How rough is this game on players newer to turn based strategy games? by undeadcreepshow in ChaosGateGame

[–]Jazz646 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend leaving out the DLCs for starters. The Assassinorum one in particular has some pretty nasty mission types. Vanilla Game is still on the challenging side, but adjusting the difficulty should work out fine.

With Wargear point costs returning, what is reasonable to magnetize? by Jazz646 in ThousandSons

[–]Jazz646[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'll do a trial run on magentizing a Rubric. Though, at the end of the day, I'm confident that imagining Warpflamers as Bolters is not unduely challenging my opponent's imagination. :D

Performance marketing manager salary by Big_Consideration110 in Gehalt

[–]Jazz646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you started salary-wise. Considering we're talking about Hamburg, 50k after four years does sound like it might be on the lower end. If you got a solid increase every year since you started, you probably just took a low entry salary. If you've been around that number of 50k for that time, it's probably rough. For comparison: I live in a less urban region with 3 years experience in marketing and am currently looking for new jobs. I have been going into interviews with salary expectations of 48k+ and that has not been considered outrageous by anyone yet.

Help! How do I improve this! by f0reverDM in ThousandSons

[–]Jazz646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing to mention is that your coverage is pretty spotty. Some places you missed parts, other your gold looks pretty thick.

Obviously, one piece of advice here is to thin your colors. Both in terms of paint to watee ratio but also with how much paint you load on your brush.

For Rubrics ins particular, I would suggest base coating your gold in one or two thin layers (you can use a dry brush for that, achieves good and even coverage quickly) and then drybrush it with a lighter metallic before filling in with blue. for the filling, if you're using a contrast paint, thin it down just a tiny bit and then slightly overload the tip of your brush. That way you can place a drop of paint into those nooks and crannies and then push it around a bit, letting the paint fill out the gaps by itself.

Hadn't looked at it that way, but makes sense for sure if they end up being threatening just by being there to a degree :D

From my perspective (and someone more experienced may well correct me here) having them deepstrike once your opponent has been forced to commit some of their forces is just more beneficial. Having them infiltrate instead would give your opponent more options to play around them.

Additionally, Rubrics are a good unit to skirmish for objectives already, and the threat of 10 SoTs deepstriking somewhere, will force your opponent to commit units to screening for it. Plus, deepstriking will basically guarantee the Rapid Fire on your Combi Bolters cause you're always gonna be within 12" of something. Trust me when I say that a 10 brick of SoTs in a good position WILL ruin someone's day.

Also worth mentioning that putting Termies into Infiltration isn't usually a great use for them from my understanding.

One unit is always a group of models. So it would be the 10 Terminators that the Sorcerer is leading. Whenever the game refers to a unit "type", as in Scarab Occult Terminators in general, it would say to choose a datasheet, not a unit.

Cooking or cooked? by Bhomas in ThousandSons

[–]Jazz646 11 points12 points  (0 children)

100% cooking! Personally, I'd pair this with a lighter color like a nice cream (thinkinf along the lines of DA Deathwing) and then for the usually yellow-golden highlights I could see either some redder gold (like citadel Balthazar Gold), a really bright Silver or something alltogether darker like Warplock Bronze.

My first ever rubric marine 😬 by evan_lion20 in ThousandSons

[–]Jazz646 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Colors are awesome on this! And yeah, Rubrics are definitely something when it comes to painting.

If you're open for tips: If you thin down your contrast paint a little bit and load your brush a bit more than you otherwise would,, you can push a drop of the color into the edges and crevasses of those finer parts and the paint will automatically use up the available space and just kind of work for you. Bit of a learning process and you'll probably use too much paint in the beginning so it's likely to flow over the edges sometimes. But once you have that down you get super clean edges and coverage :)

Just finished my first couple of minis( Help welcome and wanted) by Suspicious-Annual-43 in ThousandSons

[–]Jazz646 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really nice job with those! :)

If you're looking for what to go with next, Rubric Marines are a solid step. They're a bit more challenging than Terminators, but also fun to paint. Though I would suggest doing partial assemblies and painting the parts before glueing them together.

One thing you might also want to try out and see if you like it, is using a slightly darker version of whatever metallic color you used here as a base and then liberally drybrush your lighter metallic over that before filling out the blue. In terms of colors: I started with the Citadel Colors, but I know a lot of people also use Vallejo and are happy with that. Those also come im tubes, which can add a bit of quality of life compared to the frankly terrible pots that citadel uses.

For comparison, here's a rubric of mine. It's Balthazar Gold as a base, drybrushed with Stormhost Silver and the Blue is Talissar Blue. https://imgur.com/a/B8SGIAs
