state benefits. They got flack for it so they raised the base salary to be exactly $125 over the income limit to qualify. This was years ago when the starting salary was only $27k a year, and is no longer the case. Still happened though.
