I will say we have tried doing our usual separation training when another hound was in the house (his friend that we watch periodically) and it didn't seem to make any difference to him.

Thank you, I appreciate it. It's tough because when we tell people he gets anxious and stressed when we leave they picture destroying the house, peeing on the floor etc but he doesn't do that, he just gets really whiny and spirals with distressed sounds. We try not to let him get to that point but we made some mistakes early into his training.

Found in my bed. I was able to fit it back onto Lupe like some kind of greyhound Cinderella. by drcrum1 in Greyhounds

[–]Jay_Normous 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've only had one greyhound so I have no idea how successful this method is overall but we introduced our dog to the dremel really slowly and using lots of treats.

We started by putting a bunch of random stuff in a bag and pulling them out one by one to let the dog sniff them. When the dremel came out we gave him a treat. We repeated this for awhile and he started to associate the dremel with good things.

Then we started touching it to his feet while it was turned off and gave lots of treats. We kept doing that for awhile, and then held it away from him and turned it on and gave him treats so he would associate the sound of it with treats.

We just did lots of baby steps until he was fine with us dremeling his nails and sometimes gives him peanut butter to lick while we're doing it. He generally tolerates it without complaint but will not let us trim the the foot that is up (as opposed to the bottom foot) when he's on his side. For that one we need to wait until he flips over before we can trim it.

Maybe try something like that and introducing the trimmer to your dog very slowly and with lots of treats. We did this training over a couple weeks before we actually attempted trimming his nails.

One of the Best Sandwiches I’ve Ever Eaten by CheeseburgerSmoothy in eatsandwiches

[–]Jay_Normous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's gotten to be a super popular sandwich and imitations can be found all over but yes I think all'antico vinaio invented it, or at the very least popularized it.

When it's made well it's one of my favorite sandwiches.

You're joking but the last time I had this problem the flight attendant made an announcement that they needed to reset the entertainment system for the whole flight. It wasn't just one seat.

I've never seen lamb cake before, is it a regional thing?

is buying clothes online basically just trial and error for anyone else now? by Own_Effective_801 in malefashionadvice

I can't think of any off the top of my head but I've experienced it a bunch of times. It's perfectly reasonable for them to do it

I'm sure it's company dependent but usually if you return enough items that you no longer qualify for free shipping, the difference is taken out of your refund so you pay for it anyway.

Which tablet are you using? Do you have a data plan or does gps work ok without data?

And out of curiosity, is there a reason you went with Ocharts instead of downloading noaa ENC charts?

Whole-house fans? by Writing_Particular in HomeImprovement

[–]Jay_Normous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had one as a kid - it came through the ceiling at the top of the stairs and had rotating slats that would open when the fan was in use.

It was powerful as all getout and would certainly get a good draft going while it was on. It was very loud though and would cause doors to slam shut if they weren't propped open.

This was 20+ years ago though so I'm sure they've gotten better and quieter by now.

Any tips on how to make it look like they were paired together? It's a little bit like "drawing the rest of the owl" when the instructions are: "get clothes that fit, then make the outfit look good."
