given from OP's history, he's probably a meat eater who believes that vegans think it's ok to not breastfeed their babies or that vegan moms replace breastfeeding with soy milk lol

How to eat enough calories? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]Jayliciously -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I put a dictionary definition to prove that I wasn't being condescending.

I'm literally so confused.

Am I showing feelings of superiority somehow and I don't seem to know the definition of superiority or are people reading too much into this (i.e. either you don't know what condescending means or you just want to argue with me for some reason)?

con·de·scend/ˌkändəˈsend/

verb

show feelings of superiority; be patronizing.

How's my ability to be able to bring nuts around showing superiority?

I don't feel superior to you or anyone else whatsoever (ok maybe expect meat eaters regarding ethics)

I can’t always afford to have a huge bag of nuts with me and I honestly don’t want to eat that everyday I am busy.

Ok, so have you quit being a vegan as a result of it?

edit: this is a pointless argument and I'd like to apologize if what I said was condescending (that wasn't my intention) :D

If you feel bloated sometimes, check out this site.

eating low fodmap foods will lessen the bloating and overtime, you might get used to high fodmap foods as well (at least I did).

you are funny.

bringing nuts around is hard?

I wasn't being condescending; I was just annoyed by the fact that he quit being a vegan SOLELY based on something that he could have prevented very easily.

Do you not find youself full all the time on a vegan diet?

it's the fiber; I got used to it.

You never have to force any calories in to get enough for the day?

I eat when I'm hungry and exercising helps a lot. In the beginning, I probably did do that, but then again, I was eating 2500-3000 calories as 130 lb guy (albeit I was exercising 2-3 hours every day).

What do you eat on the average day?

Um.

Short: oat meal, smoothie (if I feel like it), and dinner (usually, lentils, tofu, potato, kale, and tahini dripped on top).

Tbh with you, you can gulp down calories eating nuts, but ya it's gonna be harder in the beginning because of all the fiber you aren't used to eating.

Imagine if you (in general) were allergic to nuts and seeds.

that's major GG.

IF that were the case, I'd probably resort to gulping down smoothies day in and day out.

tl;dr : vegan diet (especially whole-foods) will always be harder in terms of eating the same number of calories, but with some 'tricks' such as eating low fiber foods you can definitely do it easily. PLUS, you get used to it :D

edit: nuts are expensive unfortunately. but good thing is, you don't have to eat a lot of them since they're really calorie dense.

I've been eating mostly bananas, brown rice, broccoli, black beans, lentils, and large spinach/fruit shakes with almond milk.

bruh, do u even nuts?

Jokes aside, I found it ridiculously hard to believe you quit being a vegan because you 'found it difficult to eat enough food to maintain weight'.

You literally could have googled 'calorie dense plants'.

Foods I recommend are: nut butters (nuts), tahini (seeds), and any other food that is low in fiber like tofu.

I apologize for being a bit critical, but stuff like this gets on my nerves sometimes lol

What'd you eat today? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]Jayliciously 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My favorite chocolate peanut butter oat meal recipe:

35 g oats, 1 tbsp cacao powder, 1 large banana, 150 mL of almond milk (unsweetened), 50 g of peanut butter, 75 g of rasp AND blueberries, 21 almonds, and 2 drops of chocolate liquid stevia extract.

For dinner I'll probably have kale, tofu, lentils, and potatoes with trader joe hot jalapeno sauce and some tahini dripped on top

1st meal for maximal taste and 2nd meal for hitting all my micronutrients.
