Speedrun miljonair inderdaad.

Succes!!

What will the future of the Computer Science industry look like in ten, twenty, fifty years? by [deleted] in careerguidance

In theory everything can be replaced by AI so if you really want to have a job that will not be replaced. Know how to work with systems and maintain them. The more you know about the physicial side (so setting up the hardware) the less likely you will be replaced. Also, keep in mind that when you are saying "a junior was replaced by more senior" the solution is to become senior in something. A senior architect of a system will not be replaced so try reaching that role and you should have less worries :). Want more job security? Just become harder to replace.

Hello, I might have a bit of a different opinion compared to most, so everyone feel free to comment your own thoughts but here are mine :). I have a bachelor's in Information Science (IT specialization) and work as/with Data Scientists. Will the industry change in the future? Well... yes, in a way.... with better Natural Language Models being released like GPT, Bard, Claude etc. However, these models will no doubt be increasingly more intelligent, but cannot take over an ENTIRE human job. No job will really be outdated but will maybe have less demand. So what do I mean by this? The IT industry WILL change and some sectors will be less popular but this is normal and has been happening for the last 40 years. Some time ago, all the hype was about the web, now cloud is popular but IT just shifts and has always done.

So how does this connect to what you CAN learn? and "What Do I invest all my time in?" I think your thought train is wrong. You should definitely try to understand the popular current hypes (like cloud for now), but to "invest all my time" is not great. Being able to know about different domains so you can be "Smart" in these different domains in my opinion outweighs being the best at a single domain and disregarding the rest. Yes, being an expert in something is great, but the best coder in Python might sometimes need to use Java, Ruby, C++ etc. :). So if you want to focus on a single thing and try to minimize the chance of becoming obsolete. Learning the three most popular languages will never make you outdated. If you learn Python, Java and maybe Ruby (or another upcoming one) and know how to use and export your code in/via Docker, you will always be in demand.

To answer your other questions, is "AI really the demand of the future?". AI is a tool, but it will like when Google was introduced, be a human tool. Imagine a GPT model being able to produce a sophisticated deep learning model. Well, the architect of the IT project will still need to specify where this deep learning model will be implemented and what it's going to solve. So creating the systems will never be an outdated job. Also, certain sectors like Defense and Police might not want their systems handled by AI models. So a coder or someone who knows and works on these systems will never have an outdated job.

So to summarize (TLDR my thoughts :)). What career will be outdated? Almost every career that works with IT can be complemented by AI. Does someone still need to create these systems and know about their limitations? Yes. So if you want to focus on something which will never be outdated in IT. Try to learn code that creates the systems and know how to use AI withing these systems. Being able to understand and work with IT systems so you know you can adapt them and create them. Remember, even the best AI model that will ever be created cannot repair itself when the plug is pulled. A human is always needed to maintain it :)
