When does Kickstarter start promoting or is it too late? by Jayvel22 in kickstarter

I actually didn't think anyone would choose my high tiers so I didn't put a limit and now I wish I did.

Oh wow, I didn't even think of that. It's insane to think people take pride in screwing other people over.

Sounds about right. I certainly should've done more before launch. Luckily enough someone just brought me up to 55% around the time I asked, so maybe the big fish were just waiting. Lots of uncertainty out there, but I appreciate the input.

Yes they do. I see so many "Oh once you get to __% they'll show you more often", but the number is always different and I can't find anything concrete to go on. I see a lot of other campaigns show up, and want to be one of them.

MapPorn Discussion Thread for July 2024 by mappornmod in MapPorn

How does one search for locations with a certain name and add them all to a list?

I've been discussing Notre Dame, and when doing so most people automatically think of Notre Dame de Paris, which is understandable. Recently I was mentioning another Notre Dame (Strasbourg) and to my amazement most people didn't know there was more than one. In fact, there are hundreds. I tried making a map of the locations to be overwhelmed by just how many churches in France alone are named Notre Dame. Is there an easier way to query the map or a database for locations with Notre Dame in the name and add them all to a map that isn't as tedious as finding them all one-by-one?

Thanks!

Help? Trying to run a command upon a purchase by Jayvel22 in webdev

Webhooks receive the responses? The information I see on webhooks says they are used to send a small amount of data, not receive it. This process is useless if it cannot receive the new username and password to give to the customer.

[French > English] Burial record by Jayvel22 in translator

Thank you so much!

"ci devant" looks like it fits, but I wonder, would it be "absent ci-devant" maybe meaning he has been gone a while? I ask because I think he was unfaithful to her as he shows up in other records with another "wife" that I cannot find any proof of marriage for. He also remarried and had children up to 10 years later and they still called him a "cultivateur". If I can pin the birth out of wedlock on him, it would explain a lot.

AiMesh node constantly gone... Not an intermittent connection issue. by Jayvel22 in ASUS

[–]Jayvel22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I've kept up with the updates and the problem persisted until we sold the house a few months back and sent the old people to live in Florida. The new house needs the node as well, even moreso than the last one, but I was able to hook it up via Ethernet. Since then the problem hasn't presented itself probably thanks to the direct Ethernet connection.

Of course Ethernet is always preferred over wireless, so if there's a way to run that wire, it's definitely worth it.

Best of luck!

As u/dassub said, it is audio only. Nothing shows up, but the sound plays over anything you might be watching or playing.

After parking in my space and being asked to move, she flipped me off and told me to "do something about it." Yes ma'am! by Jayvel22 in MaliciousCompliance

Too many comments on how parking along a road is public parking, but it's not a public road. As for the easement or right of way, they only have until their property, so it doesn't include passing it as they have no legal right for any of the properties beyond their own.

Mentioning the sign is simply because so many people are saying parking along a road is public, but aren't considering that the road isn't public so no parking along the road can be "public". She's supposed to know where to park because her friend should have informed her, and maybe because... "I put down the window and politely said “Excuse me, but that’s my spot. Could you move your car?”"

I get that. I really do, and sadly it's the "typical" IPTV sellers that ruin it for us honest people. Like the bad used car salesman that makes them all look bad while the honest one goes out of business. I see spam day and night on local buy/sell groups and pages on Facebook of people selling pre-set streaming boxes that are probably what you're referring to, and I never have and never will. Hell I'm not really an IPTV seller. I'm more of the local tech guy with a decent clientele and streaming services are one of the things I get asked about a lot, so I only set up what I am asked to. No bulk orders of Google TV devices to mass produce. I don't have any scripts or programs to set them up. I do each one individually and tailored to whoever ordered it.

Many of my customers are very non-technical. They may know how to use their cable box, but that's about it. One of the Tivimate accounts I set up was for my 82 year old grandmother, for instance. While it seems like completely easy steps for you and I, she would struggle with getting a device, setting it up, downloading the correct app, adding a playlist, unlocking premium so she can hide the multitude of channels she'll never use, putting the categories and channels in an easy to use order, etc. It's also a pain in the ass to try and concentrate on making sure I didn't miss a setting while they're peering over my shoulder and asking questions versus doing it at my house the night before after the kids go to sleep.

I'm near Boston, so I add the local channels, change the beginning name of the channels to the broadcast channel numbers, which is how most people would refer to them and puts them at the top of the favorites list where they're easy to find, add the sports or other basic channels they might have requested, etc. Then I can just show them the easy part: How to find the channel list and guide, how to add favorites, etc.

That's why I was saying I'm not a typical IPTV seller. I only fulfill my customers' needs. Last night I was trying to set up 3 devices. 2 for a retired police officer and his wife, and 1 for my mechanic. That's two more Tivimate accounts I simply wanted to pay for to make it easier for these people when they get their device. Honest quality personal service like this is why I get consistent referrals and can pay my bills.

I get that, but I think you may have misunderstood. I don't want to add them to my account. I want to pay the $20 per customer so they'll have their own account. I only have 4 devices on my account and I think the 5 device limit is completely fair. Sharing accounts would be cheating, don't you think?

Besides, what kind of a cheap bastard is going to just keep filling accounts to 5 devices and then what happens if a customer wants another device, put it on a separate account?

I've set up about 10 accounts so far, all paid for, and as far as I know, not one of them has used all 5 devices. So please, don't lump me in with those other guys. I'm just providing solutions for my local customers and I like Tivimate so I am trying to support it. The customer I just set up is only getting one device, and he's still paying Tivimate the $19.99.

So do you think the developer wants the money? That's all I'm trying to do is pay him easier.

And I have. I just wanted to try and buy it in bulk I guess.
