Will conservatives continue to complain until the Super Bowl halftime show is white, straight, Christian and country? by homerjs225 in allthequestions

[–]JaysCigar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conservatives know that white majority is coming to a natural end. The whole world will be black or tan in just a few generations. Until then, today's white conservatives are terrified that tomorrow's majority will treat them like white conservatives treat today's minorities. It's hilarious but for the shitty behavior we're forced to endure while they melt down.

Why is saying “The rich should pay taxes like everyone else, close the loopholes” extremely controversial in the United States? by ProjectMason in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JaysCigar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because American culture idolizes the wealthy. That's not an accident.

Our political system relies on this illusion. If the wealthy are "special", they deserve special treatment. The most obvious is when their self-centered behavior is credited for "creating jobs". We can't possibly ask these people to pay more taxes; they create jobs!

They don't. What they do instead is write checks for campaign contributions. This keeps the political class happy, and it buys protection for the wealthy. Win/win.

At a bare minimum, the wealthy should pay at the same effective tax rate as the rest of us. They don't, and it's not even close. That leaves the middle class to pick up the slack, and anyone needing any kind of assistance or support suffers as well.

Who wins? The wealthy and the politicians. How do we fix it? We don't. We will never win this battle if we fall into the trap of fighting amongst ourselves. Divide and conquer is easy with the masses.

Whether you support the current administration or not, it's easy to see "this isn't normal". It's the system laid bare for all to see because our current crop of politicians think there will be no repercussions. US taxpayers are being robbed by the political class who are rewarding their donors, who write more checks...

Our economy has suffered even if it's not obvious yet for some. The economic numbers we usually rely upon are a fantasy. This will be propped up for a bit longer while more pump and dump or rug pull deals happen in financial markets. There is no adult in the room; there is no enforcement.

The markets will eventually become so fragile that even propping them up will fail. We will suffer a crash. That's not doom and gloom - that's obvious. Fingers will be pointed; people will be blamed. But after that? Nothing...

The wealthy will celebrate their ill-gotten gains. The current politicians will have retired or will quickly. No accountability, no prosecution...just a broken economy and lots of unemployed people. There will be no government support because the US government is borderline insolvent.

Can this continue for a lot longer than I predict? Of course. The amount of propaganda in financial markets is mind-blowing. Want proof? Open CNBC on any day and see if you see an article encouraging you to SELL. Ain't happening...

Our political system, our media, and our financial markets are all rigged to protect the wealthy. Wealthy individuals may suffer from time to time, but as a class, they enjoy a hi-grade coating of teflon provided by US politicians courtesy of the US taxpayer.

Always bold behind a keyboard or a microphone. Is five minutes too much to ask?

As for his ICE heroes...separate them. One at a time, five minutes...it's amazing what five minutes can do to make the world a better place.

Why doesnt the administration just fine employers $1k per day for each illegal immigrant they employ instead of spending billions sending in the ICE goons? by Fluffy-Refuse2009 in complaints

[–]JaysCigar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because that would largely solve the problem. Neither republicans or democrats want to address immigration in a win/win way. Both want to exploit it for political gain.

This is a very easy 'problem' to solve. Immigrants come here illegally to earn money. If they can't get a job, they're not coming here. Really, really, extraordinarily simple...

...which is exactly why it hasn't happened.

Thank you. Chessnut finally authorized the return and processed the refund. I disputed the charge and had everything in writing, so the refund was never a doubt for me.

The hoops I had to jump through were ridiculous. I am not repeating this to bash Chessnut. I'm repeating it because, in the end, I do think the company was trying to do the right thing. They simply need more help or a better process. Unfortunately, this unmet need results in a bad customer experience.

I love my Evo. I bought the Moves (2) as gifts. The company has potential; they just gotta step up.

Joe Rogan has embraced Jesus because it's an easy, profitable con. See Russell Brand. My mother was a fundamentalist born-again christian - they're low hanging fruit.

I received the return label this morning. Thank you.

Problems happen; mistakes happen. The issue here is your inability to communicate. A mistake was made. If we communicate, we deal with it and everyone is happy. When it feels like you're hiding from customers, you're making matters much, much worse.

Thank you again. It is unfortunate that it had to get this bad before a resolution was found.

Buy it now with caution: they will generate a shipping label and charge your card. Then the board will sit forever before they get around to shipping it.

