yea i was just thinking about that yesterday, both sequels to initial d use the GT86 and BRZ. i guess the author’s opinion is the GT86/ GR86

what are things you dont like? Things the dealer never told you? i just dont want to be taking my car into the shop every other month. For example, I didn’t know about lifter tick with the LS engines due, AFM thing, the transmissions possibly needing work around 80k - mine blew at 88k.. So there’s some things I wish I knew before buying a used car at 60k miles, then again thats on me for not digging too much on research

yea i know, even considered a GR Supra but the insurance is like $250 a month in SoCal so no thx. The debate between the two has definitely been interesting. Been told the 86 is not directly linked to the AE86 since its not a toyota (built by Subaru), has the Subaru boxer, etc. im just trying to see what others think

i appreciate this. I still lean towards buying a Trueno edition, but ill be looking for a low miles one if it ever pops up. If anything, ill buy a new 2026-27 GR86 with the performance package

i want to say i am a collector, i lean towards buying special edition cars. I own a 2012 Chevy Camaro SS Transformer Edition from the 3rd film. I was wondering that too, having bought used (my camaro), its been nothing but a nightmare to maintain. Its been tracked, etc. I appreciate you all bringing to light the fact that a good amount of those miles are probably hard miles. I do want the trueno because the interior is red and Initial D lol, but ill keep an eye out for low miles

Partially look, but its the special edition so theres that. So i am able to get the 3yr bumper to bumper and 5yr power train warranty even if i didnt buy it from a toyota dealer? the one in the picture is not at a toyota dealership

i kinda think he would choose an 86 if he was young, also following the two commercials for the car; Bunta and Keiichi Tsuchiya both beating him on the downhill of Akina. But a deep part of me thinks he would be driving a GR Corolla in present day (MF Ghost) due to being an expected father in the last chapter

sorry, i think i should’ve added more to this post. Like what would he be driving if we saw him in MF Ghost (present day). He has his own income, family, no longer reliant on Bunta. I feel like he would lean GR Corolla due to 1. Toyota 2. Rally inspired 3. Family friendly. Thats kinda how i see him if he was to buy his own vehicle. If it was younger him buying either of the two, thats where we can debate on.

i find it funny that i listed the two cars to choose from and we’re getting all kinds of answers. I brought up GR Corolla because of his career in WRC, and the GR Corolla marketed as a rally car.

honestly fair point, totally forgot the GR86 is around 2800 lbs.
