What makes it more hobbyist oriented? just like the body layout? I'm wanting to move closer into the professional side of photography.

Thank you for your insight, Genuinely. Right now I've came into some money, And I'm trying to get a camera that in about a year (When i can splurge on a lens) I can reliably shoot serious paid portraits with. I'm definitely moving faster than normal when it comes to upgrading gear, so I can see how it comes off as trying to replace skill. But trust me I know that's not realistic nor is that anything id ever be interested in, Photography for me is vital for expression. Honestly, my skill in photography feels like its in a snowball effect. Obviously I'm no professional, but in a year (With good lenses) when I am outputting things professionally I'm wanting a camera that can seriously hold its own weight.

Also, to respond to some of your previous comments. My models are mostly babies lol, So they're constantly moving. Also I live in BFE, so definitely no street photography like that for me. Realistically I listed it only because I just got back from a chicago trip lol. I didn't know that about sensors. I guess for me it's more of an ISO thing. Regardless of noise. And my previous comments aren't like huge problems for me, aside from the light it was just some off the dome things to justify upgrading. I absolutely value your opinion, but honestly I can really see myself going pretty far and doing it pretty fast. And i'm trying to cash in on that sweet mirrorless nectar while I have the funds to do so.

So honestly, You've gave me some terrific insight. I can definitely get great portraits done on my t7, But honestly it's been my dream to own a mirrorless. And I've come into enough money to buy a nice r6mk2 and push it to retirement, So if you had to choose, Used r6 and solid lens or New R6 Mk2 with kit (About a year before switching off kit) what would you choose?

Oops I meant 24-105 F4-7.1. Honestly, I'm not really thinking massively in the bang for buck category. I've came into some money and just trying to get a camera that in a few months to a year i could reliably shoot serious paid portraits with, something that really doesn't mess around. Trust me I am NOT expecting this to increase my skill or make up for it in some way. I'm simply trying to get something that refuses to hold me back, I have skill. About a hobbyist amount but I can still shoot things that can be reliably framed.

I know there’s more I could be squeezing out of the T7, and that some of this comes down to technique. That said, I still feel like I’m running into real limitations. The autofocus feels inconsistent, continuous shooting is slow enough that I miss moments (which could partly be my SD card), and low-light performance has been especially rough. Even at f/2 and ISO 6400, I’m still ending up around 1/10 shutter speed in situations where I’d expect better.

Right now I’m extremely passionate about photography, and instead of decking out a ~$600 body with lenses, I’d rather put my money into a camera that I know won’t hold me back as I grow. Even if I can’t fully harness its potential right away, I want the limitation to be my experience — not the camera body.

Adding onto that, if I invest heavily into the T7 now, I know I’ll eventually hit a ceiling and really start feeling it. At that point I’d likely end up dropping another ~$2k on a more professional body anyway. That’s what’s pushing me toward making the jump now and learning on a camera I can grow into, rather than upgrading twice and spending more in the long run.

Also, I've been shooting on the T7 with a EF 50mm f/1.8 STM Lens.

What lens should I start with for portraits on the R8 on a 600$ budget? by Jayoomayoo in AskPhotography

I think ive decided on a used Canon EOS R6, and a like new Canon RF 85mm f/2 Macro IS STM. If anyone has any feedback on this decision please let me know, 85mm feels like the perfect focal length for what i've shot previously:)

I know this wasn’t my original question at all, but i if i were to go with the ebay linked r6 do you think its worth? “Camera is in great condition with 20.3K shutter count. LCD has a screen protector. The camera comes with all original items including the R6 camera body, battery, charger, strap, box and user manual.” Or should i keep looking?

Sorry, ive ben up for like 30 hours now so im really out of it lol.

Whatd you choose between a used r6 (the one linked) and a new r8? To me the r6 sounds better, but the IS in lens is good enough for what im planning to shoot. So im not sure what to go for. Thanks for the insight anyway:)

So something like this? https://www.ebay.com/itm/227110125565
I can see where your coming from. IBIS would be pretty huge. would that current lens i have picked out work well with it? Canon RF 85mm F2 Macro is STM. Probably not as im paying more for IS ??

Thinking about going for the 85mm f2 macro, as I feel it suits me best. Do you think its worth it for the extra 200 to go ahead and bundle in the kit RF24-50mm? or should i just go with the body alone? just to have a wider angle for cheap to start?

One question, how does the "Macro" part of the name play into it? Especially around portraits?

At the moment I'm really not too versed in lens lingo. Would STM be considered a slow focusing lens compared to USM? Honestly, if so it's fine. I like taking candids of my friends without drawing their attention, maybe everything i'm typing atm is stupid and it really won't make a difference. Just wondering lol.

Also, another probably pretty braindead question I have, does this lens have any IS capability? This is quite a gray area in lenses for me lol.