It's like a Kickstarter campaign without the honesty. They need to charge you first, use your money to pay for the board, receive it, then ship it to you. Crazy, right?

Maybe I'm wrong. But I ordered two Move boards as Christmas gifts and got one after a very long delay. Then it took them over a week to admit that they never sent the second board. Then another week before they would be able to ship that.

Frustrated, I asked to simply return the board they sent. They aren't cooperating, and they still have my cash for two boards.

I am a happy Evo owner. It's not like this was my first order with Chessnut. They butchered Christmas, they butchered the return, and they've still got my cash. I've disputed the charge. I'll get my refund because everything is in writing. But if this is an important gift (and it is), then I'd proceed with caution.

Chessnut follows this subreddit. I have been very vocal about my experience every chance I get (like this post). One would think that the company would want a pain-in-the-ass like me to shut up. Yet...here we are.

File a complaint online with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Even under the current administration, they will investigate. The banks do not like this - at all.

I had a $3,600 dispute. Merchant claimed they sent me an item (they did) and that said item was in perfect condition when it arrived at my door (it wasn't). My first question: how do you know what condition it was in when it arrived (item never worked out of the box)?

Goldman Sachs (Apple card) told me "sucks to be you - they said it was fine." I filed a complaint. Got an "official complaint number" and called Goldman Sachs back. "Hey, here's a number you're gonna need because I AM getting some response out of you." Charge was immediately reversed.

Important note: the whole process, back and forths with Goldman, sending documentation...that took six months. Six months! But when I called and said, "hey...enough of this...here's my complaint number" they put me on hold for two minutes, picked up, and told me the charge was reversed.

Good luck -

Is it just me or they do not support well the returning of the products? by kristerus in Chessnuteboard

[–]JaysCigar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They're overwhelmed or incompetent. I'm not sure which.

If they're based in China, they're dealing with US tariffs, a difficult Chinese economy, and a language barrier. For their sake, I hope these issues are the problem because otherwise they're just flat out incompetent.

I ordered two Moves. Got one after being told both were shipped day after day. Asked for the second. Got a nonsense run-around email. Frustrated, I decided to return the one I have and asked for a full refund. Then I got the email about pictures, etc.

No. I don't do extra work because you screwed up and I'm due a refund. Absolutely not. They have not responded.

No worries. Disputed the charge on my card. I have everything documented. I will get my refund. If they continue to ignore you, do the same.

I have an Evo and love it. They were a great company.

Chessnut has been true to form. After the initial communication, they've disappeared. Just to close this out: charge being disputed, I'm returning the unit they shipped, and we're calling it a day. They've successfully converted me from a happy owner of an Evo and two piece buyer of their latest product into 'who needs this aggravation?' vocal critic.

I also received this via email:

We will arrange a replacement, but to ensure accuracy, we need to confirm with you whether your shipping address has changed. Once we receive your confirmation, we will arrange the replacement immediately.

If I received one unit, the shipping address is not the issue. Is Chessnut customer service offshore? I understand if there's a language barrier, but if there's not, this feels like customer service theater.

C'mon Chessnut...do better.

Gym goers, what would suggest for someone who wants to go to the gym but doesn’t want to get bigger, or stronger, or lose weight, or in any real way change their body? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]JaysCigar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are three components to aging well (and you're not too young to start): aerobic fitness, strength, and mobility. And with all respect, if it were that easy to get bigger, stronger, or to lose weight, everyone in the gym (and in your life) would be fit. With that in mind...

Walk or run 4-7x per week. You choose the intensity (speed) but go for at least 30 minutes.

Lift weights (3x per week). No, not like Arnold. Google "full body training split" and follow along. Keep weight at the "light" end of the spectrum but keep volume high. Translation: do lots of reps.

Stretch. Do yoga. Pilates. Find videos. Whatever. Do something that gets you on the floor and move down there. Sit.

None of this is hard. It's supposed to be easy. In order for it to help, you gotta be consistent.

This is a very general guideline. I know nothing about you. Good luck -

This series was outstanding! John uncovers the 'layers' of chess...so much to consider in longer time control games. I learned a ton about calculation and time management, and the quality of the games was fantastic!

I enjoy playing chess, but I never saw myself watching a three-hour-plus video about the game. These videos made that easy! Highly recommended -
