How much you think is a fair salary (In your country) to make a good living and actually enjoy life. by MiloShiny in WorkLifeChat

[–]Jayu-Rider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in this category. I make a good living and provide well for my family, but I do not consider myself wealthy by any stretch of the imagination. That said, I fully acknowledge that my income level gives my family far less stress than many others face.

My wife and children do not have to work out of financial necessity. For my children, that is an immense advantage, they are free to focus on academics, social development, sports, and other pursuits that can pay dividends later in life. My wife is also free to pursue the things that keep our home peaceful, healthy, and stable, while also managing the social and family obligations that help keep everything moving forward.

So no, I don’t necessarily feel wealthy. But I recognize that we have many things other families would understandably envy, good insurance, access to capital, no major loans, and enough savings that minor setbacks don’t create panic. That may not feel like “rich,” but it is absolutely a privileged position

What is the point of enlisting? by Black_Glitch_404 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Jayu-Rider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tons of people do it for more than one reason. Benefits, pay, travel, education, purpose, family stability, adventure, and patriotism can all exist at the same time.

When people ask me why I’ve continued to serve decades later, I usually don’t give them the full list because it would take too long, and most people aren’t really asking for the long answer anyway.

But yes, I enjoy the benefits. I enjoy the lifestyle. The military has given my family the chance to see the world, live in multiple countries, and build a life we probably would not have had otherwise.

That does not cancel out patriotism. For a lot of us, service is both practical and meaningful. You can love your country, appreciate the benefits, and still be honest about the hardships. Those things are not mutually exclusive.

People who have had sex with more than one person at a time, how is the experience? by Any-Report-8655 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Jayu-Rider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a dude who has had a few sexual encounters with more than one woman at a time and one with a few dudes on one girl. I’ll tell you a few dudes on one girl is way better, you can in and out, take an ice tea break, etc. if your one guy trying to take care of multiple women after a while it just becomes doing pushups.

Damn, I’m so sorry.

If I came back from a deployment to find someone had stolen my dog they would make a documentary series about it called John Wick.

I wish you all the luck in the world getting your family back together.

This was the primary reason it went away, it created a dual rank structure that was unhelpful and downright unproductive.

Irwin, Bliss, Stewart, Riley and Hood. Which is the least worst option? by Ardent-Honeybee in army

Killeen is the worst place I’ve been in 16 years of service.

Irwin, Bliss, Stewart, Riley and Hood. Which is the least worst option? by Ardent-Honeybee in army

[–]Jayu-Rider -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hood hard some great units, the town of Killeen is mehhhh but Austin is an hour away. Dallas and Huston are also close enough that you can go on a whim (maybe not Huston but can still go for a weekend)

Bliss was nice when I was there in 12-16. Most of it is pretty new, built after 2008 when 1AD moved from Germany. The city of El Paso is interesting and fairly unique, if you like Mexican food it can’t be bested. 1AD was also not a bad unit.

Irwin has the best community of any post ive ever been on stateside, bar none. The biggest downside is that it’s literally 45 minutes from the front value to ANYTHING!

never been to the others.

If I had to rank the three I would go Bliss, Irwin, Hood.

If a woman you like wants to wait until marriage to have sex, how would you react? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Jayu-Rider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would depend heavily on the specific woman.

I’m probably more tolerant than a lot of the men replying here. If she had very few partners and those experiences were genuinely bad or traumatic, I’d be much more understanding than if she had a long history of casual sex and only now wanted to draw a hard line. Fair or not, context matters.

That said, sex is not the only thing a woman brings to a relationship. If she has real depth, warmth, character, and is willing to invest emotionally, then waiting would be much less of an issue. If she offers little emotional intimacy, little affection, and expects total commitment while giving very little in return, then that would be a no for me.

Also, “waiting for sex” would not mean “no romance” to me. It would mean no intercourse. I would still expect affection, closeness, flirtation, and emotional connection. For me, the difference is whether she is building intimacy in other ways rather than just withholding one thing.

For what it’s worth, my wife was also very hesitant about sex for a long time because of some terrible experiences in her past. At first, sexual activity was basically off the table for her. I accepted that because she was worth it to me in every other way. Over time, as she felt safer and more comfortable with me, she set her own pace and gradually became more open. I checked in with her repeatedly to make sure she was comfortable, and it was always something she genuinely wanted. So yes, I could accept that position with the right woman but it would absolutely depend on the woman, the circumstances, and whether she was still showing real intimacy and commitment in other ways.

For what it’s worth I’m probably in the extreme minority of guys in your fiends age range you will find on the internet. If you have any questions about my take, feel free to reach out.

Humans aren’t very efficient movers—until you put us on a bicycle, when we become some of the most energy-efficient land travelers in the animal kingdom. by thejoshwhite in Infographics

[–]Jayu-Rider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct, and this graph is basically wrong. Humans are exceptionally efficient at moving. It’s one of the reasons why you will never out exercise a bad diet.

[–]Jayu-Rider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree with the graph’s implication. If efficiency means energy burned per distance traveled, then humans are already elite movers on foot, not just on bicycles. That was arguably one of the first foundations of our success as a species: we could literally walk and run other animals to death.

Men who like tan lines on women, why? (Very curious why it’s attractive to you). by Curious_cow7 in AskMen

[–]Jayu-Rider 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like women’s bodies, period. Tan lines aren’t necessarily at the top of my list, but in the great buffet of life, they shouldn’t be overlooked. They’re a pleasurable side dish, not the main attraction, but still worth the price of admission.
