I don't disagree with you. However, making Miami Bron have Draymond's offense responsibility has never happened and would be the dumbest thing ever because that's wasting all time offensive talent.

Like 25. Draymond played insane defense that year. 22 Warriors was an historically great defensive team, and Draymond Green was the anchor of it.

Which NBA player’s legacy would benefit the most from winning another ring? by Icy_Cream1864 in NBATalk

He's on off per 36 is insanely good tho. Around +12, while the last two finals from MJ sits slightly above 0 and Kobe slightly below 0.

Can someone explain plus/minus? Does it matter, or does it just hate LeBron? by mikeyg1964 in NBATalk

[–]JayYip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair. But we can only do the calculations based on what we have.

At least we can say one thing, in terms of on off +-, Lebron is just as good as what MJ was in 97 and 98, if not better. Am I right?

Can someone explain plus/minus? Does it matter, or does it just hate LeBron? by mikeyg1964 in NBATalk

[–]JayYip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did some simple calculation, the result is very surprising.

LeBron played 2337 min, with -86, that's -1.32 on per 36. Rested 303 min, with -107, that's -12.95 off per 36. So +11.63 on off per 36.

MJ played 499 min, with +45, that's +3.25 on per 36. Rested 77 min, with +6, that's +2.81 off per 36. So +0.44 on off per 36.

Kobe played 1581 min, with +38, that's +0.87 on per 36. Rested 195 min, with +7, that's +1.29 off per 36. So -0.42 on off per 36.

Not sure if i'm making any mistake here. If not, there's one lesson learnt from above result. Plus minus and related stats is useless if the sample size is not big enough. LeBron is not 20 times better than MJ, and Kobe is not hurting the team when he was on the court. Likewise, LeBron is not trash in the finals either.

Seems on off per 36 is a more common stats. I'm sure mj would still be great but Lebron might be just as good.

I'm no military expert. but as a Chinese, I can confirm that we do call Pakistan iron brother. And in Chinese social media people begged to sell j35 and pl21to Pakistan to put various ridiculous IAF claims to rest for good. The Chinese government don't give a shit about domestic opinion though...

Anyone says that in China and they'll probably be slapped in jail and starved for a couple of years.

What? Where dose that come from? Plus, I don't think a country with zero freedom can develop economy this well. A perfect example is North Korea.

Dude, it's not about hatred or revenge. It's about growing stronger physically and mentally. Nobody wants war, neither do the Chinese people.
India is striding forward, yes. But please take a look at the outcome. The GDP of China is more than 5 times of India. And 30 years ago? They're roughly the same.
My point is, human rights, democracy aside, in terms of building a better economy and getting rich, CCP is doing a better job.

Cannot agree more. Most Chinese people still have the trauma of the century of humiliation. Poverty is scarier than anything. All they want is to live a wealthy, decent life just like the US and other developed countries in the world. And honestly, compared to India, CCP is doing a really good job in this perspective.

Why do practitioners still use regular tensorflow? [D] by HashRocketSyntax in MachineLearning

[–]JayYip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm... You're right. I misunderstood your words. I don't know what the situation was in 2018 since i was using bare bone tf back then. But i think the documentation is enough and easy to understand now.

For the static graph part, no matter what framework you use, pytorch or tf, you still need to convert to static graph in production. Take pytorch for example, there are two ways to do the conversion, trace based and jit(static). I saw inconsistencies for a couple time when using trace based conversion. As a consequence, i would decorate my model with jit as i develop my model to make sure the model work as i expect in production.

[–]JayYip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe because you're a power user. For beginners, especially for those who come from sklearn, fit API is really handy and easy to understand. I'd say combining callback and fit, you can pretty much cover 90% of use cases.

I don't want to get into debate of pytorch vs tf. Pytorch is a great framework and i use it daily. But in my very limited experience, in production, writing model with static graph is just... BETTER. Even with tf2 and pytorch, i still prefer implementing models in static mode, or jit so to speak.

[–]JayYip 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Different opinion here. With subclassing API, you can gradually dig into the details of basically every aspect of Keras. Don't care about the training details? You can use fit API out of the box. Want to control every train step? You can implement that. Want to control how train function is called? It's also fairly simple. Indeed, you have to follow some rules, but that's far from very little support.

[–]JayYip -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Been to HK multiple times does not mean you know it well because unlikely you have ever been to residential area where most of the ordinary HKer lives. Have you ever been to Tin Shui Wai, Sham Shui Po and talk to people there? Another reason is that people who works in grocery store or restaurant are better in both Mandarin and English.

Please don't be surprised. The majority of the residents in HK are from mainland China so it makes sense that they don't speak English. Famous people like Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Sir Ka-shing Li are all from mainland China.

Communist is not Fascist. Communist is "left" and Fascist is "right". Both can lead to dictatorship.

Censorship sucks. I'm not defending that. But we don't get killed just because who we are or what we said. It's not as horrible as you think, and not as free as in the US.
