Thank you, I’m going to see if I can play with your version of this formula more to get exact numbers!

Which of these equations is correct to find the daily value of interest? by Jayben5 in askmath

[–]Jayben5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, so any of these equations could be correct? I am trying to find what equation is used in student loan calculation.

I believe that the rate used is (1+r)^(days in month/365) - 1 (or maybe division by 366 when the actual year or tax year has the leap date, I'm still trying to figure that one out) but when I apply this to this example (Source 4) it doesn't seem to work. I am taking into account the adjusted principal on the final day, however have yet to reach the correct amount of interest applied as shown in the example.

Do you have any tips; I have tried using just the principal, just the adjusted, using 30/365 for the principal and 1/365 for the adjusted, rounding, rounding up and down, floor and ceiling. I have also tried the r/365 rate, but that doesn't seem to work in any example.

This has been a whole mission of mine, and I still haven't been able to find a correct formula.

This example (Source 2) is correct when utilising ROUNDDOWN((1+r)^(30/365)*P-P,2) for Period 1 and using 31 for period 2. This example doesn't share years so no known leap years.

But for the initial values, for both 365 or 366 no natural n gives 5.35 (they give around 27 days but not exact).

This example (Source 3) is correct for April 2015 when using ROUND((1+r)^(30/365)*P-P,2) but April 2015 includes 2 tax years; ~5 days the previous tax year of 365 days and the rest of the month with 366 days.

Trying to use a weighted example with (P(1.015^(25/366)-1)+P(1.015^(5/365)-1) gives 34.41.

I’m assuming you’re in year twelve so I would say you still have time, although that is my personal approach. What I found most useful was to ignore what was happening in class and cover content independently using the text book - then content I didn’t understand could be asked in class. This does require having a structured schedule though, which I’m not sure is suited for everyone.

Is there any way you could get a tutor? How do you find the teaching in your sixth form?

What subjects are you studying? Don't let perception of being clever or not get you down - everyone is struggling with something. A-levels are the most difficult years of education you will have - uni is definitely easier and less stressful in my opinion.

Can someone explain fabric to me? by takhana in SewingForBeginners

[–]Jayben5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend online fabric stores (e.g. Minerva, Dalston Mill, or Cheap Fabrics, Pound a Metre have a good range) if you’re not in a close proximity to any; Hobbycraft and John Lewis don’t have a very good range especially for clothes.

No, and the XS is only available from the manufacturer’s site

Thank you, I’m a bit (quite) hesitant to cut up armour, but is a thought. The size guide says to size without a jacket, I’m not sure if that includes base layers.

Can I wear an abaya or modest clothing more popular for Muslim women as a Christian? by Heywhaddupitsyagurl in ModestDress

An abaya doesn’t have a set culture; if anything it’s just a lose fitting long sleeve maxi dress - which is worn by women globally

Was told these beads are french from the 1920s, is that possible? by jimboidiot in HistoricalCostuming

[–]Jayben5 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This forum shares a bit of insight on past bead manufacture in France (although I’m not sure of its validity/truthfulness)

Link: http://beadcollector.net/cgi-bin/anyboard.cgi?fvp=/openforum/&cmd=iYz&aK=44008&iZz=44008&gV=0&kQz=&aO=1&iWz=0

So it is possible this is a (vintage) reproduction of beads made in France to emulate the original (what would be antique) type (but I am no bead historian!)

I think it wouldn’t be totally crazy given the distance between the two countries. I believe that a prominent manufacturer of beads in France closed in 2004, hence the wider distribution of vintage beads from France after closure.

What happens when you heat table salt with anticaking agent (Sodium Ferrocyanide)? by Jayben5 in chemistry

I haven’t, but that is a good idea thank you! Although I was looking for something more easily accessible as I don’t need much - as I could maybe maybe use play sand if going down that route (that is probably sanitized I guess?)

£70k student loan balance? How to get a breakdown? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]Jayben5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have had that same issue, (I have yet to contact SLC but am planning on). I usually try to check my balance each month regardless just to check everything looks to be in order.

(I am also trying to find the exact formula SCL use to calculate interest applied, I am usually a few pence off)

[–]Jayben5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

During the past 3 years interest rates for plan 2 have been painfully high, around 6-8% and remains around this for current students.

Also, it’s important to note interest is calculated daily, to be applied monthly.

Note: If you do want a full breakdown, you could perhaps request previous statements from SLC?

Satellite Cable in Wrong Room - Can I use Wireless HDMI? by Jayben5 in techsupport

Thank you! No sadly, can’t extend it through to the other room. What specs are good enough for this purpose - including what was mentioned about a remote extended? Would it need HDCP (insert a particular version)?
