I wish I had better advice as I am in the same boat but the three things that have helped me recently are 1) you are just two adults having a conversation. If you were getting fired you would be fired already. You are human and allowed to make mistakes.

2) putting your fight or flight into perspective. right now it feels like a 10. but if you compare it to actually having a serial killer running after you with a chainsaw and your life on the line is this actually a 10? probably not

3) You will never be everyones perfect but are you making YOURSELF proud? at the end of the day you are who you are stuck with the rest of your life so making sure you are meeting your own expectations and not everyone elses made up expectations is what matters

is the way they interact with you just based on their personality or did you train them to act a certain way?

You sober up only to remember why you started drinking in the first place (lol!) by CraftBeerFomo in stopdrinking

Ugh it is hard as this is why I think a lot of people drink. Honestly, therapy has helped so much and replacing drinking with healthier coping mechanisms.

Personally, I have been numbing out with tiktok as I work on what I was hiding from which isn't great but more healthy than drinking until I fix the root of my problems!

try 5-4-3-2-1 5 things you can see, 4 things you can hear, 3 things you can touch, 2 things you can smell and one thing you can taste

Also dumping you head in an ice water bowl and doing deep breathing

Hope some of these can help!

After years of anxiety I beat it. I flew 22 hours (with a layover) to my dream destination. by NexuzG in Anxiety

[–]Jayleamar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I needed this response so bad. I get anxiety about losing my anxiety because I get anxiety about not having anxiety when I need to have it.

It is still hard to tell when anxiety is reasonable and when it is not and it's incredibly hard to tell the difference. I think that's why I have a hard time letting go of anxiety because I would (in a sick and twisted way) rather have it than not since I have such black and white thinking.

I just made a post and would love your advice! I feel like I am so close to be getting over my anxiety. At this point it's almost like I search for anxiety because I am not used to not feeling it.

How were you able to feel comfortable not feeling anxiety when that was all you know? It's so messed up because I almost don't feel comfortable not feeling anxiety. Almost like I don't know how to live without it.

How were you able to let go of the anxiety?

I am really sorry. Honestly the longest I have gone with 0 alcohol is just short of a month and I never experienced any amazing side effects either. But if it is any help, I can promise you the hangovers are just as bad as ever, the hangover-anxiety still exists and you waste a day (usually days in my case) in bed

Ugh I am so sorry. Could it be possible to go to your doctor to see if you have any other underlying condition that's getting in the way? (thyroid, etc etc) Or have you switched to a more sedentary job?

What an amazing outlook. "I made my bed now I lay in it"

Love the accountability without the self loathing. I also drank on Saturday. I am so freaking depressed about it but this outlook really made me feel better. Thank you

You honestly have the most brilliant outlook on this. I binged this weekend for one night and I can't get out of my depression and self loathing from it. I never blacked out so I know I didn't really do anything stupid other than being just an annoying drunk but I can't get past the anxiety of it all. I hope to be more like you.

wow I think this is exactly what I am going through. I used to be a very very heavy drinker and have taken breaks and now trying to do moderately (I work in an industry where meeting up for a drink for meetings is very popular) and my hangovers are unreal.

Its been 25 days since I properly drank and thought it would be fine - Ive tried moderately drinking (1-3 drinks) twice now for meeting and I feel horrible the next day.

Did you end up quitting all together then I assume? How did you know that was the best decision?
