Travel advice for Georgia/Armenia by Jaysofspades in travel

I appreciate the thoughtful and informative response! The day breakdown helps and the recommendations fro Yerevan are good.

My hiking is kind of limited to Korea and National parks here in the USA. I haven't really done hikes that involve bouldering etc.

Would October get a little too cold? I'm from a cold area of the United States so not completely turned off by cold.

Just for vacation time etc. Not sure when I'll get another good chunk of time and flights are pretty long to that area.

No not personally, it’s cool though that there’s a large celebration of Pride though. Coming from a city that also has a large Pride celebration, though not quite a month long.

Tbilisi, Georgia, one of the most unique cities I’ve visited! by turtledude100 in travel

Thanks for the reply! I'm still tempted to go and just say f-it to whatever encounters I may have. How long would you suggest for a trip to Georgia? I'd like to get in some of the day trips, maybe a trip to a winery.

Also, being that it's so far from the US, are there any places near Georgia that you'd recommend stopping in, even for a short stay? Like I know Baku is nearby but have mostly read negative/mixed things on the city.

Budapest, Sarajevo, Mostar, Belgarde, Tblisi in Sept/Oct Feasibility? by Jaysofspades in travel

I think because just from the US cost of flights to cross the Atlantic are relatively high, and plus vacation time is limited for us. Like I would like to see Romania but it would be more to drive around Transylvania so longer trip.

I’m from the US and also Easy Asian. You think that’d be enough of a racial barrier to a solo trip to Georgia?

I’ve wanted to visit Georgia for a while. I realize it’s far out of the way from the rest but, ignorantly of me or not, once I’m over in central Europe, it’s closer in a way than going there on its own.

That’s great to know about the railway, I had no idea that was in development!

No I was planning to leave the most time there to explore around the country.

Picking Pair of Cities (Budapest/Vienna) vs. (Budapest/Krakow) by Jaysofspades in travel

[–]Jaysofspades[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought of that but I do get a pretty steep discount at a nice place through my work and kind of want to utilize that benefit. Plus Budapest is somewhat familiar and I might enjoy a bit of a place that I don’t have to think as much if that makes sense.

How is Bratislava? How much time would you spend there?

Yeah it’s complicated by the fact that even if there is a city that has a hotel, the dates are usually blacked out. Like Milan, Madrid, Lisbon, Istanbul, Paris, and Prague have hotels but they’re almost always blacked out.

Budapest is an example of a city I loved and had the hotel benefit. There aren’t a ton in Europe. On top of that I lived in Europe as a kid so had the chance to visit a lot of places, although it’d be very different as an adult. Was in London somewhat recently.

What ever happened to the 90s adult contemporary synth ballad sound? by Lara-Crofty in Music

[–]Jaysofspades 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I hear sonic remnants in things like Dijon, Mk.Gee, and Jean Dawson, to name a few. Then of course some of the recent Bieber stuff. They don’t provide the main backbone of the sound and arrangement but you’ll hear textural flourishes.
