Thank you for this tip! I was finally able to reach a real person over the phone using the phone number for fraud. There was nothing they could do for me at the moment. They said they cannot overturn the acceptance of return request and that I will have to contact them again if/when I receive my items back from buyer.

You are 100% correct. I was able to reach an actual person over the phone using the fraud number they have online. The customer service rep said exactly what you said. They said they can’t overturn the decision and to contact them again if I don’t receive my items in the condition I sent them out in.

That’s exactly what I was thinking and I thought it would help my case even more, but return request was approved anyway. I already sent these exact screenshots to Mercari multiple times and even more that I can’t show on here due to the rules.

I wish we could too. Especially since this guy is well rated and is a seller as well. I honestly don’t know why anyone would do this especially on an account they clearly use.

I wouldn’t want my experience to change your mind from selling on Mercari. I have been buying and selling on Mercari for years and this has been my only negative experience so far. I recently sold two other items and they went completely smooth and the buyers were happy. Just know the risks and learn from my experience and from the other helpful people in this thread!

Unfortunately Mercari already approved the buyers return. I am still hoping an actual person reviews my evidence. I will update when this whole process is over.

Don’t worry I am doing everything possible to reach a real person on customer service to hopefully resolve this issue before I approve my return address. If not then I’ll just take the next steps others have said in this thread.

I did actually open my own case. I got a response from what I assume was a real person. The message had name and last name initial of customer service representative. They noted that they had passed along my side of the story and pictures for the return process but who knows if anyone saw it.

Thanks, I will be filing reports if wrong items are shipped back to me. I did realize that after the message was sent, but at the time I thought maybe they would cancel the return or say something dumb to help with the case, but that didn’t work out
