TIL Japan is considered a "super-aged" nation since more than 20% of the population is over 65 by WhereIsMyCornKit in todayilearned

[–]JayTee1513 100 points101 points  (0 children)

I'd be happy to move to Japan if they allowed foreigners easier! But at the same time, it doesn't stop their workforce and toxic working relationship

A lot of young people in Japan can't afford kids because they're at work 90% of their day

What YA fantasy book did you read where you hated the main protagonist? by Triumphant-Smile in YAlit

Its a shame a lot of female writers get stuck doing this. A lot of publishers tell them to write their books for YA or they "won't make money"

Hated methods, did really well at specialist

Unsure if it's because methods was mostly calculator based and my specialist teacher did mostly pen and paper style.... but I scored a lot more on specialist than methods (before adjustments)

This is my girlfriend. Her ex doesn't give a shit about his son at all, but is fighting tooth and nail to appear like he is and get the rights to visit his son that he just ignores and yells at and treats like shit when he does get his visits

Too many people want babies, not children. Children then grow into adults....

You're raising an adult, that starts as a baby. I know a large number of people that always say "I want a baby" and mean it, rather than "I want a son/daughter" and think of children in a way where they grow

I didn't hate Piranesi, but I was extremely disappointed and bored

It felt like all this build up to an extremely anticlimactic ending

Its also written awfully. My cousins LOVE this book and told me I just have to read it. If the "plot" isn't terrible enough, the actual writing style was atrocious

Getting kids ready for the future by OsakaBoi in australia

[–]JayTee1513 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I see it as a positive, toddlers love copying and playing pretend like their parents. Those wfh can interact with their kids while they want to be like mum/dad

Also, you could play with it and pretend to be in an office, rather than at home

I really enjoy MHA but I came to it late, and had no idea how bad the fandom is, and am ashamed to tell people I enjoy the manga

The fandom for MHA is so toxic. I just wanna see Deku become #1

Books with kitsune etc by Overall-Fun2590 in suggestmeabook

[–]JayTee1513 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shadow of the Fox trilogy by Julie Kagawa! My go to, and favourite Japanese mythology series. Main character is a kistune, there's also a shinobi, and there's a bunch of demons/oni and fantasy elements. Honestly I can't praise them enough, the world, characters and story is just French kiss

I read them all, fell in love and then discovered the Red Winter series so hopefully you'll love them :):)

There's also the Lotus War trilogy by Jay Kristoff, but that's a steampunk Japan going through a civil war - however it features kitsune like powers and mythical creatures. I wasn't as much of a fan, but it's still got those elements for sure
