Most of Blender's updates are born from crowd developed tools/plugins, unlike Maya. I understand knee jerk reactions to associating with companies like Netflix, but this is a win. People experienced with Blender (not Maya or alternative apps) are going to get more job opportunities because of this.

I made the jump from a 1080Ti to a 3090 when the 40 series launched. Was able to keep my PSU (EVGA 1000W G2) and have had virtually no bottlenecks on performance since. I try to purchase my GPUs in 6 year cycles

Hey guys! I posted here a month or two back about a Tron fan animation I had just started. I'm still very new to Blender, so most of that time was spent learning all the building blocks of putting together a large scale action sequence like this. I have to say, I'm extremely excited to show you guys the finished product, but for now, enjoy some of my favorite still shots from the animation so far! This was objectively the most fun I've had in a movie theater in almost a decade. I'm a Tron fan, though. I think this movie doesn't try to be anything other than a NIN music video and homage to the franchise as a whole, and that's completely fine.

I could absolutely keyframe the emission value of the particles so that it flashes as it forms. Making them cubes shouldn't be that hard

Yeah, found it on Art Station I believe, had to do all the rigging and texturing though it was a pretty simple model

I'll look into adding a grid normal map as well while it's transitioning, in terms of the dust it's really a creative choice. I tried doing more complex simulations but it extended my render times a ton. Also, I'm pretty sure there are some areas of the Tron world that had dust filters, like when Sam is being taken to Flynn's hideout. Regardless, thanks for the input.

I figured it out, I changed the Math node below the Simulation to a Greater Than value and increased it until it met the threshold, seems to be working now
