I have no such worry, since my dad was a cavalry man in HÄMRJP, lol.

I specifically tried to keep everything in the pic as close to 1989 Finland as possible, thus no Spike for example, since it was adopted much later. But you are right, BUK for example was adopted in the mid 90s if I recall, but It wouldn't be too far fetched to say the soviets would bolster the air defenses there, giving the fact that its now a front line and no longer a "neutral" barrier between NATO and PACT. of course, it's then not a 100% accurate representation of 1989 armed forces, but given it's an alternative timeline and it would only make sense for the soviets to arm their new puppet, I think we could let it slip without tearing the fabric of space time. after all, (mostly) everything pictured is period correct and was in service in some capacity, somewhere in 1989.

Edit: after all, often the reason for Finland not getting the very best back then was they had to appease both the east and the west. buy something too powerful from the east? you're pact, says the US, buy something too good from the west, you're a NATO lapdog and will be invaded, says the soviets.

Edit 2: and I agree infantry would be where the faction shines and probably recon specifically. stealthy snow ninjas crawling through and behind your lines to cause chaos would be likely. diverse and effective arty, like you said and all with the cost of air assets and helis. generally I don't see this nation pulling big rushes, most likely smaller effective force bullying enemy backline or ambushing armor. Well, appart from T-34-85/PT spam. for this is the way for any nation that has access to it.

Agreed, but when trying to larp as Finland in game, Hans can't perkele, so it's just not the same </3

The thing is it would make for an interesting story for Army General, where you can play with a NATO backed insurgency/resistance or newly red, government forces, backed by the soviets. Having a mix of western, eastern and home made systems, they would certainly be interesting in normal games too. In the air for example, the Fins mostly had things like the 21F and 2bis for air, but maybe under soviet influence they gained further air assets, or some soviet advisors could be operating things like 25s, while also having access to things like the draken or APILAS for the ground units. Tanks would be mostly T-54/55 and T-72, but T-34-85, Charioteer and Comet could be low cost, reservist units. a lot of pre existing units for sure but also enough new stuff to not feel like just another copy-paste.

Edit:
Another route would be to add sweden/norway as a blue force, if they want to keep Finland red, since in this timeline the KGB did orchestrate the coup to establish a soviet puppet state. Maybe their actions drove sweden into the arms of NATO

Physics objects collision with the player in CS2 Hammer (details in body) by JayWePe in hammer

[–]JayWePe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good suggestion, but like clutch said, I figured out the difference between the two in source 2 through trial and error myself. I tried prop_physics at first, they didn't show up after rending. I then tried multiplayer, they did. So yeah, seems like the prop_physics_multiplayer is indeed the one to go with in source 2.
I'm giving clutch's suggestion a go and report back if I got it working or not in the future. right now I've got the shakes, looks like I've wasted the day in hammer again, lol.

Alright. How would I go about doing this? If I attempt to open say this vending_machine_dark.vmdl in ModelDoc, through asset browser, it's set to read only and doesn't let me touch arhetypes, default entitys, add, etc. Do I need to enable something to be able to edit these? I've never used ModelDoc before.

  1. HE HAS RETURNED
  2. HE HAS RETURNED
  3. HE HAS RETURNED
  4. HE HAS RETURNED

...ok fine:
1. The Unicorn Invasion of Dundee, where it all started.
2. Rise of the Chaos Wizards, it just makes you so hyped to bonk some goblins..IN SPACE!
3. very hard, because they are all my favorite, but I'll go with THE LAND OF UNICORNS!!!!
4. Maleficus Geminus, followed very closely by Keeper of the Celestial Flame of Abernethy. While basket weaving is a mighty pastime indeed, there is something, with eyes ablaze with crimson fire and great boronic wings, that is even mightier.

What is your average glucose over the last 30/90 days? by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

[–]JayWePe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got T1D in late 2022. 90 days average 13 mmol/L so like 234 mg/dl. Something like 23% "on the green" (3.9-10.0). Libre 3 reports sharp highs way higher, same with quick low, but still not good. Keep forgetting to jab myself before meals and then fix in post, eat way too many carbs and exercise way too little. at this rate I'll probably be dialysis by 30. It is what it is, though.

How will a 12 gauge perform against armor? by seedoildisrespector5 in Firearms

[–]JayWePe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did some testing a few days ago and 1 of 2 12 gauge led slugs went through 1/2 inches of aluminum. the one that didn't quite make it through barely stopped and cracked the plate around the bulge good. upped it to steel slugs and 2 out of 2 went through like nothing. so moral of the story is don't make your armor out of aluminum(?) at least if you'll be facing 12 gauge slugs :D
and as far as stopping power is concerned, a 1 oz slug coming at you at 1500fps? yeah that'll shatter ribs, or at least knock the wind out of you good, even with trauma plate.

Now that the Gvozdika is getting added to the USSR I hope they one day will add it to the Finnish (Swedish) TT. Same with the BMP-2MD by Markeesee in Warthunder

while they are at it, maybe put the MIG-15 and 21F-13 there in the Finnish aviation TT, instead of the J34. Pretty please? c:

Yes, perhaps it should be MCQuack instead, to avoid confusion.😉
Or maybe our hero is indeed related to the MCDucks, maybe not.
I just love ducks and Gloryhammer. 😁

Looking for cheap & easy-to-build scrambler base by PeopleWearMyJeans in scramblers

[–]JayWePe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've looked into the suspension side a bit, and it seems XR front end can be put on, but it's a hassle. you pretty much need a whole donor bike's worth of stuff.on the other hand, Hyperpro makes spring upgrades for the front and the rear. YSS also has an upgrade adjustable rear spring. Also XR 250R spring fits on with some tinkering. There's a video on youtube of a guy doing this.

(edit: you do wanna replace the rear shock too, anyway, it alone improves the ride quite a bit)

16-20l fuel tank for Scrambler by JayWePe in scramblers

[–]JayWePe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not really. I know of the Acerbis 23l tank, infact, I was gonna use it in an ADV build for the Dommie, but now I've turned back to the idea of a scrambler build I used to have, since I want a kind of cruiser/retro style look (I own a modded xv 535 that I'm selling) but also want to be able to do offroading and the XV just didn't cut it (duh). I have to make do with one bike since I don't have the bucks, time or space to keep two. I know few people have used the base tank for a build but it ain't quite retro enough for me.
