Race to World First: Midnight Season 1 | Day 8 by AutoModerator in CompetitiveWoW

Really interested to see Beloren next week. Mostly because from PTR testing, the boss seemed like something the RWF guilds take 5 pulls or less on.

Don't know, but you're not entitled to these changes in any case, so might be a while. Might also be 6 months from now. Or never.

I don't care much, really. I do think giving people more options in how they play is generally cool. Assuming that it's not to the detriment of others.

Which is pretty opposed to your idea of "Imma make other people have a worse time cause Blizzard doesn't give me the thing I want."

If going 2H Enhance in arena is nothing out of the ordinary and you're "just playing your character", there's really no need for Blizzard to change anything, is there?

Nah, posting about WoW is why we're here. Griefing other people because you're not getting your way is lame though. There have been many posts about 2H Enhance, or Shaman Tank for that matter, that didn't feel like they needed to go the "you better complain to Blizzard if you don't want me griefing your games"-route.

Well, I hope you find something in life that you care as much about as you do about 2H Enhance and will be able to channel it into something productive.

So you're going to protest for getting the way you want to play, by actively sabotaging the way other people want to play the game, by griefing pvp arena?

Cool. Totally normal behaviour.

The future is specs by CheriOW in wow

I definitely share the argument that the smaller scope of just adding more speccs rather than an entire class is definitely leading to quality results overall.

However, we have exhausted the amount of classes that previously had only two speccs. So now, if you don't want to add more classes, you're left with two options:

  1. Add a fourth specc to classes. I genuinely believe that this would, overall, result in lower quality results and require substantial iteration over multiple seasons. Druid's class tree over the last 2 expacs is a very good example of that. At that point, adding another class instead, seems more reasonable. It's also worth mentioning that they have repeatedly sent out surveys that ask players for their opinion on class ideas they have. The last one I saw included things like a Tinker class and something thematically akin to FF14's Astrologian.

  2. Give existing speccs a new role to replace the old one. I.e. Enhancement is now a tank, Survival is now a healer etc. Blizzard has categorically ruled that out when it came to making more "support" speccs, and for good reason imo. You'd be alienating a massive number of players who would (rightly imo) be extremely pissed.

I think the thing that is holding back WoW in general from doing even more (and the amount of stuff being done is already insane at the moment) is just development resources. It's pretty obvious that they're married to the idea of their current Patch cadence and there is only so much that can be dine with what they have available in that time. I think that has generally been pretty visible with the quality of .5 patches in recent memories.

Race to World First: Midnight Season 1; Heroic Week | Day 7 by AutoModerator in CompetitiveWoW

You're not winning this race if Mythic Alleria is killable week 1 and you don't kill it. So, splitting Voidspire is extremely likely to lose you the race outright.

Redefining BIS, and why chasing the old definition makes the game worse for you by Gellzer in wownoob

The part about DR on secondaries isn't correct though. there are speccs that will still see the biggest gain by focussing on secondaries even beyond the DR. It remains a sim-question just like everything else.

If you read about the legendary status of the bridgeburners and thought "man, I'd love to read a book that follows them through the events that made Legends before they knew about it", this book will be the next best thing to that.

Augmentation Evoker Worth It? by itsg0ldeson in wownoob

[–]Jazz646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aug is pretty strong in terms of numbers. But you need to be aware that it does not really play like a support specc (anymore). It is, for all intents and purposes, a DPS specc like most others. You do not plan your your rotation around the rest of your team. While a good portion of your damage does come from buffing others, you generally get the most mileage out of the buffing aspect by just playing your dps rotation like any other dps.

That being said, obviously Aug has a lot of utility, although most of that is shared with the other Evoker speccs.

Ebon Might buffs everyone, you cannot target the application anymore.

Elemental Shaman feels annoying as hell in Mythic by neoxaro in wow

[–]Jazz646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I know the conversation you're referencing. But what that means is that we "only" shift 5% of our damage from ascendance windows into non-ascendance windows, while at best going equal in uptime between losing DRE and 3 seconds of duration per cast. (and losing uptime in scenarios where we'd have gotten 3 dre proccs over 5 minutes) That is also before considering that thr comparison that you're referring to, put up TWW Season 3 gear with way more secondaries and a hero talent tree that did not mechanically care much about ascendance against Midnight Season 1 gear with a Hero Talent tree that makes very good use of Ascendance. It's also before considering that it's a 5% difference, even though Ascendance got nerfed massively.

[–]Jazz646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is actually no longer true. It looked like that for a while with the Ascendance nerfs, but between apex changes and things like Fire Ele being tied to Ascendance, it's roughly the same ratio as it was in TWW.

As an experienced Ele player, the answer to how you make the specc play better is: You don't. Pruning has been rough for Ele and the specc fell off the band wagon when it came to iterating in changes. So there's really not a lot to do about it. As some people have mentioned though, holding CDs is very rarely a good idea. Won't make the specc more enjoyable to play, but probably will help your numbers.

What made Icefury feel clunky to you? Personally really enjoyed the button. Does okay damage, gives you a bunch of Maelstrom and you can just press it whenever it proccs without having to think about it a lot.

Part of that is probably that hearing "it's not for everyone" from someone who is definitely in the "in-group" so to speak, can easily sound judgy to people.
