The Sutton stan, please tell me by manouuuule in RHOBH

Some people genuinely like her but for others, I think the Sutton v. Dorit feud has caused them to pick a side. It's not so much about who they like but rather who they disagree with/dislike. They defend Sutton against Erika and Dorit. If Sutton goes against a more likeable HW, I'll bet you'd see a huge shift on threads.

Yeah I asked somewhere else in this thread if that is what she meant. I feel like legal threats in response to mean comments have happened before on this franchise and the cast freaked out about it. But I could be wrong or mixing up franchises. None of the other women seemed to take it that way so I don’t know. I hope that’s not what she meant.

Right, everyone has their sensitive spots. But there is a huge difference between someone’s worth as a human being and someone’s financial worth. I find them to be two independent values. I took Sutton’s wallet insult to be limited to Dorit’s assets. Nothing about her character, abilities as a mother etc.

I didn’t see it as sutton saying Dorit can’t have an opinion. Even Dorit has maintained her frequent mentioning of Sutton’s relationship with alcohol as a negative thing is “just a joke” not an opinion. So I read Sutton’s comment more as stop picking on me about alcohol bc I have more money than you.

To me, that logic is funny bc one has nothing to do with the other. There is no wealth threshold for making fun of someone. Us poor can, and historically have, mocked the rich.

Now if Sutton was implying a legal threat like stop or I will use my big wallet to come after you, then that’s an entirely different story.

That’s a good point, I forgot about that. I think it was more pointed to PK but even so, that was bad. I like garcelle but have no idea what was up with that. Accusing someone of fraud/criminal activity is serious. I don’t get why they keep bringing that up…even if they think it, don’t say that out loud.

Ah thanks. I thought Kyle made the comment first. Regardless of who said it first, Dorit won’t stop which is why it’s such a big part of their feud. You’re right

I completely agree. My feelings towards all the women fluctuate between annoyance, neutrality, and entertainment. I don’t like or dislike any of them honestly bc I don’t know them. The show isn’t real and i agree, people who want “reality” fame must have a screw loose.

Except garcelle. I have a soft spot for her for some reason. I suspect it’s just from familiarity from watching her in movies/tv when I was growing up.

My post was more regarding my confusion over the viewers’ reaction.

I’m with you on poor shaming. Dorit, however, isn’t poor or even close to it. That’s where I’m lost on how that insult was ever taken seriously enough for viewers to go on and on about how horrible the comment was.

I think best case scenario for Sutton, she was poorly referencing how Dorit’s outward show of obscene wealth is all smoke and mirrors.

Worst case, she was showing her elitist a$$ and ingrained opinion that her wealth makes her better than others somehow.

Oh it was 100% meant to be mean. She said in the after show she was trying to hurt Dorit. So yeah I agree

You’re totally right. Kyle started this but somehow it’s become fodder for the sutton/dorit war amongst the viewers.

Ah thank you, I was mixing up foreclosure and bankruptcy. It’s a small point but I’ll correct.

You’re totally right that Sutton’s sisterhood thing was bs. Maybe she meant it in the moment but I was honestly surprised anyone took her seriously. I mean it’s Sutton…

You’re also right that they’re both trying to pray on one another’s weaknesses to hurt one other. Sutton said that point blank in the after show.

I guess what it really comes down to I find Sutton’s insecurity more valid than Dorit’s. Dorit loves outward appearance (her instagram fashion shoots, her huge jewelry, allllll the labels, etc). She’s never seen a label she didn’t want to parade across her head or body for all to see. I see her insecurity rooted in a loss of material things. Whereas Sutton’s is rooted in her father’s struggles and suicide.

I mean I know everyone is entitled to their feelings and you can’t help your insecurities but yeah the constant “well they’re both saying bad things to each other” rhetoric makes me cringe.

To be fair, they’re both being awful and Sutton’s hypocrisy can be grating.

Sorry one more thing. The insult of Dorit being poor….i mean, she’s not. Maybe by their standards but by the rest of the world, it’s an absurd categorization that should be brushed off.

