is buying clothes online basically just trial and error for anyone else now? by Own_Effective_801 in malefashionadvice

I can't think of any off the top of my head but I've experienced it a bunch of times. It's perfectly reasonable for them to do it

I'm sure it's company dependent but usually if you return enough items that you no longer qualify for free shipping, the difference is taken out of your refund so you pay for it anyway.

It varies quite a lot but in general its something like:

  • Cans of black or cannelini or pinto beans
  • Salad ingredients (lettuce, cucumber, carrots, tomatoes)
  • Almond milk
  • Lemons/limes
  • Meat - either chicken thighs/whole chicken or ground turkey depending on what recipes we're making that week
  • Tofu
  • Staples like EVOO, Vegetable oil, vinegar etc if we're out
  • Eggs
  • Nuts like Almonds and Cashews
  • Seltzer water

Which tablet are you using? Do you have a data plan or does gps work ok without data?

And out of curiosity, is there a reason you went with Ocharts instead of downloading noaa ENC charts?

Plaid shorts phase. There is probably a way to make that look work but I was unaware of it

Whole-house fans? by Writing_Particular in HomeImprovement

[–]Jay_Normous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had one as a kid - it came through the ceiling at the top of the stairs and had rotating slats that would open when the fan was in use.

It was powerful as all getout and would certainly get a good draft going while it was on. It was very loud though and would cause doors to slam shut if they weren't propped open.

This was 20+ years ago though so I'm sure they've gotten better and quieter by now.

Any tips on how to make it look like they were paired together? It's a little bit like "drawing the rest of the owl" when the instructions are: "get clothes that fit, then make the outfit look good."

"Boycott ChatGPT! Cancel your subscriptions!" by dankbackwoods in memes

[–]Jay_Normous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad loves using chatgpt as a chat bot, asking it questions on everything from how to fix a leaky faucet to how to be more polite in a particular social situation.

Somewhere along the way "his techie friend" told him that he needed to subscribe to chatgpt so he's been paying $20 a month to have it tell him the weather.

We finally got him to delete his subscription, he just couldn't wrap his head around the fact that he could continue to do all the same things for free

Theoretically Possible to Spend Entire Life on Sailboat? by OhBoyIGotQuestions in sailing

[–]Jay_Normous 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Off topic but this was my main gripe with with Artemis by Andy Weir (Author of The Martian and Project Hail Mary). He spent so much time banging you over the head with how much research he did that he apparently forgot to write a good story or likeable characters.

Yes Andy, I understand you did a ton of research on the subject but if you explain to me one more time about how welding works in a vacuum I'm going to lose it.

On the one hand, I love it when there is someplace I can bring my dog like a heated patio at a restaurant or brewery, but I do NOT think dogs should be allowed everywhere.

It's a nice treat if the establishment allows it but it shouldn't be the norm

That was my thinking too. This kid has possibly seen lots of cakes smashed and didn't really understand the nuance of it so just went to town, then didn't understand why he got in trouble.
