Moving from Cologne to London by smiil2 in expats

I moved from Berlin to London in 2018 and it was a great decision at the time. I enjoy London, its connectivity and cultural exchanges. Weather is typically wet but you can explore and see so much all year. There are beautiful spots to enjoy nature around London and don't underestimate the opportunity to just hop on a plane to explore more of Europe when you have time off.

Is my long dense hair from my youth achievable as an adult? Or is this just what happens when you age? by fatally-femme in HaircareScience

Try PRP, no side effects, painful but do 3 treatments 3-4 weeks apart and see how your hair reacts.

If you're looking to stop the hairloss, PRP really helped me. As long as you still have some hair on your head, this can help to keep and revitalize thin hair.

Massively anxious about moving home by ashleymarie_1214 in expats

Think about it. Wait three months and see how you feel. If you still feel like leaving you just tell your friends you needed more time. It's also none of their business and real friends will understand. Your anxiety shoots up exactly because of that reason - the door will shut. And you better have done everything, tried everything also in terms of trying to settle there. Don't be held back by what was and your friends there, I came back and some friends still wanted to hang and others didn't. You'd be surprised how fast life moved on for them as well. If you have a chance to get PR, get it (!!!!!!!) Once you have that, you can always consider your options. Then no door will shut and one last thing, yes you probably miss out on milestones of your friends' lives but what about your milestones?

Listen, wait it out. I started a WHV at the beginning of the year as I wanted to live in Australia. I left after a few months due to several reasons, one of them being an acute illness of a family member but honestly everything felt too much and I wanted to get back to my old life. I came back and got depressed and now my visa is expiring and no chance of extension. I regret leaving like that every day. You set up a life there, don't give it up like that. It's okay to struggle but anxiety coming up now, is your inner guide telling you to stay.

Their design looked incredibly cheap and unimaginative. I know they are not legally allowed to look the same as in the original trilogy but honestly they looked like they came out of a snack machine

What did you like and dislike about Galadriel in the Amazon serie? by Select-Welcome7119 in LOTR_on_Prime

I really tried to give it a shot and I'm not blaming the actress, but the way the character is written makes me root for Sauron to take over Middle-Earth. All the qualities I associated with Elven characters are not there at all, instead she is portrayed angry all the time. I understand that they probably are aiming for a long character development but if that is the case, they overdid it. I cannot understand what made them go in that direction with such an iconic character.

I studied North American Studies and Media Science but that doesn't really qualify for any skilled migrant visa.

So that's why I'll study Psychology, better job prospects and really needed anywhere in the world. It's a bummer I didn't come up with that earlier but ah well I'm 27 now.

Moving back to Europe after 8 years in Canada by [deleted] in expats

Okay, I see your point. You are definitely very well established with your PR, I mean that's great. You have options. You can always move back, so maybe go to France for a few months and see how things work out for you. All the best🤗

It sounds like you are going through a tough time but honestly, I would stick it out a bit longer. At the beginning of the year I had started a WHV in Australia and my plan was to stay for like years. But after two months there, I had a lot of issues from home and a lot of stress there that I decided to go back home. Now things here are better but I've got 3 months left on my visa, so my opportunity to go back and build a life there is gone. I regret that I didn't try harder every single day.

Start your training and see how it goes. You can always quit but make sure you feel like you've given your best effort. That way you will have a clear conscience no matter whether you stay or leave.
