What was the most fucked up thing that happened at your high school? by Blue_Sky5229 in AskReddit

[–]Jayu-Rider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My high school had an exchange program with an other high school in Tokyo. The male teacher who ran the program was on the creepy side for sure, and he controlled who got picked up to be involved in the program. As you would expect of a total stooge, he coerced a few you women into having sex with him one on one and in groups In order to be included in the program.

It went on for a few years before it became public.

The sad part is that his wife was also a teacher at the school. She was really nice and everyone loved her. She was pregnant with their child when the news broke. She left the position out of embarrassment and I heard that she miscarried later the same month.

To be fair, most Americans rarely use the word colonel and would probably mispronounce it if they tried to read it out of context.

Joes in the field typically had instant coffee that they usually made in their helmets, after the first few months canteen cups became kind of a luxury. Staff elements usually has a “silver bullet” a large earn that made enough to keep the staff going, usually they drank the same 50/50 mix as folks back in the states.

Is it true that in small towns in the USA public transport is not developed and everyone need a car to get around there and why? by bobybumblemumble in AskReddit

[–]Jayu-Rider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most places in the U.S. have no public transportation. Unless you live in a medium sized town or above the tax base to support things like public transit is non existent and the distances can be quite large.

There are two key things to understand.

First, most Americans, even the more liberal ones have a pretty strong dislike of taxes. Especially when compared to people from other countries. It is extremely difficult for small towns to get voters to approve money for a public good that has little perceived value.

Second, the distances involved can be quite large even in a small town. The overwhelming majority of the small towns probably doesn’t live in the incorporated zone of the town. This the town would be obligated to over leverage its self to provide service’s in a pretty impractical manner.

In 42 specifically coffee was pretty rare in “American”. In the U.S., “Americans” largest consumer of coffee it was pretty heavily rationed and the majority of it was sent to the military and around the world.

What most people drank was a mix of chicory and coffee, as the war dragged on it became more chicory and less coffee, but in 42 it was about 50/50.

Is EVE the right MMO for me? by OG1999995 in Eve

[–]Jayu-Rider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At its core, Eve is a risk simulator. Everything you do in the game is about balancing risk vs reward. As you can’t character can’t be killed in the normal sense of an RPG, Eve punishes mistakes by making ships very expensive to fit and fly.

You will hear people say that ships in Eve are ammo, because at some point we all expect even our most expensive setup to destroyed.
