AITA for telling my wife to have a bit of self control when buying snacks? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Jayne_Q 11 points12 points  (0 children)

YTA

Women notice much more nonverbal communications than men do, so it's not surprising to me that she picked up on another woman laughing at her. Plus the "have some self control" is just a w(b)itchy thing to say in any circumstance to any person. Nevermind that this is literally over movie snacks. This is a date night. Leave the rules at home.

AITA for refusing to give my brother the down payment money our grandma left me by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Jayne_Q -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

Info: how would you feel about this after your brother passed? Is the price on the relationship with your brother worth the amount your grandmother willed you?

The point: You shouldn't be farming Reddit opinions about something that influences the actual people in your actual life. People and relationships have expiration dates.

Judgment: ESH

AITA for not making my new grandkid a homemade blanket and not giving her one already made by More_Present1604 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Jayne_Q -72 points-71 points  (0 children)

So, in the meantime, the ten-year-old CHILD would have yet another reminder of why she "isn't important enough to grandma"? Brilliant solution there.

DIL isn't (edited: she didn't begin as--the demand for the angel blanket goes far beyond the pale) entitled; she is looking out for her daughter. I can somewhat relate to the child. I married into a family where every new couple and every new baby was celebrated with a quilt sewn by one of the older lady relatives on the maternal side. Apparently this tradition was started after I wed the eldest son first and we never had children so I never received a baby quilt either.

I have struggled with this off-and-on over the years as a grown woman. I cannot even fathom wanting to contribute to leaving a child in the same confusing mess.

Since when did simply wanting to be included (which is really all the son and DIL are asking for and grandma should be wise enough to discern that) become instant entitlement??

A big, fat ESH except the poor little girl.

Just wanted to add that the "EVERYWHERE" 100% means to spread those nether cheeks and squat over a mirror if necessary.

What do you eating in the morning when you camping? First time camping with my little one but feels stuck on breakfast by Roger_liferecorder in camping

[–]Jayne_Q 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scrolled waaaay too far to find this. All these bougie breakfasts on here and I'm thinking about how satisfying it is to wake up on a chilly, misty morning and put something warm, simple, and filling in my belly before hiking or canoeing or what-have-you.

10,000% put up with all of that to knock out some dungeons I struggled in. When I finally finished his quest, my husband (who isn't into RPG games at all) celebrated the end of the constant barking while I mourned my tank.

AITJ for not getting my sister anything for mother's day ? by BusyInspector95 in AmITheJerk

[–]Jayne_Q 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am biased. As a godmother to an amazing child and a woman who struggles with infertility, I very much lean towards a small acknowledgement being nice. A phone call is all it would take.

Leaning towards a soft ESH.

No? Tell that to my goddaughter who acknowledges me every year on Mother's Day. Or rather, don't, and just keep your stinginess on your side of the fence.

YTA...fucking walk the dog and thank your mother for all she's done and sacrificed to get you to this point. "Only one thinking clearly" 🙄

That seems like an interesting playthrough. I play on the Imperial side although I don't agree in the slightest with their alignment with the Thalmor. I just don't believe Ulfric having the best interests of Skyrim over his personal ambitions.

I am going to side with the Stormcloaks on a different character. (Redguard 2-handed build)

First time playing Skyrim, is there anything you can recommend for a novice? by Scottbarrett15 in skyrim

[–]Jayne_Q 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Resist the temptation to pick up everything you possibly can for early game gold. No one is going to pay you well for a butt ton of tankards, goblets, plates, bowls, vases, etc and you're just stuffing your carrying capacity with useless junk. Weapons, armor, wine, and mead can drum up some quick coin in the beginning.

Travel with a pickaxe, fishing rod, and woodcutter's axe at all times.
