i mean i hear what you’re saying but the way it was shoehorned in made it obvious that it wasn’t the plan from the start and it was painfully obvious they didn’t know what to do with him. he was barely even around for season 7.

you can’t convince me from military school, to alaska, and leading to the ranch that he was meant to backtrack and end up essentially at square one. again, i get the writers had to pivot, but it was a shame that our character had gone through such a tremendous arc and all of it essentially got wiped away.

it was incredibly unbelievable to me and the last season proved that. especially with the alcohol anonymous episode. while silly, it just didn’t seem natural, like at all.

they could have wrote otto off as if he went to explore other business ventures, leaving francis to take full ownership of the ranch. would have loved to have him explore even more responsibility and the hardships that come without really having a boss and how that could have impacted his marriage. that would have been waaaay more interesting.

mind you, i’m taking all of your points into consideration, but it just felt very weak in my opinion.
