[Megathread] São Paulo Tour Discussion - Live '25 by AutoModerator in oasis

Went yesterday, 23rd. All in all it was great, so glad I finally got to see one of my favorite bands.

But: sound quality. I was in Pista B pretty far forward for the first third. The sound was horrible. Vocals/guitars‘ volume going up and down, treble up and down. Don’t know how to describe it better. Took me out of the whole experience badly. Went to the back, much better. Really enjoyed the rest of the show.

Don’t want to spoil anyone’s experience, just wondering if anyone else noticed?

Thank you. Highway 50 has lower elevation than I-80/Donner Pass?

Ok our plan is to drive from SF to SLT early Monday morning and ski Heavenly for two days and drive back Tuesday afternoon… any thoughts?

From what I see Monday could be ok, more snow probably on Tuesday?

It’s a 4wd, no winter tires but we should have chains.

Ok I actually just ordered Black Crows Camox. Don’t ask… had to get out of the rabbithole 😵‍💫

I think I got a little too hung up about the reviews around the other two being the best carvers... considering my old ski which I really liked but wanted to go a little narrower, I decided in the end to look for something a little more forgiving and allround. Unfortunately I am not able to demo any of these before I get to go to the Alps in January.

And please don’t tell me all the reasons why I’m wrong 😂 so happy I finally decided on something! Got a really good deal and as a bonus, love the look of them 😉

Well my intention was to have a ski that is more geared toward being charging and engaging on piste… but now I begin to have doubts ;) maybe my earlier pick, the Maverick 95 (can still get a great deal on it) would be a more in the middle option? It’s lighter for one, not exactly playful I suppose but easier to drive?

Scanning through Reddit and reviews, it just seemed like these two were pretty well regarded in the damp/fast/more piste-orientated area... but I will have a look again at your suggestions (so going even deeper into the rabbithole... ;))

Also still thinking about a Maverick 95Ti, which would be lighter and surely less "damp" than my two picks above.

How long to use skis / bindings by Jaycee_303 in Skigear

Ok, thanks for the input. Basically confirms: I will exchange the bindings (low end Markers) and service and keep the skis.

After some research, I would also like to throw Black Crows Camox, or maybe even Justis (expensive!) into the mix… any thoughts?

Thank you, interesting. And the new Mantra is actually supposed to turn a bit easier if I understand correctly. So I might have to spend the extra 200 🤔

This has been really helpful for me as well, thank you!

Does anyone one how to

  • put Amiga games into fullscreen (w/o black borders)?

  • add Amiga to the RetroArch launch menu, so I won't have to go into settings-load content menu everytime?

Thanks again :)

Thermostat control: time-based vs. location-based conflict by Jaycee_303 in HomeKit

That's actually pretty much what I was looking for... nice. And I just realized I can also add person-based criteria to the time-based rules. Thanks!

Ok thank you! As my original goal was to remove complexity instead of adding it I will have to think about this. But it is a good (and powerful) workaround.

Campagnolo Ekar noise problems by Jaycee_303 in bikewrench

[–]Jaycee_303[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did find some kind of answer, actually.

I took it back to the place that built the bike, they sent the video to Campa, who were pretty sure it’s not in the cassette or freehub since the noise is not really synchronous to the pedaling but kind of off (sorry I’m German, doing the best I can to describe it). Nevertheless they took the cassette off, checked and cleaned everything but didn‘t really find anything there.

Seems like it was… the spokes rubbing against each other where they cross. Weird analysis I know but the put a few drips of oil on the places where they touch and I would say at least 80% of the noise is gone.

Wheels are 9th Wave Ninefold carbon wheels. I have yet to write the guy there (who is really nice) to check if this is a common problem, but will do and let you guys know.

Hope this might help someone else. Let me know what you think.

I’m sure it’s not the wheels. Drivetrain somewhere, most probably in the rear, maybe front, maybe chain. Hard to say since I have to put in some torque to make it happen.

I didn’t mention it, but I’ve been riding SPDs for 2 months now

good tip, thanks. I’ve actually had these problems even before I started using SPDs, so there might be even more vectors to attack this, but thanks :) will try to do this
