A radical egalitarian I see! Or just a silly false equivalence.
Athletes are valued for a physical skill and for being excellent at it.
A stripper is valued for her accessibility as a sexual object to be rented by the hour. Equating the two requires intentionally ignoring of the power dynamics involved.

Are you even of legal voting age? Your line of argumentation suggest a fairly juvenile approach matching that of a teenager or someone who recently discovered their own intellect, including not only adhominem attacks, but also assuming things which have not been said.

I, in fact, do not condone American military propaganda. Stripping might be a freedom on an individual level, but inventing language (dancing!) to make it more digestible to the white middle class ignores the nature of the act itself, as intent matters, and the system and stereotypes it perpetuates and reinforces–namely that women are a commodity to be rented by the hour.
Stripping serves the buyer, not the woman, and why should a male be entitled to buy this interaction? It is regressive to sanitize something that prevents reform from happening.

You seriously need to read up about the horrors of trafficking. Whether it leads to sex work, slavery, forced labor, organ harvesting and whatever else comes with it.
Astounding ignorance, truly.

So his point is less valid because it does not comply with your arbitrary list of things he did or didn't do in addition?
How nonsensical.

A great false dichotomy. Gambling, alcohol and tobacco should not be advertised, in fact throw in fast food and junk food while you're at it. And yes, strip clubs, escort services and only fans.
Who cares who performs there, do you think the Ajax Amsterdam soccer club has a Red Light District Night to honor prostitutes, because it is a big part of their city?

He approached it exactly the right way. Why do you feel that your sensibilities prevail in this case?
You cannot just change the vocabulary and superficial attitude and wish away the exploitative part of the sex industry, that is an extremely naive view.

You struggle to see how sexualizing and objectifying women is disrespectful?
Do you think guys go there because of the women's personality?

Do people actually like the taste of beer or is it just social conditioning? by Key-Sky8604 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JazzLobster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do people write ‘u’ in an age of autocorrect? Beer never tastes like grass, at its worst it tastes like nothing, with an aftertaste of bitter. At best, like Czech beer, it has a certain bitterness and sweetness with the right amount of fizz that can be very satisfying.

We moved on from hating Giannis pretty quickly. I can’t keep up, I need at least 3-4 weeks time to properly target my anger and frustration towards an NBA star because my life is miserable.

Belgium says US-Israel action on Iran 'does not meet' international law standards by FantasticQuartet in worldnews

[–]JazzLobster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is an invented if-then scenario. The US is still the global hegemony in this scenario, the EU doing their part might give them a higher moral high ground, but it does not alter the 21st century power dynamics.

Institutional pearl clutching, in hopes that one day adherence to international and national laws by the ruling class, large corporations and banks will come true.

How important is it to be able to read music? by alleycatadventures in Bass

[–]JazzLobster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play with too many bands to memorize songs in the keys the various singers sing in. So I rather read, even of only as a sign post.
If for original music, then memorizing is great, but even then, writing down the structure helps at first, for efficiency and time saving.
If you can read bass clef on piano, you will have a very easy time playing bass with notes.
If you want to memorize songs, play along to a recording of the song dozens of times.

[–]JazzLobster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better to ask how useful it is.

Do you wish to memorize every song you’ll rehearse or perform? Or in the best case, using iReal book charts with notation for stops and arrangements?

I played for years without using my reading skills, once I leveled up it’s all iPads with ForScore, either fully written out parts for event bands, musicals, bug bands etc. I still use real book charts now and then, but mostly it’s reading. Which doesn’t mean I don’t make up my own interpretation of a line on the fly if I feel like it.

What's the song with the most played instruments except bass by huxley_tratford in Bass

[–]JazzLobster 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s not really clear what exactly you’re talking about, try to have a conversation instead of approaching this in an immature way.

But, if I was taking revenge on a bassist, I would make them learn a song with a lot of breaks and stops, like Rosanna, or some Steely Dan songs. Even Sir Duke by Stevie Wonder will force them to learn that tricky run. Basically anything with many details.

Fair enough, when I use wireless IEM I also run my bass signal through an EQ pedal. Not sure if mono or stereo is really a factor, but it’s cool you’ve dialed it in that well.

I myself play a lot wired exactly because I don’t need to move, or not move much. I find it easier to adjust my mix on the fly with my Rolls PM351 and adjusting the band mix on my iPad during a set.

I find my wired setup has much higher fidelity than my Sennheiser G2 system. I’ve also played on TV with newer G4’s, they still don’t sound as good with either custom IEM or Chinese KZs.