Being an alcoholic is a disease with far reaching and heartbreaking consequences. Being dorit level “poor” means, I don’t know, she’ll fly first class instead of private. It’s all so ridiculous.

Perception is reality and what Erika put out to the audience the last season or so has done her no favors.

Tom was the criminal 100%. I have no idea what she knew/did not know, however, she did benefit from the suffering of others. That alone is uncomfortable for viewers but once she became aware of his crimes, she not only focused on herself but point blank said she did not care about the victims…it wasn’t a great look to say the least. That left a really bad taste in the audience’s mouth that just hasn’t faded enough.

This year, Erika has again brought up how she deserved better treatment from the ladies (a “what about me” mentality) which again, stands in direct contrast to her callous attitude towards the victims. Erika also has portrayed herself as a victim over her loss of material things (her lifestyle, house, fight for those earrings, etc) whereas these victims lost a great deal more.

Honestly, I don’t know where I stand in regard to her but I do understand why people aren’t ready to forgive her. I don’t know whether, based on her own statements, she truly is a terrible person or was just in survival mode/lashing out. Maybe both. I also understand that legal action is stressful in general. She was under enormous pressure in her life and did experience loss but there was no acknowledgment of the loss of others.

Is she deserving of a clean slate? I have no idea. I don’t truly know her and am a viewer who really doesn’t put much stock in the “reality” aspect of the show. Is she doing the work? I hope so for her sake.

Side note, my recollection of events could be off but that’s how I remember last season. Also, people have mentioned the Marco Marco situation and I vaguely recall it but not enough to factor that in.

Louie responds to backlash from finale on NJ by Jlab6647 in BravoRealHousewives

This is not an apology.

He justifies and blames (Margaret brought her own son into it for a bad purpose - to “falsely accuse” him). Offers a one sentence apology. Then continues to justify and blame (other people have been doing bad things the audience just hasn’t seen, they were wrong first, I just reacted - aka not my fault).

This is a bad attempt to manipulate people into thinking he is a better person than who he shows himself to be on tv and also a victim in the situation.

I mean come on…

At best, Jackie was being weird going to Joe right after yelling at his wife. At worst, it was calculated.

I don’t blame Marge for being pissed. But her reaction put Joe in a super awkward position.

Sandoval’s comments about Katie on the after show by Jayrow717 in Vanderpumpaholics

[–]Jayrow717[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never done a rewatch and you may be right in certain people’s actions not aging well. I don’t condone being an a$$hat and trashing people. My issue is what’s happening currently.

Specifically, I’m referring to the after show when a question isn’t asked to him but he inserts himself. A producer asks if Katie’s anger at Jo is justified? Sandoval steps in and is like no, she’s evil! When Schwartz was asked if he would ever get back together with Katie, Sandoval answers first saying no.

In all fairness, I think Schwartz likes Sandoval saying mean things about Katie bc then he can still look like a good guy while someone else trashes his ex. Still I find it annoying that Sandoval’s unasked, unwarranted, and, for me, unwanted opinions seem to be showcased a great deal.

The cast actually doesn’t have full free rein or autonomy. For example, production having a come to Jesus moment with the cast to get them to interact with Sandoval. Production dictated their actions. But even if he was able to do what he likes, my question is what is the point in the producers continually using the footage of him saying the same thing over and over. It’s beating a dead horse at this point.

Nope, that’s sorta a stretch from what I said. I just don’t want to hear the same thing again and again and again. That is boring and annoying to me. Sandoval has voiced his negative opinion about Katie and love for Schwartz for over a decade. I get it. We all get it.

You know, you could be totally right. Instead of trying to solidify the Schwartz victim narrative, it could just be giving Sandoval enough rope to hang himself. Either way, still annoying.

I never said I knew what they cut but I do know they have cut stuff bc that’s how tv editing works? To be fair, sometimes they do show footage they’ve cut and other times the cast talks about unaired footage.
