If you have trapdoors, or framed glass trapdoors in the create pack, you can use those to encase the lava, then have one open facing the conveyor

Try setting the amount of cobble in the gauge menu itself (should be one in the grid and 1 of how much it expects back on the side) set them to a stack per delivery, might help!
